In that monologue when Steve says something about how Howard stark would never let shield do that Arnim Zola says 'after all, accidents WILL happen..' and shows the newspaper article of Howard stark killed in a car crash, heavily implying it wasn't an accident. So Steve knew they were assassinated by hydra. But not that it was Bucky. That's why he qualifies his first answer as 'i didn't know IT WAS HIM'. But then answers yes the second time because he knew they were assassinated by hydra
To be honest Wanda is looked at as a kid by most of the male Avengers since they are all old as hell. 🤣 Thor is 1,500 years old Capt is almost 100 and Iron Man and Hawkeye are pushing 50 and Banner is not young either.

He is the most successful villain in the MCU so far, unless I'm mistaken. Maybe Thanos is on par for success. The thing is, had Zemo not done what he did, the Avengers may have been strong enough to stop Thanos before he could ever succeed.
@@Cbricklyne Are you sure on that? CA:CW was filmed in 2015, I believe Boseman was diagnosed in 2016 (based on search results). He knew before Black Panther, not CA:CW. I would be incredibly shocked if Marvel/Disney cast him knowing of such late stage cancer. I tried searching online, but all i've been able to find is that a) they learned of his death at the same time as the rest of the world, and b) Feige only learned of his cancer via e-mail an hour before his death (which he didn't even read in time). It's entirely possible that's untrue, and would love to know if you have a source.

in the winter soldier when talking to doctor zola the computer version of him remember he said "accidents happen" and there was a picture of a newspaper saying howard and maria stark (I think that's her name) died in a car crash. So Steve knew that hydra killed tony's parents but he didn't know Bucky did it.
Actually he did know, it would have been in the Hydra file on Bucky that Natasha got for him at the end of The Winter Soldier, which was what she meant by it not being a thread he should pull on.

Yeah, both directors, writers (and the official guidebook) state that Steve had suspicions, but he didn’t *_know_* it was Bucky. As they put it (paraphrasing) he was basically in denial and didn’t want to even entertain the possibility of Bucky being responsible for something so horrible, so he just avoided the situation entirely. “I thought by not telling you about your parents, I was sparing you. But, I can see now…I was really sparing myself.”

Ross showed a lot of footage, but he overlooked Thor’s fight with Malekith in London, Hulk vs Hulkbuster in Johannesburg, and the Avengers vs Ultron and his sentries in Seoul. Steve and Tony swapped ideologies. There was a time when Steve trusted the government, but the times have changed in more ways than one. After what happened with S.H.I.E.L.D. in the present, he knows better than to trust the powers in charge. As for Tony, he always did what he wanted and refused to listen when people tried to dissuade from going overboard. He’s late but he’s finally starting to take accountability and wants to able to continue as Iron Man. Vision delivered a good argument without being hypocritical. He literally knows his own strength. To ordinary people, he’s basically god-level like Thor. For Sam and Rhodey, they didn’t have much of a choice. Even if they did, they were still gonna side with their respective best friends - and not just because of their friendships with them. Rhodey, for instance, is still an active member of the American military whereas Sam has seen the things that Steve saw during the HYDRA uprising. The language T’Chaka spoke is Xhosa. It’s widely spoken in South Africa which is where his actor John Kani is from. Zemo’s actor Daniel Brühl grew up speaking German through his father. He also learned Spanish and Catalan from his mother. Daniel reprised his role as Zemo for the German dub. Sebastian Stan is good at speaking Romanian because he grew up in Constanța, and unless I’m mistaken he did his own motorbike stunt. The elite death squad included some of the actors’ stunt doubles at the time. In a deleted scene when Clint and Nat were fighting: Nat: Don’t you think Laura would be disappointed? Clint: Who, in me or you? In another deleted scene, Nat watches the fight in horror after recovering from Wanda’s attack. While evading War Machine, Cap loses his shield. Bucky grabs it and throws it to War Machine. It bounces off of him and Falcon throws it back to Cap. Cap: Nice save. Bucky: I gotta get me one of those. What’s most interesting about Zemo is that he messed with the Avengers without laying a finger with them. CinemaWins goes into further detail as to how and why his plan worked. In the Latin Spanish dub, when Tony grabs Bucky in the silo, the dialogue gets changed a bit but holds the same meaning: Tony: Do you at least remember my parents? Bucky: I carry them in my mind, too! I also think that Nat and Sam knew about it as well. Nat was with Steve when Zola showed them the article. She also dug up some info on Bucky which might have included some info about that night. And of course, Sam would help Steve look for him. “Tony Stank” is still my favorite Stan Lee cameo in terms of comedy. Also, you know it’s a cool scene when you put three legends in the same room.
Steve didn't know that Bucky killed Howard Stark. He knew that Howard was not killed in an accident because of what Zola said, but he didn't know it was Bucky until he saw the footage. There's no reason to think Steve is a liar.
Wanda is not actually a kid. Some fans assumed she was because of Steve calling her a kid or Hawkeye saying she should go to high school if she wants to mope. But _WandaVision_ reveals she was born in early 1989, making her 27 during the events of _Captain America: Civil War_

2:26 No, those are not codes, and we see just how evil Hydra is. They freeze TWS, thaw him out, drag him to the Memory Suppression Chair and wipe his memories, then program him with those words (like a computer booting up). As you saw in CA: TWS, they have to keep wiping him because Bucky's still in there and they (Hydra) have to keep him down. If he's out of cryo too long, Bucky starts coming back. Once freshly reprogramed, he doesn't recognize his best friend, Steve Rogers, as we saw at least twice in TWS, and once in Civil War.
"Goliath Man," nice comment. In the Civil War comic there was a giant hero named Goliath who was killed by Thor. Thor turned out to be a mind controlled clone created by Tony Stark and Reed Richards. Goliath's death altered the entire course of the Civil War. Heroes killing heroes.
Tony didn't have a suit during the Winter Soldier's rampage, because he was an 'active duty non-combatant'. Basically, because he signed the accords he is ONLY allowed to act if and when he is told to. 'Just in case of emergencies' doesn't work because Tony no longer gets to decide what counts as an emergency. As Steve said, he gave up his right to choose. Theoretically, one of them could use their powers to stop an old lady from getting hit by a bus, and they would technically be in breach of the accords. There would be nothing to stop them from being locked away without a hearing or trial if the wrong person is feeling petty enough. There is massive potential for human rights violations, which is why Steve talked about failsafes. The accords just don't work, because they are about controlling the Avengers, instead of working with them.

