  • If you're looking to improve your mechanics skills, this is the video for you! In this BMW E46 M3 valve adjustment tutorial, we'll show you with the help of a BMW tech how to adjust your valves. I will also walk you through the motions of removing the valve cover and all other parts necessary for a valve adjustment. Take a deep breath, document everything on a white board or a piece of paper, and get your hands dirty. I believe in you and know that you too can service your M3.
Remember, valve adjustments must be done every 30,000 miles on an E46 M3. You should also replace your spark plugs (mine were done 2,000 miles ago) at the same time. There are many parts that should be replaced to ensure that your M3 is in top running condition.
Look for the next video where I walk you through the process of removing belts, tensioners, water pump, thermostat, and all other necessary parts that could be replaced at the 60,000 mile mark.
As always, feel free to comment with any questions or concerns you have. I appreciate each and everyone one of you who are here watching my videos. Below are some other videos that you might find helpful. Also, here is a link to a couple screenshots that I used. I stumbled across this awesome website that will serve as the perfect addition to this video. Perform this DIY at your own risk. When in doubt, ask for help, because your engine is expensive and sensitive to any inaccuracies.

Haha, I’ve even thought that myself. It’s an amazing engine, but….. Out of caution, I stay on top of the maintenance with a bit of type A ness because I fear the worst. I’m not excited to replace rod bearings and tend to the vanos, but I’m certain after that all will be well. Thanks for watching and chiming in. -Tom
