    This is badass,I wish we had a place to sell my cards..but yes,in my business college classes.My professor would say,people run a their own company to make money not lose it. So expect to not always profit when you go to card stores. They are in the business of making money,what's the point of having a business when your losing money. Great to see how selling and buying cards work🔥#nicecontent

    Great video, Jay! Missed you by a week it looks like, but have loved this series. From the midwest and made my first trip to Burbank over the weekend. They were very fair on the card I sold them. Had a price in mind and I didn't even counter because I knew it was a fair offer. Of course used store credit and walked away with some great pieces. My buying strategy changed on day 2 when I saw all the fresh inventory they had already added that they didn't have the night before. Truly an amazing operation there and you covered it very well!

      I think it’s worth it when trading up. I personally go to Burbank a lot and I’m constantly bringing in bulk stuff to trade into nicer cards. I’ll take the hit percentage wise in order to move a bunch of stuff I don’t want for a nice card with anywhere from 300-600

    • @sportscastercanada
      @sportscastercanada 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There’s another factor to consider. The customer selling at 60-70% of comps likely bought for less and is happy with a profit. As the market becomes more stagnant, people will probably be more inclined to sell themselves closer to comps because they would be losing at 60-70%. There’s a lot of people sitting on cards they bought for a fraction of today’s market precovid.

    Yes and no. They publish buy lists where certain things are not being bought (because they have too much in stock or not worth it). But they also change those buy prices constantly so if you are doing the work on a large lot make sure it is locked in price wise. This is based on a good friend's experience

    As a life-long collector it still blows my mind seeing brand new cards sell for 3 figures or more. Frustrates me when cards come along that I really want like the 2012 Topps Archives Bryce Harper RC #241 that I've wanted since it first came out. I think I have the flagship base card of his #661 that I got back in the day. Geez I usually only say "back in the day" when talking about things pre 1980s. I'm getting older than my birthyear Topps set that I am only a little more than 50% complete.

    I'm really curious as to why so many people sell their cards for 70% value. In some cases, sellers have got to be making some money still, but you know there's many who aren't. Lots of low-balling going on. Burbank seems like a very down to earth and honest vibe, but that's not always the case at shops.
