      also yes, the snap is literally random. Everyone in the universe has 50/50 chances to die or not, even Thanos.Thats why he looks his own hands after the snap and then looks Thor to know if he, Thor or even both were selected by the stones to die

    I feel I should clarify something, Thanos didn't just wipe out half of humanity; He wiped out half of all life in the universe. And yes, it is random, he didn't control who or what was turned to dust. As he said to Strange about his plan for saving Titan, "At random, dispassionate and fair to rich and poor alike..."

      There were a few exceptions where it wasn't random. Several deals were made in exchange for stones. For his help gaining the Power Stone, Thanos destroyed Xandar, Vision was told Wanda would be spared if he surrendered the Mind Stone, he didn't and Wanda was dusted. Deals were also made with Dr. Strange to spare Tony and Gamora to spare Nebula. Everybody he promised to spare, survived if the stone was given freely.

    The big thing to know about Thanos killing Gamora, is that he sacrifices her because he truly believes that he needs all the stones to save the universe. For me when I went to see it with a friend, I knew what the outcome would be - not because of spoilers, but because I am familiar with the source material and also it's the way I'd write it - I just didn't know the ~how~ so in my opening night theater everyone was cheering right up until Tony gets stabbed: that's when the silence started. There were gasps as Strange summoned the Time Stone and handed it over, and when Wanda killed vision there was already sobbing...and as Thanos turned the Gauntlet, activating the Time Stone, there were literal cries of "No!" shouted in the theater. I was holding my friends hand as she was crying (and honestly, I was holding back tears, with a slightly evil smirk on my face) as the Mind Stone gets ripped out. There was the briefest cheer as Stormbreaker sunk into Thanos' chest, but a few people said it right before Thanos, the "should have gone for the head".
      Silence.
      For the remainder of the film, through the credits, through then end scene, the only sound that could be heard in that whole theater was people trying to hold back their sobbing. There was no end credits music, just the silent scroll of names. It was a truly awesome experience, in the truest sense of the word: a time full of awe. It was such a stark contrast to all of the rest of the movie, with various Avengers and Guardians making appearances and being incredible.
      End Game is going to be a ~ride~.

    Thanos doesn't really see it as him killing half the universe. He sees it that he's saving half of it. He believes that as resources and such dwindle, overall more life would be lost. He also says that he sees it as a kind of mercy. Would you rather die by slowly starving or dying of thirst? Or simply by being very quickly turned to ash? Thanos has very little interest in what lives and dies, more just that half of all living things die. Overall this movie isn't about the Avengers, it's about Thanos.

    Using the words of spider-man: When you see all the bad things happening and you don't do anything about it, the bad things happened because of you. Thanos used the same logic seeing his planet dying and tried his best to prevent it, with that in his mind he decided to become the hero and make the big decisions and stepping in for people in order to save them. Calling him a villain would be calling spider-man one because it's the same logic. We're all villains in someone's story and that's why i love Thanos in this movie. He is the protagonist in this movie.

I was in shock but felt this was brilliant movie making. We are so conditioned to see the good guys win in the end. Here, Thanos won and for all we knew our heroes are dead. This reminded me of the Empire Strikes Back ending leaving the audience with a shocker ending. This generation just had their “Empire” moment as well. No. Nothing like this is ever stated in the MCU. In the modern comics, the gems are more complicated and draw off of one of the other attributes, like the power gem's effectiveness is based on the user's mastery over mind. Having all of the gems creates an infinite feedback loop.

    • @DragonbIaze052
      @DragonbIaze052 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Jermare Oh yes, it's exceedingly obvious that the soul gem personally chose half of all living things to die. Also, obviously the time gem had to use its powers purely to synchronize the other 5. There's absolutely no explanation simpler or more obvious than that.