@@dragonpride95 If I am correct, in The Incredible Hulk, Banner volunteered on an experiment that was meant to make him resistant to radiation only to realize that he participated on a “Super Soldier Program” that Steve Rogers had (but with Gamma instead of Vita). Fun Fact: Mark Ruffalo was originally the director Louis Leterrier’s first choice for the role of Bruce Banner in The Incredible Hulk.
Wanda and Pietro aren't/weren't children. But relative to Stark and certainly Rogers' age, they are 'kids' by comparison. That's why that comment was made during the confrontation at the UN facility in Europe.
I definitely enjoyed this movie because this kind of based on the comics despite being different but they manage to put it off as being one of the best Captain America films ever, But when you see Avengers Infinity War and Endgame, You won't be disappointed, Great reaction Emme.

In the scene where Tony recruits Peter, at one point he says, "Move your leg, Im going to sit there". That was RDJ talking to Tom Holland out of character because Tom had the blocking wrong. But it fit so well they left it in.
At the time im commening this emme has seen all the mcu movies until spiderman far from home: Imo zemo is probably 1 of 2 villains out of probably over a hundred antagonists/villains in the mcu (him and thanos) unless im forgetting someone and i havent watched ant man or captain marvel or the phase 4 films so i might be missing others. But zemo might honestly be the best villain that marvel carried out because he got hurt and he had a mission, and no matter how many times he tried and failed to get mission report december 16th 1991, he kept persisting, adding to his plans with the drowing hydra agent, to the interview of bucky, to the bomb. And he broke the avengers up in the end, which made infinity war alot harder because thanos could pick off iron mans half whilst the rest defeated captains half. Fairs to zemo

The Captain America trilogy was so good, and built on each preceding film. Cap’s distrust of the government, choosing between the law and morality, risking his neck and even his status as an Avenger to save Bucky, Cap’s relationship with Howard Stark….it all flows so well. And all three films have major repercussions on the MCU
He's just not very smart. If your escape plan involves being able to jump onto the neighboring building at a moment's notice, get an apartment on a lower floor. No need to fight your way down 10 stories then. (And, as Emme notes, if you've been on the run for YEARS, get a haircut. Maybe grow a mustache, or dye your hair.)
I don’t want to be that guy, but murder involves premeditation and intention. They didn’t drop a city specifically on Charlie Spencer, he was just an unfortunate casualty. It wasn’t murder, it was manslaughter.
I don't understand how that's a valid response, the one who shot was Vision, Sam avoided an attack that would've killed him specially without him having any kind of exoeskeleton, the one at fault was and will always be Vision.

Most people forget that because they don’t do explicitly superhuman stuff often. Steve Rogers usually throws the shield around, but this film does the most with him (outrun cars, hold down helicopters, etc)
I don't think Steve meant she was literally a kid. He meant it in the inexperienced, naive way. She's still new to the whole 'saving the world' thing and the ramifications of mistakes that can happen. In that sense, compared to Steve and Tony, she's practically a kid.
When Tony Stark visits Peter Parker and they're talking in Peter's room, when he goes "I'm gonna sit here, so you'll move your leg", that's actually RDJ improvising because Tom Holland forgot to move his leg for him to sit there, and they kept it in because it felt natural. There's a million easter eggs like that in the Marvel movies, and RDJ is probably the reason for half of them, if not more.
Marvel was a fantastic surprise with Phase 1 MCU. Phase 2 really brought everything together and expanded it. Phase 3 is just so amazing I honestly love every single one of the films in this stretch. Seven solid hits, not one miss. Emme is in for a ride!

