Sadly I think it's an instanced version of the beach without any player-placed objects. My lobster cages were gone during the event atleast, I could be wrong.
It looks like the kids walk out of the map because of this. Whenever a NPC hits an immovable object like a tree, they'll try and walk into it for a few seconds before being able to go through all immovable objects or whatever you wanna call them. After a few seconds of walking over "normal" tiles and not not hitting an immovable object, they'll go back to their normal state. So I guess what'll you have to do at, for example the beach to ruin Shane's day, is place a tree every few tiles, or just all the way through to the ocean, so Shane won't be able to go back into his normal state, thus walking off the map.
I think they might need to have obstuction after obstruction so that they continue running. Without them they might just think that they got past and start walking again.
I wonder if the reason Jas and Shane walk off the map is because when they run into their first obstacle when they phase through it they keep walking over other obstacles that might reset the phase timer, I don't know just a thought I had so it might be something to look into
I think if you don't see them get trapped/disappear they can get past impassable areas because they aren't technically loaded. They can walk through stuff as though its not there if you don't watch them/they aren't in the same area as you. Also I don't think they'd use it but Robin's family could get out through Maru's room yeah? In any case none of it matters, you can't be everywhere at once so some people are going to get through. I think the reason Jas and Shane vanished was because they were trying to walk through the bush rather than a tree which is not an obstacle placed by the player. The pathing told them do something they couldn't do. I think they can walk through trees but it can bug up their movements (Alex/Haley) but not always (Lewis). Bushes on the other hand probably do bug them up majorly. Someone said it on the last video but I'd rather you try make Shane run as late for work as humanly possible. Don't make him just disappear, try make it so that he gets to work then immediately leaves or something :D.
Recently, Stardew valley came out in Mobile. In occasion, NPC’s like Emily and Jas will glitch out if there walking... Press auto save then restart the app then come back in. Walking NPC will glitch out of the map.

This naturally happens a lot in my game, because whenever my spouse tries to go to bed, but we have a side table, they get confused and run into the void. They always re-apear when I wake up though so it's not too big of a problem
From what I'm observing, when one of the NPCs' paths is blocked, the game generates a new one to get them to their destination. When Jas and Shane got stuck, the game kept attempting to generate new paths for them, but when they would collide with objects, it would cancel and attempt a new path. Shane and Jas constantly had objects intersecting with their paths, which is why they kept glitching and the others didn't.
I have a suspicion that you will do this again and really nail it with some hilarious outcomes. When you broke Shane and Jas the first time it was so funny. There's lots of great ideas in the comment section and I think a combination of more trees in specific places suggested, Friday night checking the bar normal vs blocked and the winter time when the market comes to the pier will all help create greater carnage.
I think the reason why shane and Jas ran off the map because it seems like characters who hit an impassable object do a few specific things. One is that they stop, get frustrated, and begin walking straight through all impassable objects at a fast rate. However, it seems they slow down after a specific amount of time after touching an impassable object. Shane and Jas however are denied the opportunity of slowing down, since they keep encountering more impassable objects along their straight path, such has rivers, fences and so on, which is why they glitch through everything without slowing down.
I think the reason Jas and Shane walk off the map is because the game does the speed up and return to normal pathing for the rest of the NPCs, but when Jas and Shane get messed up on their route they never have clearance again to speed up and slow down. So never having the room available to slow down again they stay going through things and going fast, right off the edge of the map
In the beach if they get stuck in that one tree you could make a runway to the ocean to keep then speed walking by planting trees throughout the runway
The spot where you got that green guy (keep forgetting his name) and Haley stuck is actually Leah's favorite spot during summer, she goes there on the regular, when you talk to her there, she will say that she has come to listen to the waves.
It looks like if there isn't an open path, they will continue straight from their spawn until they hit something. If it's something solid (not a tree), they will go off the map. If it's a tree, they will go through, then recalculate.
Seems like their pathing endpoint is the tile in front of the door, and after that they just keep walking in whatever direction they're trying to get to. You could probably remove all of them from the map, including the almighty Pam, by messing with their pathing until they're on the same X-axis as the tile in front of their intended door, then putting them and keeping them in the 'walk through everything' state. At least, that seems to be what happened with Shane and Jas.
I think if you put trees every 5-6 squares going from the barrier to the ocean you'd get em to walk out to sea. If they go far enough without colliding they slow back down and start clipping again. Benches, Hedges, Ice Cream stands, e.t.c. kept Shane in noclip.
In Winter, artifact spots start spawning in places you normally can't dig, and if you dig it up and immediately put down a seed, you can put trees in places they aren't supposed to be. Would be annoying to set up since it's RNG-based, but it's a possibility.
Leah and Marnie you could block by walling trees near marnie's house. Emily you could block by marrying her and walling off your house. Kent you can stop by being in your first year. That's how to clear the whole Saloon.
DF, you can plant trees in areas you usually can’t during winter if you hoe an artifact spot. You should be able to place down artifact spots and how them to make a wall of trees where you usually can’t.

The reason Jas and Shane walked off the map is because they weren't blocked by a tree, they were blocked by the big shrub which takes up more than one tile and also maybe because it's already in the world. The other people are hitting trees which they can walk through, whereas even though the bridge is blocking Jas and Shane from their destination, it's the shrub they're actually colliding with unlike most of the other people. I have no clue if this is actually accurate but it was just the main difference that I thought about.
Why not make a grid of trees? Like a chess board, that way even if they go around the first tree, they'll still hit more trees. Also, that way the trees will grow in full size, so they'll be harder to get around.
I think i know why jas does that Her path that makes her dissapear doesn’t have much empty space so she can’t slow down Since if you block them they’ll eventually just start running, jas can’t slow down because she always runs into objects

I think it just reverts to a clean slate. If you notice during any of the beach events, if you have crab pots lying around they'll no longer appear, and any items that would be on the beach unspawn (including during the entirety of the night market). I'm not sure if it's a more or less effective coding option, but I'd assume that they have different "rooms" depending on the day, rather than changing the decorations around on a given day in an area. For example, town_default would be its normal state, town_1 would be during Easter, town_2 would be the town festival, etc.
You could try and block off Marnie's Ranch all together--you could knock out three birds (one of them a dove, because children) with one stone. Plus two of them go to the Bar, so you could help bankrupt Gus.

its easy to make pam disappear. ride the bus to Calico, warp back with the rod. go to the bustop. the bus is there, pam is not. u cant buy a new ticket without her. wait till 5, she doesnt appear, go to the bar and shes not there or at home.
