Allyn, I have a new construction house on 5 acres In Clermont. I am going to be seeding the whole thing with Argentine Bahia. I have heavy equipment for leveling and prep. It would be the perfect test bed for your Bahia Journey. I have to get this whole thing seeded one way or another. Would be fun to have you along for the journey and have another battle with seeding Bahia for the followers out here.
Good morning Allyn- Speaking of patching St. Aug spots, I took your advice from a few months ago, and grabbed some Bethel Sod Farm plugs- 48 actually- for bad spots in my front and back yards (watering restrictions now at 1 day per week in Pinellas County until July, so I didn’t think I could keep sod alive) BUT MAN ARE THOSE PLUGS SYLVESTER STOLON HEROES! Thriving just like yours. Thanks for the guidance.
Allyn, I laughed at your "I feel like Tom Cruise" comment at the end of the video. I'm from that Top Gun era too and got the comment. You just need a leather bomber jacket and you are all set! I was not feeling so inspired to get back in the lawn until this video. I live in Northwest Ohio and so we are getting closer but probably more like April for me to enjoy the mow. I really enjoy your videos. I'm going to think about that Ego bike. Looks fun to ride around the neighborhood. Take care and god bless!
I've been using the Roundup for Lawns for the last two seasons. It's hard to find this year for some reason. I got it at Ace. One Lowe's had it. It was sold out or out of stock at all the local Home Depots. I've had good success with dollar weed and a few other common weeds. It turns the dollar weed yellow in about 3-4 days. It's never hurt my St. Augustine grass. I wouldn't hesitate to use Image either.
Hello Allen what can I use on wild onions growing and multiply every year in the middle of my Bermuda lawn I’m here in Dallas Texas. Thanks for your help
I made so much dirt pulling weeds and picking up grass and the leaves never end its almost like try to add as much green as you can and you can still keep going solid 6-8ft tall by 15ft long bed of compost just fill in wherever and add grass seedmix it all up water it in heavy and it grows like crazy water in the morning moderate and it will warm up then water at night too cause cool germination
It's allowable on dormant or actively growing zoysia. I'm not sure about Jamur but it does fine with my Empire. You just have to be sure it's under 85F
New subscriber long time viewer. Father in law in your area I’m sure. He was a former st Aug guy and now a has new house and decided to go with Bermuda in a predominantly st Aug neighborhood. He is stuck at cutting it high. Has had multiple hydro mulch app in the no sod areas. I try to share my wisdom to him as much as i can. I know he needs help. Any ideas? He’s battling weeds in those hydro mulch areas.
Just like how you’re talking about areas where you sprayed for weed control that aren’t growing where they’re much shorter than other areas. I have something similar right around the outer base of the palm tree. It looks like it’s a walking path but I think it’s from just the water that rolls down the palm fronds in a perfect circle around the palm tree matting out the grass. Can you confirm this?
@@TheLawnCareNut I’d recommend it big time. I’m a proud success story of that one. If you ever have any meet and greets in your area is he happy to show all of the photos
Im working on growing bermuda here in Phoenix az. Im getting weeds before and seeds are germinating. Is it ok to use the roumd up for lawns with seeds on bate dirt and weeds growing around them?
I think I'm in trouble this year, Allyn. I've had family health issues and haven't been home to put pre-emergent in the fall and missed me temperature window for spring. Have a lot of weeds now. And my old bones can't handle several days and nights of trying to catch up. Wish me luck. 😄🫰
I loved that grass. It just got so torn up that we needed to completely regrade the entire thing - In order to save money I got a good portion of it sponsored and the main sponsor is a turf company called Sod Solutions. It's their turf we are featuring.
If you were in my neighborhood you would get a letter from the HOA. They don't care about weeds but they don't want it that high. My dad used to have Zoyzia in KY and he didn't ever do anything to it. No water or ferts and it was thick and green all summer. He got it mail order and put it out in plugs
Another great video! I’m in the palmetto area and my front yard is looking okay, but I’m struggling to get my backyard to fill in and look good. I need help… the sod was laid about a year ago.
@@TheLawnCareNut wide open. Only one young live oak tree. It just doesn’t want to grow. Certain parts grow well and are nice and full. The middle of the backyard is a yellowish green and growing very little, if at all. I have been using the yard mastery app and following the calendar for the products apply. I’m thinking it’s poor drainage and compact soil, but not certain about either.
If I had to use a grass killer to nuke a 3ft by 3ft area of Bermuda how long should I wait until I sod that area or will I be able to that season? The Recognition seems so pricy for the small areas I have. I am considering the Recognition though as my neighbor has bermuda and I have St. Augustine. Our property line is starting to get mixed and I'm ready to spray a straight line.

What are your thoughts on Certainty and Celsius for early spring post emergent? I applied liquid Prodiamine this past fall, granular Prodiamine this spring right as temps hit 55 and I have tons of weeds. St Augustine grass in Central Arkansas.
I think I’ll used Celsius and Halo75, since I have it on hand. I gotta get better at spraying, my lawn looked like it had a mohawk last summer cause I missed some spots 😂
Pro tip when using these electric edgers. If you get sweaty, it'll drip ino the crack where the interlick and trigger is and WILL corrode the circuitry inside ruining yr machine. So cover that area wih plastic bags tied around the handle & trigger. Looks crappie but it will save yr equipment!
Allyn, can you counteract the growth stunting of the Celsius by throwing down some nitrogen in that spot? Is that safe to do, or is it just best to let the Celsius growth stunting run its course naturally?
I've personally had some bad luck with Celsius, East Coast of Florida during two back to back summers. I'm very sure it's not an over application, I was very cautious to stick to the exact mix rate for 1gal (with surfactant), and just quickly wet the area with weeds. It was late summer, Sept, so temps were over 85F. My Floratam St. Aug took a hit, and stopped growing, similar to what Allyn showed in this video, and I tried to hit with some extra nitrogen, and it took a turn for the worse, and never really recovered. I think the nitrogen led to additional uptake of the chems into my St Aug, combined with regular stress from high heat and it overwhelmed it. Okay, it could be some other factor, like a fungus, but I'm going to steer away from Celsius, at least in this one specific area of my lawn. Also, my St Aug was treated with Arena for chinches so, so I don't think it was pests, couldn't find any evidence of that. I've had good success with Atrazine and Image for Souther Lawns, but these I apply in late Fall and early Spring.
@@gregorysantos9188 That's what I was worried about - adding nitrogen to try to counteract the herbicide may result in more damage and stunted growth, not less. It might just be best to let the herbicide run its course, keep the area well hydrated and then afterward apply some N to grow the grass after the weeds have been killed off.

One thing I miss about Bahia was you can neglect it for a couple weeks and it'll be ok, but pretty much any attention you give it, it'll respond well.