Bucky is a super soldier as well. In the comics they offered Hawkeye something like that and he said no. The Raft is underwater to be more secure. The Cube is for Gamma prisoners in the desert. The Big House is all prisoners shrunk down and the prison is on a table
My big thing against the Accords though, is that they are lauding on the oversight, but are extremely lack on the accountability; the two main arguments FOR the Accords are voiced by the causes of two out of the three main reasons FOR the Accords [Ross literally MADE Abomination, who caused the destruction in Harlem; and Stark MADE Ultron who caused the destruction in Sakovia] yet nothing hold them more accountable, it just shoves every super-enhanced person together no matter their "guilt". Not to mention, they just spent the last four or so movies establishing that Hydra had taken over S.H.I.E.L.D./Government, but there was no established "clean house" to rid all the parts of Hydra out, so now when the shadow counsel says 'let us be in charge; we know what's best' It makes MY hackles raise.
@@markcruz359 I wouldn't consider that a spoiler since she's not going to know who Bill Foster is from the comics to get that reference for the "ah ha" moment like I had, and it doesn't reveal his role in Ant-man and the Wasp, just a name. So it only reveals that there are other characters in the movie, one who is a guy with a name (or a girl with a surprising name) who may or may not have any impact on the story and if so no indication of what.
One of my favorite things to note in the airport fight is that vision can make mistakes and misjudge a situation. He isn't perfect and all-knowing, rhodey wouldn't have been injured if he didn't miscalculate that shot.
Great movie. But the one big flaw for me is the Accords themselves. All the Avengers had to say to Ross is "If we had followed orders in the battle of NY, you would have nuked Manhattan." Try to force the accords, and maybe the press finds out that.
No spoilers for Emme (might be some in the replies though!) I have a hard time approving of Team Tony for 3 major reasons. 1. Tony refused to listen to Cap about the truth several times. The entire plot hinges on this refusal to listen. 2. Spiderman and T'Challa both did not sign The Accords and were still doing illegal superheroing. Meaning Tony immediately ignores the Accords. Not a single member of Team Tony upholds The Accords throughout Phase 4, in fact. 3. Tony had to guide a nuke out of New York because he disagreed with the decision of a government panel. Why he would suddenly listen to the government is beyond me, especially when his entire character has openly opposed that kind of weaponization of himself and his suit. This feels like a 180, only caused by his personal guilt over creating Ultron.
Hey, Emme! "Captain America: Civil War" is the jewel in the MCU's crown. It is also my favorite MCU movie. Although it is the third Captain America entry, this chapter in the saga is more of an Avengers-level event involving every major character except Thor, Hulk and Fury while introducing three new players into the mix including the team's most subtle and successful antagonist to date! The plot is loosely based on the landmark 2006 Marvel event comic "Civil War" by writer Mark Millar and artist Steve McNiven which saw the superhero community split ideologically into two factions led by Iron Man and Captain America over the Superhuman Registration Act following an unintentional incident of mass destruction with many civilian casualties perpetrated by well-meaning super-powered individuals. The government-sponsored Act requires registration of anyone with powers into a database for purposes of surveillance and accountability which, in some cases, means unmasking heroes with secret identities. In the film, the UN issues the Sokovia Accords subjecting the Avengers to international oversight in the wake of the chaos they've unleashed during their heroic exploits in Monaco, New Mexico, New York, Greenwich, Washington, D.C., Johannesburg, Seoul, Sokovia and, at the story's outset, in Lagos, Nigeria. The thought-provoking script presents two equally valid arguments the audience must wrestle with as much as the characters do culminating with a shattering revelation that irrevocably alters the MCU's status quo. The final, sobering twist of both comic and movie is that the victor wins the war but loses the argument. On the page, Cap wins but realizes the cost of victory and surrenders only to be assassinated. On the screen, Tony's legal victory results in the team's dissolution. Co-directors Joe and Anthony Russo return from "The Winter Soldier" bringing the grounded, gritty tonality of that film to this massive enterprise. The duo excel at staging intense and kinetic action sequences which, in this movie, all seem to unfold in two parts such as the Nigerian skirmish with Rumlow outside the lab and within the bazaar, the Romanian takedown of Bucky in the stairwell and on the freeway, the Austrian breakout of the Winter Soldier in the lobby and on the helipad, and the Siberian duel between Cap and Tony in the silo shaft and at its base. I love how the directors took pains to recreate the iconic image from the comic event of Iron Man firing his repulsors full-blast at Captain America bracing himself behind his shield. The incredible centerpiece at the German airport, though, outclasses them all and is arguably the best superhero fight ever seen in cinema as the Avengers split down the middle and engage in an all-out battle royale! Taking a page from the "X-Men" films, the combat in this sequence is predicated on coordinating and nullifying powers. Cap's strategic acumen also stands in bold relief against Tony's attempt at intimidation. Stark relies utterly on having the most sophisticated tech and the biggest guns yet Steve neatly outmaneuvers him at every turn! The screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely elegantly advances plot and develops character in each of those set pieces but also includes fantastic dialogue during expository scenes like Ross' ultimatum, the team's debate, Tony's olive branch, Zemo's monologue and the Panther's magnificently dignified introspection about vengeance. The cast is sprawling pulling from all the franchises to date except "Guardians of the Galaxy". Chris Evans returns as Steve Rogers aka Captain America whose motives are somewhat tainted this time around. He is joined by Sebastian Stan as James Buchanan 'Bucky' Barnes aka The Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson aka Falcon, Emily VanCamp as Peggy Carter's niece, Sharon Carter aka Agent 13, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch and Frank Grillo as a maimed Brock Rumlow aka Crossbones. Robert Downey, Jr. returns as a Pepper-less Tony Stark aka Iron Man burdened with more guilt than ever. He is joined by Don Cheadle as Col. James 'Rhodey' Rhodes aka War Machine, Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow, Paul Bettany as Vision, Kerry Condon as FRIDAY and John Slattery as the elder Howard Stark. Johansson leaves the proceedings three-quarters of the way through to begin her own personal adventure in "Black Widow"! Initially introduced in "Thor", Jeremy Renner returns as Clint Barton aka Hawkeye, the sole representative of that franchise. Paul Rudd returns as Scott Lang aka Ant-Man from his own film only to unveil a second alter-ego, Giant Man! Returning from "The Incredible Hulk" is William Hurt as General Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross now in the role of Secretary of State. Chadwick Boseman is introduced as T'Challa aka Black Panther who emerges as the true hero of the piece. He is joined by John Kani as his father, King T'Chaka, Florence Kasumba as Ayo, one of his Dora Milaje, and Martin Freeman as CIA Agent Everett Ross. Tom Holland is introduced as Peter Parker aka Spider-Man with Marisa Tomei as the youngest version of Aunt May Parker yet. Daniel Bruhl slyly slinks his way through the film until his grand scheme is revealed as master manipulator Baron Helmut Zemo, here reframed as an ex-Sokovian intelligence officer. Two veteran actresses play mothers who alter Tony's trajectory at critical points in the story: Hope Davis portrays his mom, Maria Stark, while Alfre Woodard portrays grieving mom Miriam Spencer who saddles Stark with a major guilt trip. Gene Farber plays the Soviet-embedded Hydra Colonel Karpov who once served as the Winter Soldier's handler. In a bit part, Jim Rash of "Community" plays a wheedling MIT faculty member. TRIVIA: 1. The film's release year coincides with the 75th anniversary of Captain America, the 50th anniversary of Black Panther and the 10th anniversary of the Civil War event. 2. Sharon's eulogy is a verbatim quote by Captain America from Amazing Spider-Man 537 which, in turn, is based on sentiments expressed by Mark Twain in his essay "In A Republic, Who Is The Country?". 3. When Bucky wrests a motorcycle from under its rider and climbs aboard it during the freeway chase, the stunt was accomplished practically without use of CGI! 4. Chris Evans knew the helicopter wrangling scene was going to be used to promote the film and vigorously pumped iron for hours prior to shooting what he called his 'bicep porn' money shot. The angle he was positioned in as well as the considerable strain of flexing his arm to generate the huge bulge seen in the movie caused injury to his muscle. 5. Tony's "Underoos" summons of Spider-Man is in reference to a 1977 underwear line that featured superheroes on them the most popular of which was Spider-Man. 6. The female super-soldier in Siberia is played by Heidi Moneymaker who has been Scarlett Johansson's stunt double since "Iron Man 2". EASTER EGGS: 1. At the press conference held upon Tony's return from Afghanistan in "Iron Man", he opens with the line, "I never got to say goodbye to my father." During the B.A.R.F. holographic re-enactment of his parents' departure, Maria tells Tony to "say goodbye to your father" demonstrating the therapeutic use of the technology to achieve closure as well as recalling for the audience Tony's regret. 2. When Black Widow quips to Bucky that he could at least recognize her, she is referring to in-Universe encounters like the Odessa mission and the events of "The Winter Soldier" but it is also a nod to their comic book history for fans who are aware that the Winter Soldier trained the Black Widows. 3. When Ant-Man perches on the tip of Hawkeye's arrow awaiting to be sent into flight, the image is a direct reference to the cover art of Avengers 223! 4. 'Redwing' is what Sam calls his drone but, in the comics, Falcon is accompanied by an actual falcon called Redwing with whom he shares a telepathic link! 5. Steve exhaustedly tells Tony that he "can do this all day" during their final duel as a callback to his defiant boast against the back alley bully in "The First Avenger". CAMEOS: 1. Co-director Joe Russo appears as the slain psychiatrist Dr. Theo Broussard who is impersonated by Zemo. 2. Stan Lee appears as a FedEx delivery man carrying a package containing a flip phone programmed with Cap's contact number which he misreads as being addressed to Tony STANK. END-CREDIT SCENES: 1. In a state-of-the-art cryogenic facility, Bucky agrees to be frozen until he can be safely deprogrammed. Cap thanks T'Challa for offering his friend refuge but warns him that he may be leaving his nation vulnerable to anyone who might be seeking The Winter Soldier. The prince confidently replies, "Let them try.", as they look out the window onto the dense jungle of Wakanda above which towers a giant sculpture of Bast, the Panther Goddess. 2. In their Queens apartment, Aunt May tends to Peter's bruises as he downplays the fracas as a local run-in all the while concealing the smart suit's holographic menu display complete with Spider signal which he triggered on the web-shooter. The next chronological stop in the MCU are Episodes 20-22 of Season 3 of "Agents of SHIELD" which conclude the third season of the show followed by the film "Black Widow" MINUS the end-credit scene set in 2024. "Black Widow" begins after the scene where Tony warns her that Ross is coming to arrest her.

