This is an invaluable guide for those of us who never even saw an Amiga for sale back in the day, much less had a chance to actually play one. Anyone can do a top 10 or a bottom 10. Ranking the middle? Conducting a class on graphic design and game mechanics? That's what separates the skill set of a real critic from the fan with an opinion.
Exxcellent video and quite the undertaking from you. I can't really argue at all with the placements as the games really are as good or bad as you say. I look forward to your Jaguar XJ220 re-review next week.

Very enjoyable as always. You mentioned Toki at one point but I don’t think it appeared, unless I missed it? (It’s not a single screener like most of them but New Zealand Story appeared). I was thinking it might possibly have made Essential, hence the interest.
That was definitely a game that was close to being included. I ultimately decided to put it in the Action Platform Superleague that I produced last month. Toki is a bit more regimented with everything always appearing in the same place whereas New Zealand Story has the random element like most of the games here. I agree that both games are quite similar but that one difference put them in seperate videos. Glad you're enjoying the videos.
Interesting list and awesome format, by a wonderful Amiga industry veteran in the know. I am not entirely sure what the list Arcade Platformers denotes... For example, Toki, Newzealand Story isnt here nor Chuck Rock, Wolfchild, etc aren't on here for some reason, but games like Axel Magic Hammer and Kid Gloves are here. So I am not too sure what denotes the genre arcade platformer to you?
Chuck Rock went in the Mascot platformer list, ones where the character is the main draw whereas all the others you mentioned were in the action platformer as they all feature a heavy shooting element. There are a lot of games that straddle genres which will makes things crossover a little. Probably going to have games appear in more than one list more often.
Tiny bubble is far from perfect, its main (but not only) issue being it controls differently to the arcade especially in the amount of left and right mobility you have when dropping down. I still prefer the original version of bubble bobble for the Amiga

Blob is a nice game and its probably the only Amiga game that doesnt have a longplay on YT.

Thanks, it did take a lot of work. Already started on the Football games list for June as that's currently up to 62 games so far....

Fuzzball never gave me any grief controls-wise on real hardware....
