Great video, as with many of us who have played WoW it's really weird to see the Athene we "grew up" watching transform into what he is now. The best insight in the video was the turning point that I always thought existed as well which was when Athene lost the world first D3 Inferno kill to Kripp who was, at that time, the underdog. I feel like that completely legitimized Kripp and was the first big gaming "loss" for Athene. I agree with a lot of the logic-based thinking that Athene promotes but I feel like the way he positions himself as the center of the "movement" creates a situation where the only acceptable "logic" is logic that agrees with his own. Sometimes I just wish we could all go back to the days of sitting around with our shirts off, yelling at CRT monitors, and playing video games without it having to feed into some grand world view.
Athene did get worlds first in D3 and was on track to get worlds first inferno the only reason he didn't is because blizzard hotfixed the monk ability they were rotating to make themselves constantly invulnerable.

Athene was definitely more well known at that point. Kripparian was probably a bit bigger on twitch but on youtube and overall, Athene was way ahead of him. I like the idea of this video, but the long runtime was badly used. Asking some ex-fans of Athene _"do you think its weird?"_ to get the convenient _"yes, kinda"_ didnt really add anything to the point and showing Kripp breaking some Diablo 3 records didnt contributed much neither. On the other side, things that really are interesting are barely mentioned and viewers have to take your word for it, like the analysis on Athenes pseudo-science videos. I totally agree on your analysis, but only because I watched that stuff on my own and made the same conclusion. Others will just disagree and move on, even you have a good point. You just need to show it. Same with the parallels of other cult followings. The _"coincidental similarities"_ are just too many to ignore, but have to be pointed out to make everyone recognize.

Pure logic is sociopathic, the fact that he raises all this money for charity shows that he cares about people he has never met. There is nothing wrong with this of course, it's great that he wants to help people but he cannot claim to be purely logical while preforming these selfless acts. Absolute logic is selfish, it's great from a moral standpoint to help charities the complete opposite from a logic-crazed standpoint. Once you see this you can start to see that Athene's definition of "logic" is whatever he believes, it is not unemotional or unbiased. The reason he calls his ideology "logical" is simply to kiss his own ass, it is no more logical than anyone elses ideas.

I may be a year late to this video but it is truly a really good video, from the introduction, the interviews (The last one was super interesting btw) and the end montage (that gave me goosebumps). Man this entire thing is so weird to have seen, I stopped watching him soon after Diablo 3 and didn't know what happened to him.. man this is so weird, yes I'm repeating myself but I feel really happy about everything he's done and who he WAS, but now I'm stuck between either being sad or just straight up mad realizing what he's become. My belief is that Athene's goal with the click is to get people to value logic in order to open their eyes to philanthropy and mindfulness. The project itself may fail in terms of reaching critical mass, but the minds changed will hopefully be impactful enough to make his followers shed light about philanthropy. I strongly believe that everything Athene has done and is currently doing is for the purpose of philanthropy and changing the world for the better.

He's certainly unique, and I don't think we'll ever see someone like him again, but he has to realize the Athene everyone loved was the Athene from 10 years ago. His time has come and gone. It's only natural that there's others behind him vying for his thrown, and they've taken it a long time ago, but I don't think he even realizes this.

I don't fancy myself knowledgable in logic theory, but is seems the kind sir comes to one conclusion and marks it at the 'right' one everyone should come to when they 'click'. Even makes these conclusions into rules for others. But there are different ways to be logical and different conclusions you could come to.

Pure logic is sociopathic, the fact that he raises all this money for charity shows that he cares about people he has never met. I may be a year late to this video but it is truly a really good video, from the introduction, the interviews (The last one was super interesting btw) and the end montage (that gave me goosebumps). Man this entire thing is so weird to have seen, I stopped watching him soon after Diablo 3 and didn't know what happened to him.. man this is so weird, yes I'm repeating myself but I feel really happy about everything he's done and who he WAS, but now I'm stuck between either being sad or just straight up mad realizing what he's become. My belief is that Athene's goal with the click is to get people to value logic in order to open their eyes to philanthropy and mindfulness. The project itself may fail in terms of reaching critical mass, but the minds changed will hopefully be impactful enough to make his followers shed light about philanthropy.
I strongly believe that everything Athene has done and is currently doing is for the purpose of philanthropy and changing the world for the better.

Good video man. Athene's kind of a tragic character. He's certainly unique, and I don't think we'll ever see someone like him again, but he has to realize the Athene everyone loved was the Athene from 10 years ago. His time has come and gone. It's only natural that there's others behind him vying for his thrown, and they've taken it a long time ago, but I don't think he even realizes this.