Honestly if the Avengers were real, i would be pro-accords. The fact that they have zero control over Banner means they are relying on us to “just trust them” That dosent fill my heart with “good faith”😂
I side with Cap any day. All these things they were blamed for, they were started by the bad guys. Things would have been worse if the Avengers didn't do anything. There are some people who would launch a nuke at a populated city rather than give the heroes a chance to end the invasion. Plus some people say Bucky deserves to die for what he did and they forget he was being controlled. He was just a gun for Hydra. If you kill someone with a gun, do you hold the gun responsible? Side note: I enjoyed Chadwick's performance as Black Panther and I'm looking forward to your next MCU reactions.
None of that matters though. Cap was fighting a battle he was never going to win, over 100 countries had already signed. If they had went with the accords, they could have made amendments that would have eased the restrictions.
Exactly! The Accords were utterly stupid and unconstitutional. It's like forbidding people who know CPR from using it until they get some kind of government approval. General/Secretary Ross is the longest-running villain in the MCU. Everything he does is wrong. There are already laws in place that can be used. Wanda can be prosecuted or sued without the Sokovia Accords. Or anyone else. If the government of Lagos decided they preferred their country being wiped out by the bio-weapon, they can punish the Avengers through normal means. There is extradition, or they can be barred from ever coming back, under threat of being arrested, etc. The Accords are 100% wrong, and Tony should know this after the government tried to take his suit in IM2, and after they tried to nuke New York, and after all the corruption revealed in SHIELD, and with the Vice President in IM3, and after his conversation with Peter about how you are morally obligated to help if you have the ability to. Tony should have known better! The basic idea of the Sokovia Accords is: "With great power comes somebody else's responsibility."
Black Panther, Bucky Barnes, and Captain America are all superhumans. Bucky also underwent through super soldier serum experiments just like CAP. Hence he is physically superhuman.
honestly, i wouldn't have signed it. So many people would have died before they would even be allowed to go find the bad guy. If they didn't sign it, they could find the bad guy before terrible deaths would have happened.
The real-world view of this movie is there is no black and white. Everything is in shades of gray. Both Cap & Tony had valid arguments, and neither was completely right, or wrong. That's what makes this movie so incredible, and tragic.

