If that isn’t the Kansas City Power & Light plant off the Katy at Montrose, MO, it sure is a close twin! I’ll eventually be constructing one for my MKT Sedalia Sub layout. An excellent layout all around!
Man, that layout was just breathtaking - the huge industries, especially the grain elevators and that one with the real smoke. Also the whole scenery, water, bridges and greenery, everything looked so real. Subscribed and hope for more tours like that.
The Katy layout looks great. I have many fond memories of the Katy and was fortunate enough to have had the privilege of riding the Katy Flyer, and the Texas Special.
Really nice layout, structures, scenery, weathering, all very good. I really like the Rainbow arch bridge .We had three of those bridges in my hometown. I would walk across one on the way to the local hobby shop. Well done layout and video was well done also. Thanks
Beautiful layout ! Thanks for the “ride along” on your visit. I really like how you kill the audio during a lot of background chatter 👍🏼👍🏼. I wish more guys would do that 😊
The Katy was a great railroad. I always enjoyed visiting the Katy depot in our small town and the operator allowed me to listen in on the dispatcher's phone which was always a thrill. Too bad the days of the depots and train orders are gone. We lost the Katy, too. This layout brings back some great Katy memories.
The Burlington-Rock Island Joint Texas Division ran their trains on the MKT mainline between Dallas and Waxahachie. There were many trains each way, each day. This is a great layout. Well done.
I’m so glad to FINALLY see someone who is modeling the Barriger Era Katy. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Whitman green Katy but it doesn’t beat that simple Barriger red with classic logo. Just wish the model manufacturers would do more Barriger era locomotives. Excellent layout and I hope to see some more of it!
I have visited this layout several times. If you are doing layout tours for the Austin Train Show, this is absolutely worth the drive. Most items are spot on the prototype, and the scenery overall is spectacular. Cars are all weathered perfectly. This is a must-see.

Engineers build the best model railroads....
Thanks.... It takes all kinds of backgrounds....Pelle Soeborg is a graphic designer and Eric Brooman was a high school art teacher.
