Does a tillandsia bloom more than once?

    • @plantmanbarry

No, only once on the lifecycle of the adult plant. Then as it starts to fade and die the plant produces several live off sets or pups that are exact clones of the parent plant. These pups grow to maturity in 1-3 years and then bloom and the entire cycle starts over, except now you will have 2-5 plants in most cases. They continue to multiply like this virtually forever unless freezing or disease kills them.

What happens after flowering do they die? How can I keep it alive ?

They will pup and grow offsets that will usually mature in a year or two. The cycle continues on as long as they have proper growing conditions.