Wanda got most of her powers from the Mind Stone. That Stone is in Vision's head. It was inevitable they would become connected. Her powers will also increase just from being so close to it for an extended time. Drawing power from the Stone is how she is able to overpower Vision.
The guy in the tub was co-director Joe Russo. He was also the doctor who fixed up Nick Fury in The Winter Soldier. And he's going to show up in Endgame, too. He and his brother Anthony directed all those movies. And they're from Cleveland, so there you go.

I hated this movie so much when it came out coz of Tony hijacking Steve's movie. In fact I think he gets more lines and screen time, it's ridiculous. If it was an Avengers movie it would be okay, i'd still hate Tony in it unfortunately, especially him also hijacking another one of my fave character's origin stories with Spiderman (who was just a kid who he sent to war wtf). I still think us Cap fans deserved a real Captain America 3.
The dialogue between Peter and Tony when they first meet has some layers. In addition to Tony implying he knows who Peter is, he’s also referencing the deal between Disney and Sony to get Spider-Man in the movie (as well as the Sony email hacks that blew the secret). And also references the casting criticism about Marisa Tomei as Aunt May.

In winter soldier when the Arnim Zola AI machine traps captain America and black widow in the room he talks about hydras new method of creating a world of chaos where people willingly give up their freedoms for security. In that monologue when Steve says something about how Howard stark would never let shield do that Arnim Zola says 'after all, accidents WILL happen..' and shows the newspaper article of Howard stark killed in a car crash, heavily implying it wasn't an accident.
So Steve knew they were assassinated by hydra. But not that it was Bucky.
That's why he qualifies his first answer as 'i didn't know IT WAS HIM'. But then answers yes the second time because he knew they were assassinated by hydra

Zemo's didn't need any superpowers to do damage to the Avengers. That makes him a top tier villain.
He is the most successful villain in the MCU so far, unless I'm mistaken. Maybe Thanos is on par for success. The thing is, had Zemo not done what he did, the Avengers may have been strong enough to stop Thanos before he could ever succeed.
And then they ruin him in the tv show for comedic relief. So dissappointing

@@Cbricklyne Are you sure on that? CA:CW was filmed in 2015, I believe Boseman was diagnosed in 2016 (based on search results). He knew before Black Panther, not CA:CW. I would be incredibly shocked if Marvel/Disney cast him knowing of such late stage cancer. I tried searching online, but all i've been able to find is that a) they learned of his death at the same time as the rest of the world, and b) Feige only learned of his cancer via e-mail an hour before his death (which he didn't even read in time). It's entirely possible that's untrue, and would love to know if you have a source.

in the winter soldier when talking to doctor zola the computer version of him remember he said "accidents happen" and there was a picture of a newspaper saying howard and maria stark (I think that's her name) died in a car crash. So Steve knew that hydra killed tony's parents but he didn't know Bucky did it.
Actually he did know, it would have been in the Hydra file on Bucky that Natasha got for him at the end of The Winter Soldier, which was what she meant by it not being a thread he should pull on.

Yeah, both directors, writers (and the official guidebook) state that Steve had suspicions, but he didn’t *_know_* it was Bucky. As they put it (paraphrasing) he was basically in denial and didn’t want to even entertain the possibility of Bucky being responsible for something so horrible, so he just avoided the situation entirely.

Ross showed a lot of footage, but he overlooked Thor’s fight with Malekith in London, Hulk vs Hulkbuster in Johannesburg, and the Avengers vs Ultron and his sentries in Seoul.
Steve and Tony swapped ideologies. There was a time when Steve trusted the government, but the times have changed in more ways than one. After what happened with S.H.I.E.L.D. in the present, he knows better than to trust the powers in charge.
As for Tony, he always did what he wanted and refused to listen when people tried to dissuade from going overboard. He’s late but he’s finally starting to take accountability and wants to able to continue as Iron Man.
Vision delivered a good argument without being hypocritical. He literally knows his own strength. To ordinary people, he’s basically god-level like Thor.
For Sam and Rhodey, they didn’t have much of a choice. Even if they did, they were still gonna side with their respective best friends - and not just because of their friendships with them. Rhodey, for instance, is still an active member of the American military whereas Sam has seen the things that Steve saw during the HYDRA uprising.
The language T’Chaka spoke is Xhosa. It’s widely spoken in South Africa which is where his actor John Kani is from.
Zemo’s actor Daniel Brühl grew up speaking German through his father. He also learned Spanish and Catalan from his mother. Daniel reprised his role as Zemo for the German dub.
Sebastian Stan is good at speaking Romanian because he grew up in Constanța, and unless I’m mistaken he did his own motorbike stunt.
The elite death squad included some of the actors’ stunt doubles at the time.
In a deleted scene when Clint and Nat were fighting:

In another deleted scene, Nat watches the fight in horror after recovering from Wanda’s attack. While evading War Machine, Cap loses his shield. Bucky grabs it and throws it to War Machine. It bounces off of him and Falcon throws it back to Cap.

What’s most interesting about Zemo is that he messed with the Avengers without laying a finger with them. CinemaWins goes into further detail as to how and why his plan worked.
In the Latin Spanish dub, when Tony grabs Bucky in the silo, the dialogue gets changed a bit but holds the same meaning:
Tony: Do you at least remember my parents?
Bucky: I carry them in my mind, too!
I also think that Nat and Sam knew about it as well. Nat was with Steve when Zola showed them the article. She also dug up some info on Bucky which might have included some info about that night. And of course, Sam would help Steve look for him.
“Tony Stank” is still my favorite Stan Lee cameo in terms of comedy. Also, you know it’s a cool scene when you put three legends in the same room.

