The only reaction channel that’ goes into the depth of the meaning of the songs. A lot of reactions videos only sees the vocal range or the tone of songs. But you two have in all videos sincerely expressed your reaction by diving deep into the lyrics truly reflects your genuine love for music. Keep going... Enjoy your duo time together..You both are a perfect match.
Enoma, you are spot on with your analysis of the lyrics. The song is definitely about a very dear loved one of the band. His name is "Syd Barrett". He was an original member who, rumors say that he took too much acid(LSD) and became schizophrenic. David Gilmore the lead guitarist took over in Syd's absence.
He wrote this for his friend and bandmate who had to quit the band to seek treatment for addiction and mental health issues. You were pretty much spot on.
You two are adorable. I love your zeal for life. You are a wonderful family. Peace. It is so fulfilling to watch, 46 years later, reactions to my favorite tunes. Timeless stuff, huh? Frederic Elvin
Great genuine reactions guys, great to watch you really listening and enjoying some of my lifelong favourite tracks So much better than the other people doing this.
This and Comfortably Numb are my two favorite Pink Floyd songs for sure.I love how it starts out with the song on the radio and then starts playing along on guitar.
Thank you! I hope you both are well! This is a special song. I think it could mean many things. For me, I feel it's the questions you want to ask someone you love, but no longer can.... because life wasn't too kind. It's a beatiful song. Thank you. Take care, lovely people x
That was David Gilmour singing along with his guitar. This song (and album) is dedicated to Syd Barrett. Please also listen (and watch) Pink Floyd Echoes live in Pompeii (1971)
So fun to see genuine reactions to this song.. everyone always checks their headphones at the start of the song! This is another album that really needs to be listened to from beginning to end -- not really your format, I know, but something you all might consider doing on your own. Keep it up!
Namaste, well i didn't expect to cry during this reaction but Savio talking about his father hit me hard, i have recently lost my mum to cancer and i can fully relate as she too was in a similar state near the end. i have heard this song at least a million times (probably no exaggeration lol) and now i'll never be able to hear it the same way. great reaction as always you guys are a breath of fresh air.
As already mentioned, this song(and the whole album too)) is a tribute to Syd Barrett who co-founded the band....The band were incredibly close.... especially, Syd Barrett, Dave Gilmour and Roger Waters who had known each other from their primary school days in the 1950s,long before they became famous as P/F........Once again many of the lyrics are in reference to their dear friend Syd Barratt who they all had a deep affection for and a sadness about his mental health problems, although he was never ever diagnosed as being clinically insane......Here is an excerpt taken from a magazine article..." Although Waters and Gilmour tried to help Barrett with his solo career, it soon became evident that Syd was in no shape to continue as a musician. In 1974 Barrett retired from music for good and returned to two of his other passions, painting and gardening. He would live a reclusive life until his death in 2006. Around the same time Barrett retired from music, Pink Floyd was working on material for Wish You Were Here. The album would become the band’s homage to their friend, especially the song “Shine on You Crazy Diamond.”In 1973 Waters proved that he was a genius in his own right as the creative visionary behind Dark Side of the Moon. But there is no doubt that there’s a little Syd in Dark Side, as one of it’s central themes is madness. Barrett’s spiral into madness affected the whole band as they were all dear friends, but it seemed to really rattle Waters and would color much of the subsequent work he would do with Pink Floyd including his masterpiece, The Wall. In a 2002 interview, Waters said that loss figures heavily into his music. You can feel it on The Wall, but where that loss is most felt, the loss of Syd, is on Wish You Were Here. After Dark Side, Waters and Pink Floyd would become disillusioned with the whole music business, much the same way Syd had, and may have begun to go a little mad themselves. Waters describes in an interview an instance while working on Wish You Were Here when he had an episode where he really thought that he was losing touch with reality (see below). Perhaps this disconnect with reality and disillusionment with the music industry was why Waters decided to follow up Dark Side-one of the most anticipated follow-ups in the history of music-with a tribute to Barrett.Roger now understood what Syd had gone through." Great review and keep them coming.
Sometimes PF fans are to quick to criticize analysis that differs from the 'canon' of the band. I find this sad, because above all else, PF's music elicits emotions in people and those emotions are as unique to each person as their fingerprints. As with all art, the appreciation is all on the client side. Any emotion or feeling you have is valid. Knowing the band's intent can help you understand more emotions, but will they exist simultaneously with your own. Keep posting!
Insightful review. Please find the time to listen to some of Bob Dylan's songs, especially Visions of Johanna. I would love to hear your responses to the bard of the 1960s
You have chosen some of the great masterpieces from Floyd...well done. I know you don't really take requests from the comments, but there are a few more "masterpieces" you really need to experience...Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Welcome To The Machine, and Dogs.
"Shine On You Crazy Diamond" is the song about Syd Barrett. According to Roger Waters, this song is not about Syd but about being present in one's life.
@@flubblert Sure, it could retroactively be applied to almost anything. But the comment I was replying to said that Waters write it FOR Barrett, implying specific intent. I was correcting that Waters himself has directly expressed this is not the case.
I think next Tuesday, maybe “Childhoods End” or “If” by Pink Floyd. I’m still pushing for “Wandering Star” by Portishead for women’s day. They are from the UK, so they could also be international day. ✌️
If you listen to the whole album Wish You Were Here then your complaint of being too short would be answered. Also the full album shows their genius even more.
YOU GUYS HAVE TO DO LED ZEPPELIN'S FOURTH ALBUM AND BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN'S BORN TO RUN ALBUM... ALSO ZEPPELIN SONGS KASHMIR AND THE ROVER AND ACHILLES LAST STAND..

