Isiah would be ranked higher than Julius Irving on this list. Dr. J did a lot of damage in the ABA in the 70's and while he was great in the 80's as well, I don't see how he was better than Isiah who played almost all of his best years in the 80's, won more championships than Irving in the 80's, and was the undisputed best player on those teams as well. Dr. J may have the better overall career (it's arguable), but Zeke was the better 80's player. I think Zeke has a good case to be ranked ahead of Moses as well (it's close), and even MJ (Jordan only played four or five healthy seasons in the 80's and he didn't win anything).
Bird vs. Magic is a complete tie in my mind. Magic had more rings and is the all time leader in assists per game. While Larry doesn't lead the league all time in any stat he was a better scorer than Magic and also had a solid all around game and won championships in a more competitive east with less talent around him than Magic.
Thank you for the video, your list was right on but like you stated at the end there were so many good players in the 80s and 70s! I don't believe that you can really pick "one" player as the best in over 70 years of Pro Basketball history. (maybe by decade) Statistically the best player ever is/was Wilt Chamberlain. I don't need to mention that Wilt has records that will never ever be broken and some of Wilt's records that were broken it took those players twice as long as the accomplishment of Wilt! A good example was Wilts scoring record, it took Kareem and Labron 20 years to break Wilts record! FYI most of Wilts scoring records were set in his first 7-8 years of play! Also, what fans of today are ignorant of the history of professional basketball, that the game has evolved! But not for the better!
Ridiculous. As great as mj was he is not in anyway "greater" than isiah as isiah and pistons always beat him in the 80s. Mj is my goat but no he's not above isiah in 80s
I'm fine with you ranking Bird ahead of Magic, but don't disrespect that Celtics team. - Dave Cowens: Hall of fame made his final All-Star team that year. - Tiny Archibald: hall of fame, All-Star that season and the next two. - M. L. Carr: put up 18 ppg and 2nd team all defense the year before in Detroit before taking a smaller role on this roster. - Pete Maravich was done, so I can understand not counting him. - Cedric Maxwell never had great numbers but put up 19 and 9 the year before Bird arrived and stil named finals MVP over Bird in '81.
Threes threes threes... That's all people care about now, oh and dunking. Go look who is at the top of the free throws made list Most of them haven't played since the Vietnam War. WHY can't today's players hit 15 footers EVEN WHEN there's little defense?? Launching threes is only the key to winning Championships if everyone agrees to do it and it's extremely stupid to try beat the Warriors in what they specialize in. If hitting 3's were the be all to end all, the Cavs would have been more successful with Mark Price doing it as well as anyone does it today.
In my opinion, Moses Malone was MAYBE the best player of the early 80s (80-83), Larry Bird was DEFINITELY the best player of the mid 80s (84-86), and Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson were the best players of the late 80s. That being said, Bird won Rookie of the Year (Magic got a whopping three votes), won three straight MVPs, finished second in MVP voting four times, never finished lower than 4th in MVP voting, and received 67% of ALL MVP voting in the 1980s. So yeah, that’s NBA dominance.
1. Michael Jeffrey Jordan 2. Lary Joe Bird 3.Earvin Johnson Jr. 4. Moses Eugene Malone 5. Isiah Lord Thomas III 6. Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor Jr. 7. Julius Winfield Erving II 8. James Ager Worthy 9. Jacques Dominique Wilkins 10. Alexander English/Kevin Edward McHale/George Gervin
Your other lists are great but this one is pretty wack. Agree with your Top 3. Sidney Moncrief & Alex English should've been above Kevin McHale & James Worthy.
What's interesting is that there is a huge controversy over Isiah Thomas being left off the Dream Team, but nobody ever says anything about Moses Malone. The two had very similar career resumes, Isiah won 2 titles in 3 finals while Moses was 1 for 2, but Moses was a 3 time MVP. Both were Finals MVPs. You are probably thinking, yeah, but in 1992, Moses was past his prime, while Isiah was still in his. But, if Win Shares are to be believed, that's not true, Moses had more Win Shares than Isiah in each of the 4 years between Olympic games 1988-1992. Furthermore, as a big man, he'd probably would have been a better fit in the rotation than Isiah as a point guard. I'm not going to say Moses should have been on the Dream Team, or that he was better than Isiah, but I think he has an equally compelling argument that never gets talked about.
Wrong. MJ the best. I witnessed it all. Loved my Celtics, but MJ was just that great. Bird and Magic watched in awe. Kareem?? In the '80's??? Over rated.

