I picked this up on prime day just because of the sale. I love it. Makes the switch feel better in your hands. Sticks are great. Makes playing in handheld much better. Switch itself sits firmly inside too
Thank you for the analog test again! Others just say hall effect sticks and call it a day without testing. These look smooth with no stuttering/snapping!
This is so cool. Feels so hard for me to motivate picking one up when we're likely less than a year off from the Switch 2 though. I really hope they make one as soon as they can for the Switch 2, perhaps even fixing the loudness of the L and R buttons in said revision as well. It's such a cool unit and if my job paid better I wouldn't have been skipping out on a purchase like this.
@@lady_leaf_in_the_wind Nobody does, indeed. But a lot of people are going to save up for Switch 2 rather than just blowing a month of expendable income on it.
I mean for all we know the switch 2 will be exactly the same just more powerful under the hood meaning this would already work for it. We just dont know yet
I find this product really good but for two things: - You need to press on the screen ( quite a little bit hard ) to remove it from the "gamepad" - It doesn't feature a battery so we can extend our playtime But having the option of either using the OLED or standard version is something that is really impressive
I got mine 4 days ago as a birthday present. Works well on my Oled and V2. If in any case it doesn't work on your Oled, just turn on Pro controller then restart your Switch while attached to it, wait for 5 seconds, then turn it on again. Not sure tho if it will work for everyone but tried it on 2 Oleds. Anyway, nice review man.
One of the biggest issues is the compatibility problems. It may just randomly stop working on a console that was working just fine and never work again.
Man it would be perfect if it doesn't use the USB-C port but a hole for you to plug a charger cable in, for controller connection, it would be great if it uses the Joycon rail interface.
Reason why I have it? It’s a wide enough controller to stick my stickers onto. I have a bunch of Animal Crossing stickers and I got the pale green Deck to match the aesthetic and stickerbombed it. Overall I also love the fact that it can be used on Dock move and have almost its features compared to the Hori Split Pad. It’s so bareboned, and expensive due to the licensing. And if you want to use it with the Switch docked you have to buy the set which almost cost as much as brand new Joy Cons. If you have the split pad without the centrepiece, then you’re stuck on handheld mode.
I’ll probably do a comparison video soon. The Nitro Deck has a few more bells and whistles and I’ll also be comparing comfort which is a big one for me.
on the retroflag you mentioned the right stick position would make it uncomfortable as it aligns directly with the face buttons, do you get a sense this is as bad? asking because its in the same position
it would be perfect if the dpad and the sticks where diagonal, alslif the backcase was more soft. i have the nitro deck for one week and im very carefull and already got a scratch , wich really got me mad
It looks good for sure, but I watched your Retroflag review and you mentioned because the buttons and analog joystick is “inline” with each other, the comfort of it is not that great. For this one it looks to be the same case but how does a “bigger gap” between the joystick and buttons contributes to “better ergonomics”? Because the Retroflag also have that “bigger gap”. That said, maybe the Nyxi hyperion pro would be a better choice?
It’s the stretching of my wrist that isn’t great. Needed to mention it as others may feel the same. No issues with the Hyperion Pros. All round superb joycon
Thank you very much. What about the Grip comfort? The Grips arent offset compared to the newer Skull and co or nyxi, its more like the first Skull and co gripcase, is that a Problem for you?
I've got the white version preordered. I'm kicking myself in the pants for not getting the limited edition one. I didn't realize the limited edition ones come with the case! Can't wait to get mine. :)
@@CTAtechdesk nice so am I if you ever need anything let me know I can also mod all switch’s even oled as you might have seen in my latest mortal kombat 1 video for the switch.
Funny how a another company had to step in and fix a problem that Nintendo clearly could have done from the start but obviously had no interest in doing. And this late into the Switch’s life assuming that Nintendo is indeed working on its next console. This could have been very useful like 5 years ago, like did they expect us to buy new controllers every time one started drifting?
When Nintendo design the joycons, hall effect joysticks didn't exist yet. Also the Switch is meant to be play how the player's see fit so all the joycon drift issues isn't really an issue unless you own a Switch Lite and can't customize control. Hall effect joystick doesn't doesn't mean they won't drift either, those are brand new, as time goes on they will slowly drift as dusk and goo starting to build up from within and hamper stick movements.
With analogue triggers will the Switch be able to use it to get proper controls for speeder and brake in racing games? Or is the Switch hard-wired to treat triggers as digital?
I never use dock mode I just use the dock for display hahaa, 1080p 30fps is no longer for me I on 60/120fps on 1440p and higher so I just play handheld mode
Fun fact. Actually not so fun. Standard black edition is more expensive than that uggo limited edition when you buy standard edition with separate case.

Got the same Purple Ltd Edtion Preordered, cant wait to pick this up and start playing some serious handheld gaming.
The sound test was super relaxing
I'm here for the ASMR at 7:04. But seriously, the main reason I'm looking to get this is for the Hall Effect sticks.

Thank you for your reviews. I love your content.
I put in a pre order a couple months ago and they are supposed to be shipping soon!! Im really excited
Nice. What colour did you go for?
I could only get white of this, but i at least got this. It's definitely worth the money, i use it a lot now.
Thank you for the review my friend!!
better get this thing to work with my oled…my “friend”
Where can i get that SNES inspired pro controller.
I really love this product, a perfect controller for me
Just picked up the atomic red on sale / case a week ago .🤗
I just got this, paid for this and will be picking up today 😁
whats the difference with the retroflag?

It's about twice the price.

Can I use this as a controller in table top mode?
on the retroflag you mentioned the right stick position would make it uncomfortable as it aligns directly with the face buttons, do you get a sense this is as bad? asking because its in the same position
This is much better due to the size of the grip which helps extend the palm out meaning there’s not so much strain on reaching with your thumb.
If you already own a split pad pro would you recommend this still ?
I’m not a huge fan of the split pad so would definitely take this over them.
Holding joycons is like holding tic tacs
Too small indeed.
how does it affect the battery life?
Is this better than nexigo grip con gen 3 that you testesd

Do you prefer it over the Nyxi's?

My only complaint is how damn hard it is to get the switch out
Hence my comment about the micro fibre cloth. Covered in fingerprints.

I gave my steam deck away :(
I can't wait any day now
Nice. What colour?
@CTAtechdesk retro purple. I could have got a limited run, but that purple was to tempting
I picked up a limited run blue
Maybe I'll get a skin for my switch so I don't get stressed from scratching.
does it have a gyroscope?
Does it fit in a skull & Co. Max carry case?

Why should any game developer involve this in a Switch game, when the original hardware can't do it?
It's doable, yes.

Why anyone would buy this after seeing the shoulder buttons is beyond me. This is essentially a MadCatz controller until they make a revised version