Steve didn't know that Bucky killed Howard Stark. He knew that Howard was not killed in an accident because of what Zola said, but he didn't know it was Bucky until he saw the footage. There's no reason to think Steve is a liar.
Wanda is not actually a kid. Some fans assumed she was because of Steve calling her a kid or Hawkeye saying she should go to high school if she wants to mope. But _WandaVision_ reveals she was born in early 1989, making her 27 during the events of _Captain America: Civil War_

2:26 No, those are not codes, and we see just how evil Hydra is. They freeze TWS, thaw him out, drag him to the Memory Suppression Chair and wipe his memories, then program him with those words (like a computer booting up). As you saw in CA: TWS, they have to keep wiping him because Bucky's still in there and they (Hydra) have to keep him down. If he's out of cryo too long, Bucky starts coming back. Once freshly reprogramed, he doesn't recognize his best friend, Steve Rogers, as we saw at least twice in TWS, and once in Civil War.

Tony didn't have a suit during the Winter Soldier's rampage, because he was an 'active duty non-combatant'. Basically, because he signed the accords he is ONLY allowed to act if and when he is told to. 'Just in case of emergencies' doesn't work because Tony no longer gets to decide what counts as an emergency. As Steve said, he gave up his right to choose. Theoretically, one of them could use their powers to stop an old lady from getting hit by a bus, and they would technically be in breach of the accords. There would be nothing to stop them from being locked away without a hearing or trial if the wrong person is feeling petty enough. There is massive potential for human rights violations, which is why Steve talked about failsafes. The accords just don't work, because they are about controlling the Avengers, instead of working with them.

Fun Fact: Mark Ruffalo was originally the director Louis Leterrier’s first choice for the role of Bruce Banner in The Incredible Hulk.
Wanda and Pietro aren't/weren't children. But relative to Stark and certainly Rogers' age, they are 'kids' by comparison. That's why that comment was made during the confrontation at the UN facility in Europe.
I definitely enjoyed this movie because this kind of based on the comics despite being different but they manage to put it off as being one of the best Captain America films ever, But when you see Avengers Infinity War and Endgame, You won't be disappointed, Great reaction Emme.

What’s ironic is that despite Thaddeus Ross and Everett Ross sharing the same last names, they’re NOT related.
In the scene where Tony recruits Peter, at one point he says, "Move your leg, Im going to sit there". That was RDJ talking to Tom Holland out of character because Tom had the blocking wrong. But it fit so well they left it in.

Imo zemo is probably 1 of 2 villains out of probably over a hundred antagonists/villains in the mcu (him and thanos) unless im forgetting someone and i havent watched ant man or captain marvel or the phase 4 films so i might be missing others. But zemo might honestly be the best villain that marvel carried out because he got hurt and he had a mission, and no matter how many times he tried and failed to get mission report december 16th 1991, he kept persisting, adding to his plans with the drowing hydra agent, to the interview of bucky, to the bomb. And he broke the avengers up in the end, which made infinity war alot harder because thanos could pick off iron mans half whilst the rest defeated captains half. Fairs to zemo

The Captain America trilogy was so good, and built on each preceding film. Cap’s distrust of the government, choosing between the law and morality, risking his neck and even his status as an Avenger to save Bucky, Cap’s relationship with Howard Stark….it all flows so well. And all three films have major repercussions on the MCU

Most people forget that because they don’t do explicitly superhuman stuff often. Steve Rogers usually throws the shield around, but this film does the most with him (outrun cars, hold down helicopters, etc)
I don't think Steve meant she was literally a kid. He meant it in the inexperienced, naive way. She's still new to the whole 'saving the world' thing and the ramifications of mistakes that can happen.
In that sense, compared to Steve and Tony, she's practically a kid.
When Tony Stark visits Peter Parker and they're talking in Peter's room, when he goes "I'm gonna sit here, so you'll move your leg", that's actually RDJ improvising because Tom Holland forgot to move his leg for him to sit there, and they kept it in because it felt natural. There's a million easter eggs like that in the Marvel movies, and RDJ is probably the reason for half of them, if not more.

Marvel was a fantastic surprise with Phase 1 MCU. Phase 2 really brought everything together and expanded it. Phase 3 is just so amazing I honestly love every single one of the films in this stretch. Seven solid hits, not one miss. Emme is in for a ride!

Bucky is a super soldier as well. In the comics they offered Hawkeye something like that and he said no. The Raft is underwater to be more secure. The Cube is for Gamma prisoners in the desert.

My big thing against the Accords though, is that they are lauding on the oversight, but are extremely lack on the accountability; the two main arguments FOR the Accords are voiced by the causes of two out of the three main reasons FOR the Accords [Ross literally MADE Abomination, who caused the destruction in Harlem; and Stark MADE Ultron who caused the destruction in Sakovia] yet nothing hold them more accountable, it just shoves every super-enhanced person together no matter their "guilt".
Not to mention, they just spent the last four or so movies establishing that Hydra had taken over S.H.I.E.L.D./Government, but there was no established "clean house" to rid all the parts of Hydra out, so now when the shadow counsel says 'let us be in charge; we know what's best' It makes MY hackles raise.

One of my favorite things to note in the airport fight is that vision can make mistakes and misjudge a situation. He isn't perfect and all-knowing, rhodey wouldn't have been injured if he didn't miscalculate that shot.
Great movie. But the one big flaw for me is the Accords themselves. All the Avengers had to say to Ross is "If we had followed orders in the battle of NY, you would have nuked Manhattan." Try to force the accords, and maybe the press finds out that.
Ross had nothing to do with that. That was the since-dismantled World Security Council.

