At first she thought she could use TJ to get on the team and realized that she had to get rid of Cyrus.

He helped Cyrus with the muffin, he made the swing scene special, and he reached for Cyrus’ hand first. When Buffy said "get my friend Cyrus a muffin", an unexpected door of opportunity opened and TJ walked right through. i think that that when TJ stepped on the muffin, was his subliminal way of getting noticed by Cyrus. His body language changed. his voice softened. He showed Cyrus unabashed, physical affection, 3 times in 1 min. first his hand lovingly on Cyrus shoulder. then, a gentle 2 handed nudge toward the muffin. then pressed up against Cyrus when he , announced to the entire lunch room"HE'S WITH ME!" I watched on my own first and then rewatched the Tyrus scenes a few times, then watched Emma Doodlebug, who also over analyzed all the Tyrus scenes and would sometimes cath thing I missed or I would catch things she didn't but into video, then it was to ShineOnMedia who would talk about the Tyrus scenes and what they suspected and then Tyrus fan videos and then back to watch the scenes again.

I was able to see the subtext in most of the scenes. Interestingly, even in the first scene where they meet there appears to be some subtext, as TJ isn't hostile at all toward Cyrus. Has anyone else noticed that TJ initiates most of the important moments: he approaches Cyrus first, he invites him out with his friends first, he admits to talking about him (smiling as he makes this confession), he looks back first, he inches his hand toward Cyrus, he makes the first move toward outing himself to Cyrus.

It's been a 2 years of build up. i think it was a relief to TJ to that he figured himself out and acted on it and huge shock to Cyrus, that his love for TJ wasn't one sided. i wasn't sure that Disany was going to let that happen. i think that Disany wanted to keep Cyrus in the closet until he graduated from college.

Ronnie Caron Similar vibe to Steve from Stranger Things’ development as a character. Although Steve is older and changed more because of his motherly love for Dustin and a few other kids, it’s close in a sense that they both had such a jerk, king of the school, can’t talk to me, I’m better than you, reputation, and both of their reputations’ quickly got pulled away like a sheet to reveal their true intentions and character, because of a person/people they have strong feelings for.
On a different note, Tj and Cyrus’ relationship, (I have found whilst showing this show to everyone I know because I’m so obsessed and I need someone else to be obsessed too), Is SO close that to someone who hasn’t seen the show before and doesn’t have context, they look like a couple. Seriously. I showed it to my friend Sydney and she thought I was lying to her or being weird when I told her they technically aren’t in a relationship.

If i had known there was a "gay subtext" i would have been thair a long time ago. I'm above the age that disney should interest me, but i (like many others) tuned in as soon as it was announced that they were introducing a gay main character. From the beginning of the movies then TV, gay has always been treated a "stereotypical" joke character or a tragic outcast and oddball. I wanted to see for myself, what a "gay" character on a disney show would be treated. although i have diligently followed the development of TJ and Cyrus, i don't have that much interest in the rest of the show. the main reason i liked TJ and Cyrus, was they broke the stereotype of what gay is generally perceived as. Lots of viewers, couldn't believe that a "jock" could be gay or that a smart, cute nerd, like Cyrus who "couldn't dance" haha, was gay. What totally pissed me off, was that during the entire run of the show, thair was "0" LGBTQ" representation and almost no contact other then subliminal. . They made it seem, it's ok to be "gay" as long as you stay in the closet. It made no sense, for Cyrus to be gay, because it had no part i the show. Disany made the big announcement that they would have a gay character, accepted countless awards and accolades, for being progressive and open minded, then A big nothing burger! i've seen numerous comments in the past, when someone said "i've been watching the show for a year!" "Who is the gay character?" Obvisioly, they missed the epo, when Cyrus, using subtext , subliminally came out to Buffy and Andy! It's been us in the comment sections theorizing and speculating, that kept TYRUS alive and thriving.