    To this day one of the most impossible films to pull off
    This film is an achievement unto itself. Unlike any other marvel movie, this deserves to be praised for bringing around 25+ popular characters and putting them all in a cohesive narrative thats unlike anything that came before it.
    At least 20 movies filled with characters and storyline nuances were successfully kept intact here yet the main character was the villain that had barely had any screentime previously, yet was written in a way that you could empathise with him and tied him into prior events like the new york invasion.
    The movie itself is structured perfectly, from the perspective of Thanos putting him in a heroes journey making him go to different locations to collect the stones from different heroes weve come to know, and pairing different combinations of heroes in an insanely well written way so every character stood out and had an iconic moment to shine.
    All in all the scope of this film is beyond anything that has come before it and even more so than Endgame, but they kept the narrative grounded and paced it perfectly. And the ending of the movie is one of the best endings ever. The best superhero/ comic book film of all time after The Dark Knight.

    • @DayLight_Era

      Hulk has never beaten Thanos in a 1v1, so it makes sense. Hulk is physically stronger, but Thanos is smarter and more skilled.

    • @Caseytify
      @Caseytify ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DayLight_Era Hulk knows how to smash; he relies on pure brute strength. Thanos, on the other hand, knows hand to hand combat. He was hitting Hulk with a combination of boxing & wrestling moves; something Hulk had never encountered before.
      There are two main fan theories why Hulk wouldn't come out. One is that he felt humiliated by Thanos handling him so quickly. He didn't want to get beat again.
      The other theory is that Hulk is sick of being summoned just to fight, then later dismissed.

    The opening Marvel Studios logo for this movie was made to celebrate the first ten years.
    I loved how we got to see Peter react to the Q-Ship. It took me back to the Marvel vs. Capcom arcade games when Spidey would say “spider senses are tingling.”
    Even when the world is in trouble, Tony still lands the best jokes. I also gotta give props to Ned on the bus, Bruce going hype mode for Thor, and Groot with Cap among other funny moments throughout the film.
    The four lackeys that were with Thanos are the Black Order: Ebony Maw, Proxima Midnight, Corvus Glaive, and Cull Obsidian.
    Remember when Nebula said to Gamora that she was the sibling she hated the least? The Black Order are also Gamora and Nebula’s siblings by adoption.
    There were also theories about Red Skull surviving. Looks like they were right on the money.
    The army of aliens that attacked Wakanda are called Outriders.
    The Russo Brothers gave me two birthday presents in a row with Infinity War and Engdame. I remember we were all cheering for Stormbreaker entering the scene followed by Thor regaining his armor. That made for quite an entrance.
    As Groot vanished, “I am Groot” in that moment was him saying “dad…”.
    If you look closely, Wanda welcomed death. With Vision gone, she felt she no longer had a reason to live.
    Going into this, I knew Vision would be a liability. It pains me to say it, but while the Mind Stone is a powerful weapon it’s also a homing beacon for Thanos and his crew.
    We also can’t forget that his body is made out of vibranium. It might be the strongest metal on Earth, but the universe is more than just that or even our own solar system.
    Unless Corvus’ weapon is also made out of the same material, then it must be made out of something stronger that we don’t know about.
    Also, the fact that it took a lot for Tony to make Thanos bleed even one bit just further proves that he’s hard to kill.
    Spider-Man’s vanishing was the most painful to watch. Back in Spider-Man: Homecoming, Tony did say that he’d feel responsible if Peter died and didn’t want that piled on his conscience.
    Just before he vanished, he apologized to his mentor feeling he didn’t do enough to stop Thanos but he gave it his all.
    The Russo Brothers knew what they were doing. Spider-Man has been a fan favorite for years, and the MCU’s incarnation is a high school teen with a lot of potential. That’s why they purposefully made his death slow.

It had humour, epic fight scenes, satisfying character interactions, emotional heartbreaking moments all while juggling multiple storylines in a 2:30:00 long movie without it feeling dragged. The ending was bone chilling. Even the score added so much. 100/10 Movie 🤧

  • @corporealghoul

    The thing to remember about thanos is hes not completely evil. One could argue he isnt evil at all. Just extremely misguided.
    Thanos' people back, when thanos was just a normal scientist among his people, were dying due to lack of resources. Picture earth like 500 years from now and mankind cant sustain itself with the few resources that are left.
    Thanos realized his people could survive if half of them were wiped out. The remaining resources would be enough for the the rest of his people and they would have a chance to live on and maybe overcome.
    He was labeled insane and "mad". His people are already called titans so he became known as the mad titan. His people stopped him from succeeding and eventually they all died due to lack of resources. Thanos having been exiled survived and vowed to never let the fate of his people happen to the rest of the galaxy.
    So he decided he needed the infinity stones to remove half the galaxy. This would allow the remaining half to survive. He wouldnt kill any entire races. Just half of every race to keep things balanced. And it would be completely at random to prevent the act from being malicious in any way.
    Its your basic kill 1 to save a thousand but here its kill millions to allow the other millions to survive because if not billions will die.