I have a hard time approving of Team Tony for 3 major reasons.
1. Tony refused to listen to Cap about the truth several times. The entire plot hinges on this refusal to listen.
2. Spiderman and T'Challa both did not sign The Accords and were still doing illegal superheroing. Meaning Tony immediately ignores the Accords. Not a single member of Team Tony upholds The Accords throughout Phase 4, in fact.
3. Tony had to guide a nuke out of New York because he disagreed with the decision of a government panel. Why he would suddenly listen to the government is beyond me, especially when his entire character has openly opposed that kind of weaponization of himself and his suit. This feels like a 180, only caused by his personal guilt over creating Ultron.

Hey, Emme! "Captain America: Civil War" is the jewel in the MCU's crown. It is also my favorite MCU movie. Although it is the third Captain America entry, this chapter in the saga is more of an Avengers-level event involving every major character except Thor, Hulk and Fury while introducing three new players into the mix including the team's most subtle and successful antagonist to date! The plot is loosely based on the landmark 2006 Marvel event comic "Civil War" by writer Mark Millar and artist Steve McNiven which saw the superhero community split ideologically into two factions led by Iron Man and Captain America over the Superhuman Registration Act following an unintentional incident of mass destruction with many civilian casualties perpetrated by well-meaning super-powered individuals. The government-sponsored Act requires registration of anyone with powers into a database for purposes of surveillance and accountability which, in some cases, means unmasking heroes with secret identities. In the film, the UN issues the Sokovia Accords subjecting the Avengers to international oversight in the wake of the chaos they've unleashed during their heroic exploits in Monaco, New Mexico, New York, Greenwich, Washington, D.C., Johannesburg, Seoul, Sokovia and, at the story's outset, in Lagos, Nigeria. The thought-provoking script presents two equally valid arguments the audience must wrestle with as much as the characters do culminating with a shattering revelation that irrevocably alters the MCU's status quo. The final, sobering twist of both comic and movie is that the victor wins the war but loses the argument. On the page, Cap wins but realizes the cost of victory and surrenders only to be assassinated. On the screen, Tony's legal victory results in the team's dissolution.
Co-directors Joe and Anthony Russo return from "The Winter Soldier" bringing the grounded, gritty tonality of that film to this massive enterprise. The duo excel at staging intense and kinetic action sequences which, in this movie, all seem to unfold in two parts such as the Nigerian skirmish with Rumlow outside the lab and within the bazaar, the Romanian takedown of Bucky in the stairwell and on the freeway, the Austrian breakout of the Winter Soldier in the lobby and on the helipad, and the Siberian duel between Cap and Tony in the silo shaft and at its base. I love how the directors took pains to recreate the iconic image from the comic event of Iron Man firing his repulsors full-blast at Captain America bracing himself behind his shield. The incredible centerpiece at the German airport, though, outclasses them all and is arguably the best superhero fight ever seen in cinema as the Avengers split down the middle and engage in an all-out battle royale! Taking a page from the "X-Men" films, the combat in this sequence is predicated on coordinating and nullifying powers. Cap's strategic acumen also stands in bold relief against Tony's attempt at intimidation. Stark relies utterly on having the most sophisticated tech and the biggest guns yet Steve neatly outmaneuvers him at every turn! The screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely elegantly advances plot and develops character in each of those set pieces but also includes fantastic dialogue during expository scenes like Ross' ultimatum, the team's debate, Tony's olive branch, Zemo's monologue and the Panther's magnificently dignified introspection about vengeance.
The cast is sprawling pulling from all the franchises to date except "Guardians of the Galaxy". Chris Evans returns as Steve Rogers aka Captain America whose motives are somewhat tainted this time around. He is joined by Sebastian Stan as James Buchanan 'Bucky' Barnes aka The Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson aka Falcon, Emily VanCamp as Peggy Carter's niece, Sharon Carter aka Agent 13, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch and Frank Grillo as a maimed Brock Rumlow aka Crossbones. Robert Downey, Jr. returns as a Pepper-less Tony Stark aka Iron Man burdened with more guilt than ever. He is joined by Don Cheadle as Col. James 'Rhodey' Rhodes aka War Machine, Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow, Paul Bettany as Vision, Kerry Condon as FRIDAY and John Slattery as the elder Howard Stark. Johansson leaves the proceedings three-quarters of the way through to begin her own personal adventure in "Black Widow"! Initially introduced in "Thor", Jeremy Renner returns as Clint Barton aka Hawkeye, the sole representative of that franchise. Paul Rudd returns as Scott Lang aka Ant-Man from his own film only to unveil a second alter-ego, Giant Man! Returning from "The Incredible Hulk" is William Hurt as General Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross now in the role of Secretary of State. Chadwick Boseman is introduced as T'Challa aka Black Panther who emerges as the true hero of the piece. He is joined by John Kani as his father, King T'Chaka, Florence Kasumba as Ayo, one of his Dora Milaje, and Martin Freeman as CIA Agent Everett Ross. Tom Holland is introduced as Peter Parker aka Spider-Man with Marisa Tomei as the youngest version of Aunt May Parker yet. Daniel Bruhl slyly slinks his way through the film until his grand scheme is revealed as master manipulator Baron Helmut Zemo, here reframed as an ex-Sokovian intelligence officer. Two veteran actresses play mothers who alter Tony's trajectory at critical points in the story: Hope Davis portrays his mom, Maria Stark, while Alfre Woodard portrays grieving mom Miriam Spencer who saddles Stark with a major guilt trip. Gene Farber plays the Soviet-embedded Hydra Colonel Karpov who once served as the Winter Soldier's handler. In a bit part, Jim Rash of "Community" plays a wheedling MIT faculty member.
TRIVIA:
1. The film's release year coincides with the 75th anniversary of Captain America, the 50th anniversary of Black Panther and the 10th anniversary of the Civil War event.
2. Sharon's eulogy is a verbatim quote by Captain America from Amazing Spider-Man 537 which, in turn, is based on sentiments expressed by Mark Twain in his essay "In A Republic, Who Is The Country?".
3. When Bucky wrests a motorcycle from under its rider and climbs aboard it during the freeway chase, the stunt was accomplished practically without use of CGI!
4. Chris Evans knew the helicopter wrangling scene was going to be used to promote the film and vigorously pumped iron for hours prior to shooting what he called his 'bicep porn' money shot. The angle he was positioned in as well as the considerable strain of flexing his arm to generate the huge bulge seen in the movie caused injury to his muscle.
5. Tony's "Underoos" summons of Spider-Man is in reference to a 1977 underwear line that featured superheroes on them the most popular of which was Spider-Man.
6. The female super-soldier in Siberia is played by Heidi Moneymaker who has been Scarlett Johansson's stunt double since "Iron Man 2".
EASTER EGGS:
1. At the press conference held upon Tony's return from Afghanistan in "Iron Man", he opens with the line, "I never got to say goodbye to my father." During the B.A.R.F. holographic re-enactment of his parents' departure, Maria tells Tony to "say goodbye to your father" demonstrating the therapeutic use of the technology to achieve closure as well as recalling for the audience Tony's regret.
2. When Black Widow quips to Bucky that he could at least recognize her, she is referring to in-Universe encounters like the Odessa mission and the events of "The Winter Soldier" but it is also a nod to their comic book history for fans who are aware that the Winter Soldier trained the Black Widows.
3. When Ant-Man perches on the tip of Hawkeye's arrow awaiting to be sent into flight, the image is a direct reference to the cover art of Avengers 223!
4. 'Redwing' is what Sam calls his drone but, in the comics, Falcon is accompanied by an actual falcon called Redwing with whom he shares a telepathic link!
5. Steve exhaustedly tells Tony that he "can do this all day" during their final duel as a callback to his defiant boast against the back alley bully in "The First Avenger".
CAMEOS:
1. Co-director Joe Russo appears as the slain psychiatrist Dr. Theo Broussard who is impersonated by Zemo.
2. Stan Lee appears as a FedEx delivery man carrying a package containing a flip phone programmed with Cap's contact number which he misreads as being addressed to Tony STANK.
END-CREDIT SCENES:
1. In a state-of-the-art cryogenic facility, Bucky agrees to be frozen until he can be safely deprogrammed. Cap thanks T'Challa for offering his friend refuge but warns him that he may be leaving his nation vulnerable to anyone who might be seeking The Winter Soldier. The prince confidently replies, "Let them try.", as they look out the window onto the dense jungle of Wakanda above which towers a giant sculpture of Bast, the Panther Goddess.
2. In their Queens apartment, Aunt May tends to Peter's bruises as he downplays the fracas as a local run-in all the while concealing the smart suit's holographic menu display complete with Spider signal which he triggered on the web-shooter.
The next chronological stop in the MCU are Episodes 20-22 of Season 3 of "Agents of SHIELD" which conclude the third season of the show followed by the film "Black Widow" MINUS the end-credit scene set in 2024. "Black Widow" begins after the scene where Tony warns her that Ross is coming to arrest her.

