This kind of goes out to anyone who might know, but are there any video walkthroughs of the Wii trim process? I know there's a thread with pictures, and I intend to follow that carefully whenever I attempt an Ashida build, but I feel like that's probably the most intimidating part for people who aren't already familiar with the process yet, and being able to also reference a video of it would probably help first time portable-izers attempt it with a bit more confidence.
I got a chance to check out a few more of your VODs and ended up finding a full trim in the VOD "A Start To Finish Portable Wii Build Stream" starting at 48:45ish for anyone else who may have a similar question to my original post. Apologies for posting a question I really should've searched into a bit more first!
@@zallard1 that trim was for a Louii build. The Louii takes a different trim than an Ashida. Looking at trims of the Ashida, it looks like the same as a G-Boy, so you could also use Spawn Wave's more concise trim th-cam.com/video/r-2dI75-oq0/w-d-xo.html
@@revine9243 Oh you know what, that's a good point that I didn't consider. I haven't done any cutting yet, but I also plan to start posting to the BitBuilt forums before I attempt that step. Either way, thank you for the link to the other trim!
@@zallard1 no problem! when you post on the BB forums, you should also consider posting a Worklog that shows all of your steps that you're taking in detail, that way people can give you tips about things
@@revine9243 I'm definitely planning on a worklog for sure. I still have a few unanswered questions about things, but I'm also still only partway through looking at the guides, so I'll likely construct a thread only after I get through reading those.
OG TH-cam’ian here. I’ve been a big fan of your work for several years despite not being subscribed. (that me being a die hard gamer, as well as always wanting to make my own portable myself.) It warms my heart to see you active and uploading still; taking pride in your work, all while setting aside time like this to make sure your viewers or newcomers aren’t left in the dark with where you left off/ currently are with things. I appreciate you setting a true footprint of childhood memories coming back to life and I too, soon , after years & years of watching, plan to learn from your videos and finalize my decision on also starting this new hobby of building portables ! P.S. ( I’m also really huge into new culture music/ make music, & honestly gave big respects when I was scrolling & seen you made Trippie Redd’s portable ! ) (Didn’t know until now that you were responsible for that build 😎) I was wondering if you had any old / scrap or left over builds of your own you wouldn’t mind handing down? Also forgot to mention I’m currently running a slew of Wii/GBA/GC Games on Dolphin Emulator using my disgusting 2019 16” MacBook 💻 so games run “Okay” or slightly below average hahaha but I put on a silent grand show for my surrounding neighbors when I “Screen Mirror” to my 75” Vizio that sits on my side porch but I know the delay isn’t too enjoyable for whoever IS watching hahaha but I’d love to get in further contact in the future if possible !! (Also I’m a Double Dash SWEAT & Duo Baby Mario & Diddy Kong lol)🐵🍼👶🏻
Love your work! Could you please clarify the best wii motherboard to use? I wasn't clear on which RVL version. I'm looking at PAL, but searching for black wiis like you suggested brought up both RVL 001 and 101
a wii portable costs hundreds of dollars in parts alone, not just for the tools, so unless you're willing to shill out like $300-400 and a couple dozen hours to play gamecube games & some non-motion games like mario galaxy, stick to buying a gameboy, or a computer & a gc adapter that can run dolphin games
