i had my ears pierced at baby and hated them. I couldnt sleep well bc theyd be bothersome as a side sleeper. With 3/4 i cried and had a meltdown saying i hated them and the fact i had holes in my ears. They took them out and let it close up. With 14 I CHOSE to wear earrings and got them repierced. It doesnt hurt. Its just scary bc needle but i didnt feel a thing. As a grew older your pain receptors get less sensitive. Babies cannot consent and might even feel the pain more intense. Its a piercing. You wouldnt pierce your babies belly button or give them a nose stud. Cultural or tradition/religion doesnt mean its right.
It should be banned worldwide! It's a tradition in The Philippines and common and Canada and America. Koreans and Japanese don't do it. The girl needs to be an adult before getting her ears pierced in those 2 countries.
I'm pentecostal, married to a man who doesn't ascribe to any particular christian dinomination but he lets me raise my daughter the way i want to. I chose not to pierce her ears cause i never did. I chose to continue in that lifestyle even after i got older. Might not be the same for my daughter. She might choose to get her ears pierced in the future. The important thing is, i want it to be her personal rational decision. Cause as tiny as it is, its something that i consider an alteration to the body.
I don't think you can cite circumcusion as being ok as a religious and/or cultural thing. Yet ear piercings for baby girls when very young is seen as monstrous and almost child abuse because they cannot consent. If baby boys can't consent to circumcision yet it's ok for religious reasons. Why can't it be the same for ear piercing and baby girls for cultural reasons? Either you believe children should be old enough to consent for these procedures or you don't. Be consistent with your beliefs.
Plus the procedure is few seconds long and ears close up.Hispanic mother's do this instantly. The pain is few seconds and most babies some don't even cry or notice.
It's traumatic on the body, regardless of where the child remembers it or not and it's cruel. I live in south america and the amount of times mothers try and defend this is heart breaking. Its not like a vaccine that could benefit your child, its something you do cause you believe it makes your daughter beautiful. How shallow is that? Let them decide if they want that pain when they're older. When they can rationally think for themselves. They will respect you for it and that's a memory worth having, rather then a forgotten memory of how we made them endure pain in the name of customs and traditions.
@@blueskies2517people would talk very differently about this if it wasn't so normalised, imagine if they did belly button piercings on babies or tongue and nose piercings people would be outraged
I personally think babies shouldn’t have their ears pierced. The child should choose for themselves.
Once she is old enough to give her consent.
I disagree because when their older they’re ears will be healed

It absolutely should be the child’s choose.
They’re not young to consent and look after them responsibly.