I side with Cap any day. All these things they were blamed for, they were started by the bad guys. Things would have been worse if the Avengers didn't do anything. There are some people who would launch a nuke at a populated city rather than give the heroes a chance to end the invasion. Plus some people say Bucky deserves to die for what he did and they forget he was being controlled. He was just a gun for Hydra. If you kill someone with a gun, do you hold the gun responsible? Side note: I enjoyed Chadwick's performance as Black Panther and I'm looking forward to your next MCU reactions.
None of that matters though. Cap was fighting a battle he was never going to win, over 100 countries had already signed. If they had went with the accords, they could have made amendments that would have eased the restrictions.
Exactly! The Accords were utterly stupid and unconstitutional. It's like forbidding people who know CPR from using it until they get some kind of government approval. General/Secretary Ross is the longest-running villain in the MCU. Everything he does is wrong. There are already laws in place that can be used. Wanda can be prosecuted or sued without the Sokovia Accords. Or anyone else. If the government of Lagos decided they preferred their country being wiped out by the bio-weapon, they can punish the Avengers through normal means. There is extradition, or they can be barred from ever coming back, under threat of being arrested, etc.
The Accords are 100% wrong, and Tony should know this after the government tried to take his suit in IM2, and after they tried to nuke New York, and after all the corruption revealed in SHIELD, and with the Vice President in IM3, and after his conversation with Peter about how you are morally obligated to help if you have the ability to. Tony should have known better!
The basic idea of the Sokovia Accords is: "With great power comes somebody else's responsibility."

The real-world view of this movie is there is no black and white. Everything is in shades of gray. Both Cap & Tony had valid arguments, and neither was completely right, or wrong. That's what makes this movie so incredible, and tragic.

Wanda got most of her powers from the Mind Stone. That Stone is in Vision's head. It was inevitable they would become connected. Her powers will also increase just from being so close to it for an extended time. Drawing power from the Stone is how she is able to overpower Vision.

I hated this movie so much when it came out coz of Tony hijacking Steve's movie. In fact I think he gets more lines and screen time, it's ridiculous. If it was an Avengers movie it would be okay, i'd still hate Tony in it unfortunately, especially him also hijacking another one of my fave character's origin stories with Spiderman (who was just a kid who he sent to war wtf). I still think us Cap fans deserved a real Captain America 3.
The dialogue between Peter and Tony when they first meet has some layers. In addition to Tony implying he knows who Peter is, he’s also referencing the deal between Disney and Sony to get Spider-Man in the movie (as well as the Sony email hacks that blew the secret). And also references the casting criticism about Marisa Tomei as Aunt May.