ahhh this is perfect. like you've seen the whole show and the bench scene so when this video starts you're kinda going throught the scenes with a knowing smile but then towards the end you kinda forget that they're together for real so when you see the bench scene at the end you're still in shook.
the kira swing scene, told me, that nothing had changed in TJs head. the look distress on his face, when she sat on Cyrus swing and him responding to her, "i'm not a 5 yo" when she said "lets swing". he was painfully aware , that the swings were his and Cyrus thing. TJ is a hopeless romantic. so much more then Cyrus. when kira, TJ and Cyrus were at the table, TJ never even tried to cover up his feelings for Cyrus, even after she said "i'm over here", he wasted no time, turning to look at Cyrus, walking away from him. TJ was hurt, because he thought Cyrus, was avoiding him. He was clueless to the fact that Kira was driving him away and all Cyrus wanted to do , was to give them space.
unfortunately, homophobic Disany, delivery cut scenes, that showed more of TJs and Cyrus bonding, the way the script was originally written. we only got a slight glimpse into TJs back story in the last few min, when he said "he had parents and his mom was a piano teacher. and one flashback to when TJ was a kid who played baseball.

it's like they took a knife and cut the scripts. i thought that when Cyrus came up to TJ at the bleaches and said "why the long face", TJ would open up a conversation. It was so obvious what TJ was feeling for Cyrus, when Kira sat on Cyrus swing. he was desperately trying to avoid it. when she said "lets swing" TJ responded "i'm not a 5 yo!... and you could tell, he was saying to himself "it's Cyrus and my thing!! at the table, he didn't try to hide his feelings for Cyrus, when the wicked witch of the west said " i'm over here!" Big deal, that Cyrus said "i'm gay" to Jonah. it meant nothing at all. it might have gone right over his head. i honestly thought that the night of the Meteor shower and tent, that Jonah and Cyrus would have had a meaningful conversation. It was a nothing burger scene. Homophobic Disany cut the crap out of the script and cut many scenes that showed Cyrus and TJ as positive role models that flirt, let friendship grow to bromance then to romance . Yes, i also felt let down, that they totally cut out a reconciliation. i guess they felt it was "toooooooooooo gay!"
yea Disney cut out so much!! Josh, Luke and Terri had to fight so hard for everything Tyrus related. Disney was even considering cutting out the hand holding in the last ep. And apparently the crew wasn’t that on board when Josh and Luke started adding hints about Tyrus’ feelings for each other but they did it anyway. Disney never was and probably never will be an ally and we’re lucky we got this 👏

I love how Cyrus is the one we have always known was gay pre-Tyrus but TJ makes all the big first steps. He helped Cyrus with the muffin, he made the swing scene special, and he reached for Cyrus’ hand first. I never realised the former ones before the bench scene but noe that I know it totally makes me love TJ’s perspective of Tyrus more

Similar vibe to Steve from Stranger Things’ development as a character. Although Steve is older and changed more because of his motherly love for Dustin and a few other kids, it’s close in a sense that they both had such a jerk, king of the school, can’t talk to me, I’m better than you, reputation, and both of their reputations’ quickly got pulled away like a sheet to reveal their true intentions and character, because of a person/people they have strong feelings for.
On a different note, Tj and Cyrus’ relationship, (I have found whilst showing this show to everyone I know because I’m so obsessed and I need someone else to be obsessed too), Is SO close that to someone who hasn’t seen the show before and doesn’t have context, they look like a couple. Seriously. I showed it to my friend Sydney and she thought I was lying to her or being weird when I told her they technically aren’t in a relationship.