    The reason Peter said sorry to Tony before he died was because he knew Tony is going to start blaming himself for Peters death.
    I think the most terrifying part though, is Strange saying there actually was no other way. A feel of hopelessness washes over every time.
    Banner didn't turn into the Hulk because the Hulk is terrified of Thanos after he was beaten up after the opening.

    Infinity War and Endgame were produced as one very long film - they did the filming all together. But because they needed the whole world's CGI capacity and the combined run time was 7 hours, the theatrical release was split into two parts a year apart. The obvious place to split the film was the low point in every hero film, where everything looks lost. The next two films provide the necessary setup for the second part, followed by Endgame.

    You have to wonder how strong Spider-man really is. Pretty much everyone else disappeared as soon as they started dusting. Peter could sense it coming and held on long enough to collapse into Tony's arms, say he doesn't want to go then lie on the ground for a bit. You can see his hands and dust flying off him but he holds on for such a long time.

    Obviously, we all know that Thanos's plan was literally psychotic and completely messed up, but he genuinely believed that he was saving the universe and he was the only one who could do it. He did not sacrifice his daughter so that he could get a stone, he sacrificed her because he thought he was saving countless lives by doing so. His intentions were just as noble as Wanda's were when she sacrificed Vision.

  • @glennwelsh9784
    @glennwelsh9784 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Yes, Thanos' snap randomly wiped out half of all life in the universe. He even said that was his intent earlier in the film when he explained his initial plan to save his own planet from destruction. "Random, dispassionate, fair to rich and poor alike." Titan's overpopulation was threatening the planet's existence, and Thanos predicted that it would lead to an uncontrollable and cataclysmic population decline that would ultimately wipe out all life on Titan.
    So he proposed a plan of population control through sanctioned genocide that would indiscrimately kill half of its inhabitants in order to stem the overuse of its resources. The people of Titan rejected Thanos' genocide plan, and the cataclysmic decline that Thanos had predicted came to pass, with Thanos being the lone survivor. That's why he wanted the Infinity Stones - to enact his plan instantly across the entire universe to "save" it from overpopulation and prevent countless other planets from suffering the same fate that befell Titan.

    • @Caseytify
      @Caseytify ปีที่แล้ว

      Except that's not how real life works. As countries become more affluent, the rate of population growth shrinks. France, for example, reached zero population growth by the start of the 20th century. Germany's population was still growing; there was a perceived "mobilization gap" which gave Germany a demographic advantage; or so the popular thinking went. It made France more eager to start the war before the gap was too large.
      If you look at affluent countries, including Japan, Europe, and North America, they would all have shrinking populations if it weren't for immigration.
      Ditto resources. Europe had been nearly deforested through the use of wood for energy. We didn't run out of trees because we shifted resources. Coal, whale oil, then petroleum.
      Funny thing, petroleum. We've been hearing about "peak oil" since the 1970s, and we have have more provable reserves than ever. Tar sands (for example) were not economically productive back in the 70s. These days, once the price per barrel hits a certain point, tar sands & fracking become economically viable, production increases, and the price goes down.
      It helps to under actual economics & statistics.

      yeah exactly, people often imagine that the millions of outcomes have such insanely low chances of happening but we have to remember, the only input on the futures strange saw was his own input, what he did, what he said to others, his actions and smallest moves
      every time he went back to a new reality in his visions he behaved slightly differently and then waited to see if they won, he found 1 path of behavior he has to follow and if he does then other people will make the same decisions and go on the winning path, from the point of strange's vision everything that happened in the infinity finale and the whole endgame had to had happened that way