I think Bird is a better individual player than magic but I rank magic higher all time bc of his team success
Great list. The most accurate list I've seen so far
How is no one talking about Alex English. He was the leading scorer of the 80s
IT won 2 championships
He only won 1 in the 80s. He won the next year but it is 1990 which is considered the 90s.
Stephen Wade I thought the same I knew I wasn’t tripping
@@kingdinodragonite3470 he's talking about the 80s we know Zeke has 2 Championships 89 and 90 would have 3 88 if he doesn't get injured
@@Kingbossdon read my comment. It said that he has 1 in the 80s which ONLY 89. The second ring was already in the 90s.
Ridiculous. As great as mj was he is not in anyway "greater" than isiah as isiah and pistons always beat him in the 80s. Mj is my goat but no he's not above isiah in 80s

Bird was definitely the best player in the 80s
I'm fine with you ranking Bird ahead of Magic, but don't disrespect that Celtics team.
- Dave Cowens: Hall of fame made his final All-Star team that year.
- Tiny Archibald: hall of fame, All-Star that season and the next two.
- M. L. Carr: put up 18 ppg and 2nd team all defense the year before in Detroit before taking a smaller role on this roster.
- Pete Maravich was done, so I can understand not counting him.
- Cedric Maxwell never had great numbers but put up 19 and 9 the year before Bird arrived and stil named finals MVP over Bird in '81.
alex english the most underrated player in the 80s
Top 10 80’s Players
1- Larry Bird
2- Magic
3- Moses
4- MJ
5- Isiaah
6- Kareem
7 - Alex English
8- Nique
9- Doctor J
10- Kevin Mchale
You mean 80’s
sir charles were way better player in 80s than dr j
pretty good list but i would remove Mchale 2 Spots Lower
If lavar ball played in the NBA he will be unstoppable
Edit: If britnney grinner played in the 80s she will say “im better than MJ”
Rodman is NOT the best rebounder ever 🙄....Moses better and if he only rebounded he'd average 30
Bird number one
Respect 🙏🏿
Damn mchale was nice
You got almost all the NBA All star appearances wrong 🤦🏾♂️
Larry Bird did not say any such thing about James Worthy it was Michael Cooper
Aloha what an exciting era thanks for sharing 🌈
Excellent point about Len Bias. what a tragedy.
Zeke is top 3 tbh.
Pistons beat mj, bird, and magic.
1. Michael Jeffrey Jordan
2. Lary Joe Bird

4. Moses Eugene Malone
5. Isiah Lord Thomas III
6. Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor Jr.
7. Julius Winfield Erving II

10. Alexander English/Kevin Edward McHale/George Gervin
Michael Jordan was clearly the best player in the 80's and 90's
No he wasnt ... know you're basketball
I'm a Bulls fan, but Jordan was not the best player in the 80s. Magic Johnson and Larry Bird dominated that decade.
@@chrismathgenius their teams dominated the 80s . Individually tho jordan was the best straight up.
How could MJ be the best player in the 80's when he never won a playoff game against Bird (got swept twice)???
He was the greatest scorer, but he could never get out of the East until Pip. Bird and Isiah sent his ass home every single year in the '80's
Compelling Bird take.
Mine.

Wrong. MJ the best. I witnessed it all. Loved my Celtics, but MJ was just that great. Bird and Magic watched in awe. Kareem?? In the '80's??? Over rated.
Karrem Lakers what Doctor J was taking Philly teams in the 70s and early 80s while Karrem never made the finals as a laker until magic showed up