I'm above the age that disney should interest me, but i (like many others) tuned in as soon as it was announced that they were introducing a gay main character. From the beginning of the movies then TV, gay has always been treated a "stereotypical" joke character or a tragic outcast and oddball. I wanted to see for myself, what a "gay" character on a disney show would be treated. although i have diligently followed the development of TJ and Cyrus, i don't have that much interest in the rest of the show. the main reason i liked TJ and Cyrus, was they broke the stereotype of what gay is generally perceived as. Lots of viewers, couldn't believe that a "jock" could be gay or that a smart, cute nerd, like Cyrus who "couldn't dance" haha, was gay.
What totally pissed me off, was that during the entire run of the show, thair was "0" LGBTQ" representation and almost no contact other then subliminal. . They made it seem, it's ok to be "gay" as long as you stay in the closet.
It made no sense, for Cyrus to be gay, because it had no part i the show. Disany made the big announcement that they would have a gay character, accepted countless awards and accolades, for being progressive and open minded, then A big nothing burger!
i've seen numerous comments in the past, when someone said "i've been watching the show for a year!" "Who is the gay character?" Obvisioly, they missed the epo, when Cyrus, using subtext , subliminally came out to Buffy and Andy!

the swing scene is legendary
I haven't even watched the show but the whole build up until the bench scene had my body twisting and sweating in every possible way. I stan now
Knowing that the actors knew that TJ was gay from the beginning and Luke and Joshua were hinting at it throughout the series make everything hit differently

ahhh this is perfect. like you've seen the whole show and the bench scene so when this video starts you're kinda going throught the scenes with a knowing smile but then towards the end you kinda forget that they're together for real so when you see the bench scene at the end you're still in shook.
the kira swing scene, told me, that nothing had changed in TJs head. the look distress on his face, when she sat on Cyrus swing and him responding to her, "i'm not a 5 yo" when she said "lets swing". he was painfully aware , that the swings were his and Cyrus thing. TJ is a hopeless romantic. so much more then Cyrus.
when kira, TJ and Cyrus were at the table, TJ never even tried to cover up his feelings for Cyrus, even after she said "i'm over here", he wasted no time, turning to look at Cyrus, walking away from him. TJ was hurt, because he thought Cyrus, was avoiding him. He was clueless to the fact that Kira was driving him away and all Cyrus wanted to do , was to give them space.
Ok now that I'm rewatching this I realize their connection was more intense than I thought before the bench scene
Honestly after they revealed that Cyrus was gay it just made sense that he would end up with TJ in the end
unfortunately, homophobic Disany, delivery cut scenes, that showed more of TJs and Cyrus bonding, the way the script was originally written. we only got a slight glimpse into TJs back story in the last few min, when he said "he had parents and his mom was a piano teacher. and one flashback to when TJ was a kid who played baseball.

it's like they took a knife and cut the scripts. i thought that when Cyrus came up to TJ at the bleaches and said "why the long face", TJ would open up a conversation.
It was so obvious what TJ was feeling for Cyrus, when Kira sat on Cyrus swing. he was desperately trying to avoid it. when she said "lets swing" TJ responded "i'm not a 5 yo!... and you could tell, he was saying to himself "it's Cyrus and my thing!! at the table, he didn't try to hide his feelings for Cyrus, when the wicked witch of the west said " i'm over here!" He didn't get that Cyrus was being a gentleman and giving him space, but TJ was hurt because he though that Cyrus was avoiding him. he was totally oblivious to the fact, that it was Kira driving him away.
Disany has been avoiding "Gay" since Cyrus subliminally came out to Buffy and Andi. Big deal, that Cyrus said "i'm gay" to Jonah. it meant nothing at all. it might have gone right over his head.
i honestly thought that the night of the Meteor shower and tent, that Jonah and Cyrus would have had a meaningful conversation. It was a nothing burger scene.
Homophobic Disany cut the crap out of the script and cut many scenes that showed Cyrus and TJ as positive role models that flirt, let friendship grow to bromance then to romance . Yes, i also felt let down, that they totally cut out a reconciliation. i guess they felt it was "toooooooooooo gay!"
yea Disney cut out so much!! Josh, Luke and Terri had to fight so hard for everything Tyrus related. Disney was even considering cutting out the hand holding in the last ep. And apparently the crew wasn’t that on board when Josh and Luke started adding hints about Tyrus’ feelings for each other but they did it anyway. Disney never was and probably never will be an ally and we’re lucky we got this 👏
