@@DashyAndDadReacts would love to see a reaction to Perennial live! Tatiana has a stage presence that commands respect, not to mention the whole band as a kit is so dialed in.. I play guitar and thus usually look first at riffs in a song unconsciously, but jinjer allows me to enjoy analyzing each individual instrument; subconsciously. They're something else and are on my bucket list of artists to see live in concert. Last I scratched off was born of osiris, at the pyramid scheme in GR. Michigan

Yeah Jinjer will keep you on your toes. They have a consistent DNA to their music but every song is different.
The guys were stuck in Kyiv heading to the shelters and hearing and in some cases seeing explosions for several months. They don't have any military experience and were a low priority for mobilization so were approved to tour as cultural ambassadors. Tatiana splits the year between the US with husband Alex Lopez formerly drummer of Suicde Silence and now P.O.D. and was in the US when the invasion started. They are working on a new album that will be strongly influenced by their experiences and is reportedly going to be very heavy. As one might expect with such a genesis.
I'd recommend something on stage next, with Perennial live at Wacken on the lighter side similar to Pisces, Who Is Gonna Be The One official live on the heavier side focused on everything she can do with her growls, and On The Top live in Kiev (Kyiv) somewhere in between being 3 great next steps with amazing musical composition too. An omv I have to recommend as well is Home Back about their experiences when their hometown in eastern Ukraine was caught in the 2014 war that set the stage for the current invasion.

You two seem like genuine, fun reactors!
"I'm going to murder her name" - Proceeds to nail it, well done! :)
The guys were all in Ukraine with the conflict broke out, and were required to stay there. Tatiana was in Los Angeles. However, they have been given permission to go out and tour to raise awareness.
They've been growing steadily. Back in 2019 they were headlining 300-800 person shows in the US. Now they are headlining 3000-5000 person shows.

🔥Welcome to the Jinjer Army, Dashy and Dad! I just found your channel, great reaction, subbed! Thank you for bringing the *fantastic* genre twisting music of Jinjer to more people! I love their energy, how tight they are, how down to earth they are, the heaviness mixed with complexity and groove, beautiful singing and beautiful growling and especially Tatiana's lyrics!
The first time I heard Pisces in 2019, I hadn't liked any metal with growling and it took me a few listens to start liking it, but now Tatiana is my favorite vocalist and Jinjer my favorite band (Pisces has been my wakeup alarm for a couple years and I still love it more every time I hear it).
TLDR: skip to the last paragraph 😂
Sorry for the very long comment, I just love Jinjer too much and love seeing people discover (and usually fall in love with) them and each of their songs!
My three favorite comments about Jinjer that I've seen, "terrifying levels of talent", "I hate it when a Jinjer song ends", and "that was more unexpected than my first child" 🤣
I love the story of Tatiana getting interested in learning to growl. In her own words, "I was inspired by Otep (Shamaya). When I was 15, my friend showed me a record of House of Secrets. I was like, ‘That dude - his voice is so powerful'. And he said, ‘Oh come on Tatiana, that’s actually a woman!’ I was like, ‘What?’ She blew my mind. That was the time, the moment when I realized I wanted to shock people just like her. I just had the feeling or the intuition, like an extra sense that this is what I’m made to do.”
Three of the four current members had essentially no professional musical training when they joined Jinjer, the exception is Vlad the drummer who studied classical piano. They've been a tour heavy band, on the road almost nonstop from 2013 to 2020 and still touring again now since the covid shutdowns, hard work that has made them fantastic live and they make it look effortless. For most of their songs, the three guys write most of the instrument music, then Tatiana writes most of the lyrics and melodies (she gets tons of well deserved credit for her vocal and stage performance abilities, but maybe not quite enough for her lyrical and musical composition abilities). Roman the guitarist has written a lot of the instrument music in the past, so he's a huge part of the beautiful sound of Jinjer, but Vlad the drummer (who also plays guitar and piano, but so far not in most Jinjer songs - I think he played piano in lainnereP) has been writing more of it and wrote nine of the eleven songs for the newest album Wallflowers, videos are out for Vortex, Mediator, Wallflower, Disclosure!, and Call Me A Symbol. Eugene composes some - he wrote the instrument music for one song on Wallflowers and a few songs on other albums, and I know that apart from his amazing work on the bass, he adds a lot of riffs and has written lyrics for a few Jinjer songs.
The band (all members have been Ukrainian, with Russian their first language) started in eastern Ukraine in 2009 as a group of three (then five) with none of the current members (they consider the official start of the band when Tatiana replaced the male vocalist and Roman joined as lead guitar 2009/2010), Vlad is the fifth drummer (joined in 2016 after the third drummer got partially paralyzed from a tragic spine injury and the fourth drummer couldn't keep up with Jinjer's touring schedule) and it's been a group of four since 2015 (though they've considered their road sound engineer Sasha to be a fifth member). I think they're still friends with all the former members and you can see former Jinjer guitarist (and one of the founders of Jinjer) turned actor, Dmitry Oksen, on guitar in older Jinjer videos, and acting as an interrogator in one of their newer videos, Disclosure!
One of the things I love most about Jinjer is the messages in Tatiana's lyrics and the way she combines her beautiful growling and beautiful singing with Jinjer's fantastic instrumentals to be so powerful for expressing the anger and pain in those messages: the anti-war message in Home Back, the anti-greed in On The Top, Mediator and No Hoard Of Value (also the horror of the coal mining industry in their home Ukraine), the protest song Who Is Gonna Be The One, the anti-fascism of Sit Stay Roll Over, the anger at people being narrow minded in Teacher Teacher and Judgment & Punishment, the struggles with mental health in Pit Of Consciousness, Vortex, Wallflower and Perennial, the giving voice to mother nature angry at humanity for letting capitalism destroy her in a bunch of songs like Ape, The Prophecy, Cloud Factory, Noah, Outlander, Dip A Sail and Bad Water. Other favorites of mine are I Speak Astronomy, Retrospection, Words of Wisdom, Just Another, Captain Clock, Scissors, Exposed As A Liar, I Want It I'll Get It, A Plus Or A Minus, When Two Empires Collide, lainnereP, Prologue and Beggar's Dance (those last two are short album bookends that might do well together in one reaction).
I haven't found a Jinjer song I don't love, so I think you can't go wrong if you choose any of them, but a few good choices might be Perennial (official and/or live at Wacken, both are must-see), Teacher Teacher (official), Judgement & Punishment (official and/or Tatiana's one take performance, again both must-see), Pit of Consciousness (official and/or live in Kiev/Kyiv, a third where both are absolutely must-see) or the heartwrenching plea against war in Home Back (official video). Note that because Jinjer has so many great official videos and so many astounding live performance videos, no Jinjer fan will ever mind if you react to a second video for a Jinjer song you've already heard, so whichever songs you choose, whatever pace you like: hope you'll keep trying more Jinjer and enjoy! ❤🖤🤘