What a brilliant reaction. “Someone so close to the band”… Ridiculously accurate.

Pink Floyd really understood the tragedies of life and they expressed it in their music in such haunting and beautiful ways!!
You are spot on with your analysis!
Kitri, Savio, thank you! Big love to all people :)
Me encanta vuestra respuesta y vuestra reacción a lo que mi son canciones de mi pasado 🎶👍

Yes... simply a masterpiece!
Pink Floyd almost at their very best. So thought provoking.
Perdón pero supongo que no entesdeis español, pero si os interesa que os lo traduzcan, para mi seria mucho 👏
This and Comfortably Numb are my two favorite Pink Floyd songs for sure.I love how it starts out with the song on the radio and then starts playing along on guitar.
Song is about Syd and also yearning for how it was during happier times. Pink Floyd songs in general relate to Madness and loss.
Thank you! I hope you both are well!
This is a special song. I think it could mean many things.

Good take on the song guys.. pink floyd songs are part of my daily life especially 'time'..

Listen to dogs by pink floyd. It’s a masterpiece, oh and echoes live at Pompeii
Funniest thing is, Syd showed up while they were recording. Right in the act.
But he was mentally gone:(
Wish you were here dad...RIP
Loving the reactions... Great Gig in the Sky by Pink Floyd might blow you away!!!
Floyd is just.. it's Floyd, what else can be said.
Love your reactions! More Pink Floyd please!

Correct crabtree. No one can tell me how to feel about a certain pink Floyd song, and how it affects me. We are all different.

A beautiful tribute song🌠 Wonderful reaction Enoma⚡

Great reaction. This song, and this album, is one of my favorites. And I'm very sorry to hear about your father :(
Good analyses, I believe that for the most part you get the meaning of this song.
You're a lovely couple.
Roger Waters wrote this song for his childhood friend and founder of Pink Floyd, Syd Barrett. Who took one too many acid trips and never came back...
"Shine On You Crazy Diamond" is the song about Syd Barrett. According to Roger Waters, this song is not about Syd but about being present in one's life.
@@FoScoJo it also could absolutely apply to Syd regardless of what was on his mind consciously at the time.
@@FoScoJo thanks Mr facts.
@@flubblert Sure, it could retroactively be applied to almost anything. But the comment I was replying to said that Waters write it FOR Barrett, implying specific intent. I was correcting that Waters himself has directly expressed this is not the case.
He did that, but he also had schizophrenia
Namaste !, try Strange kind of woman (live) from "Made in Japan" by Deep Purple, I urge you both listen.....as it's one of the best ever live songs !
