@15:00 to the end of this video, Epictetus lived in A completely different world 🌎 in time. Didn't have all thee digital devices that consume, devour and control the minds. Epictetus also Didn't hayte hiz workplace like A HUGE majority today does. Epictetus also wasn't able to upload A video on A bunch of social media sites like the content creator of this channel and make A living without having to go into A workplace with over A hundred employees Hee haytes.
❗️👁 hayte M👁 Job, & the peeps, (I'm 50) buht wee can only get the job that is available - & thats only if wee R chosen. This isn't Fantasy Island - jobs rarely exist that R amazing. Over here in Dem Cali - it's retail, service, warehouse or get uh degree in what? Then the degree 70% of thee time does 💩. A HUGE percentage of our working population hayte their workplaces ❗️
It's only because U have A niche talent that U R able to have A dream job, most peeps don't have A niche.
👁 mention alot above about workplaces because they shape our thoughts and dictate alot of our ability to be happy.
Epictetus and the content creator of this channel philosophy @15:00 is IMPOSSIBLE for the majority of this planets population to obtain - simply because of having to go into A workplace wee hayte and have coworkers constantly playing toxic games, lashing out, deliberately causing conflicts and the list is endless. Oh and if you're thinking, just get another job - I'm 50 - every workplace has been mentally and physically exhausting and constant drama.
Epictetus philosophy may have had possibilities to become A reality in his time, but for the majority of us today (Largely because of our workplace) - it's just A 💰 making video for Einzelganger❗️

This video is such a powerful reminder that sometimes, the best way to heal is by letting go. Stoicism really teaches us how to find peace even in pain. Thank you for sharing this wisdom!

i know this is kinda off-topic, but i kept seeing comments about Magnetic Aura by Takeshi Mizuki in videos like this, and i finally decided to read it. honestly, it’s one of those books where you don’t realize how much it’s helping until you start noticing people treating you differently. it’s like the book shows you how to unlock a version of yourself you didn’t even know was there. subtle, but so effective.

Incredible wisdom from Epictetus. This philosophy is indeed difficult to apply, especially in the turmoil or emotional upheaval of the moment, but it IS possible. Practice is required, and plenty of it. Since I discovered Stoicism 5 years ago, I have definitely improved in this way, and letting go is much easier for me now than it once was, but still, on my weaker, more undisciplined days, I forget and err.
Thank you for this wonderful video, Einzelganger. A deep sense of peace always settles upon me while I am watching your videos. They are, for me, a mode of meditation and relaxation.

I have often said to myself "let the world be as it is". Stoic philosophers lived in a world of harsher material outcomes than we do. They also had more space and peace with which to engage their thoughts. In short they had less distractions whereas for example watching this video I had to dismiss three commercials. This in no way invalidates their work in fact it makes a stronger case for why we should listen to them. They weren't so invested in outcomes and really had no idea that their work would stand the test of time. It just was not important. I very much move toward this way of living life. Not easy but what else is there.

i know this isn’t what the video’s about, but i had to mention how i kept seeing Magnetic Aura by Takeshi Mizuki in comments everywhere. curiosity got the better of me, and i finally read it. it’s wild how much it changes your mindset and the way you come across to others. it’s not about pretending to be confident-it’s about genuinely building that energy so it shows naturally. definitely worth all the buzz it’s been getting.

Did you know 'Epictetus' wasn’t technically his name? It literally means ‘acquired’ or ‘owned’-a nod to his life as a slave. Yet, he taught that no one can truly own your mind or your freedom if you choose how to respond to life’s challenges. A name tied to captivity, but a philosophy rooted in liberation.

How do I just stop caring? I can pretend to not care, I'm actually quite good at that, but like, how do I actually do it?

    • @MisterK9739
      @MisterK9739 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

Letting go and not caring are two different things.
Whenever something happens, that emotionally disturbs you, try to realize why, and them try to let it go.
Like almost everything it takes practice/repetition. But the mindset is important, of realizing when and why sth disturbs you and then actively letting go

It depends on what it is. If it's something you can not controle, try focussing on that. What you cannot controle you cannot change, however hard it can be. You don't need to stop caring, you can care but not let it get to you. Know your worth, you are irreplacable. Try to focus on what is the most important to you in your life, let all the rest go, because if it's not important it doesn't matter. Realy try to see the difference between what you can change and what you can't. A realy valuable lesson I've learned is that you can only change yourself, you are the one that makes the choice to let something in or let it go. You can never change people, let them be, accept them for who they are, realise you cannot change them, love them for who they are, if there is something you do not agree with accept it and let them figure it out on their own. Know you cannot change them. Let them in their worth. Respect their point of vieuw, you may have a different one, maybe you've learnt something from them, maybe you don't, but you can not change them. Realise you cannot change the world, you cannot change anything exept yourself. It's a hard way to go, it is rough advise, but I find it to be the only way that works for me. Sometimes the toughest medicine works like a miracle, I've learned a lot from Alfred Adler (in the book "the courage to be disliked"), it has changed my life, for me it was realy tough medicine, but it worked like a miracle. Hope this helps for anyone, good luck and a lot of love! Bless you

I really appreciate the Stoic points of view. In a perfect world we would all be better off if we lived by these principles. Alas, this world is nowhere near perfect so, I will muddle along and do my best to live with the least amount of aversion and desire as I can. Also, remembering as the Scriptures say, that I came from dust and will return to dust, therefore this will not be an easy task for me. Thanks!

I made a similar mistake when young. I had a call center job where I was verbally abused all day. I thought it was some kind of spiritual test and stayed for years, finally losing my mental and physical health. If you are miserable or feel like you are going to a battle everyday......it might not be a sign to work on yourself, but leave it behind and move on.

This philosophy is a great counter to rigid thinking because it essentially asks the practitioner to remind oneself that things aren’t static, but are dynamic and fluid. This allows someone to prepare and engage with reality with more dynamic responses, which increases one’s odds of ‘success’, whatever that may be.
However, personally, I don’t think it applies all the way down to the bottom of reality, in that we need to pretend to ourselves that value judgements, instincts, reactions, and our own will and actions are to be “let go” and reasoned away.
Ironically and hypocritically, the stoic supposition that life should be about minimizing suffering is a value judgment and its prescription of “letting go” is an attempt at controlling reality by denying the just as real parts of ourselves that may be negatively reacting.
Yes, we should be prepared to accept the inevitable encounter with the sufferings of life, but we don’t have to attain some robotic, anti-human persona where we fully purge ourselves of negative feelings or value judgements. Sometimes that suffering is useful, motivating, an important warning, inevitable, a way of gaining clarity, or just the bitter sweet reminder of how much positive love and joy we once had and, hopefully, will have again.

Amor fati or acceptance of fate is crucial, but so is the acceptance of the fact that suffering is an inevitable part of life. Sure, there are ways to avoid unnecessary suffering by changing our views and perceptions; the line between what's under our control and what isn't is often blurry as the world is not so black and white anymore. Acceptance of suffering and still striving towards a better life is more courageous in its own regard.