Welcome to the Jinjer world🤘 Found this band about two years ago on the eve of my fiftieth birthday. This was just a tip of the iceberg and you will find out that everything they do is pure gold. Happy journey👍 Please check also Tommy Johansson, the lead guitarist of Sabaton, rolling his own channel. That guy is ”phenomenal”😁. His singing performance is out of this world and when that is combined to his guitar skills and the fact that he plays all the other instruments too…WOW! Incredible cover songs and some of his own band Reinxeed/Majestica stuff. New video every Friday…enjoy😊

I bet that was a mega surprise 😂😂😂
My mouth dropped open when I first heard them, I was just gobsmacked by them! Tatiana is an amazing singer, you’ve heard nothing yet 😂, she is also an amazing lyricist, she writes most of the lyrics when the guys have come up with the framework for a new song. As a band they all have such an amazing talent, all superb musicians, one of the few bands I would say you could compare them with for the standard of musicianship is Nightwish - you just have to look at them as well - the Waken 2013 gig has a video of the whole performance, it’s a great album to start with!

For a "real" live performance check out "Perennial" live at Wacken th-cam.com/video/bxi3i9wzQBk/w-d-xo.html . The vocals are all her, but there is a bit of vocal doubling done in the studio on "Pisces". Even without the vocal doubling she has an amazing voice. My favorite Jinjer track is "Teacher, Teacher!" th-cam.com/video/oRkRwL0vjOg/w-d-xo.html . I hope you enjoy your Discovery of Jinjer as much as I have.

The band name was already established before their current lineup was even in the band. They started as a five piece with vocals, two guitarists, bass and drums/percussion. Of the current members Roman (guitars) and Tatiana (vocals) were the first to join in 2010. Eugene (bass) came in about a year later, and their amazingly talented drummer Vlad joined mid 2016 a few months after their original guitarist left with Roman now the lone player. Interesting tidbit regarding Dmitriy (guitar), one of the founding members, plays the role of the officer in the music video for a newer Jinjer track called "Disclosure" from their 2021 release "Wallflowers".

    1. Tatiana is self taught and is actually a very sweet person.

    3. The name Jinjer was already the name of the band when they joined....none of the band members are founding members of Jinjer.
    4. Tatiana is a Pisces... like the name of the song and is represented by 2 fish swimming in a circle. The fish represent light and dark.

I recommend watching their video for the song "Home Back". It's about having to leave their homes in 2014 when Russian-backed separatists took over the region of Ukraine they were born and raised in. It's sadly still very relevant. I do recommend having the lyrics sheet pulled up. As talented as they are and as well as the growl captures the emotion, sometime it's hard to understand the words - and they are fantastic lyrics.
