What an amazing recipe I love this flashback recipe I’m so happy you cat with a classic shortening instead of butter and great idea of using the brown sugar in cookies it keeps the cookies moist instead of using white sugar and love the addition of pecans and dates Love the start of the holiday series can’t wait to see the rest
You had us at fruitcake cookies. We're one of those crazy people who actually love fruitcake. Hahahaha There's something so comforting in those red candied cherries. It reminds me of my grandma. I would add all of the colors! Haha We're so making these!!
I knew there were some of you out there!!! LOL!! If you love fruitcake, you will LOVE these! It warms my heart that it bring back memories of your Grandma! That is what this channel is all about! I am making them again for my holiday baking and will be using the green cherries just to mix it up a little! Please let me know when you make them!!! 💖🍸
I'm a huge, HUGE, fruitcake fan, and I adore cookies so this is really interesting to me. 😃 Plus I love all the information you give out too, I really love your channel 😃 come on over, I've got a freezer 😃 how could anyone afford them at that price😵
Anytime you can recapture a childhood memory from one of my videos, my day is absolutely made! These are such an oldie but goodie! I'm so honored you're going through holiday last year! I've got some great ones coming up for this year! 🍸❤️
Oh how lovely! I ran over here from pineapple rice when you said it was your second in the Winter Holiday Series. It looks like a yummy and ironically modern take on a classic vintage fruitcake. I'll have to try these sometime--but maybe I'll halve the recipe, lol!
You can totally halve the recipe, this makes a lot!! Im taking the rest of the year off from filming for the holidays and making so many cookies! Including this one! Modern in 1945...love it!! Next week I will give you traditional latkes from a time old family recipe. Sneak peek for you! 💖🍸
Great recipe! It's so interesting to think about rationing and how we take things for granted nowadays. I did not know that salt activates baking soda! #TheMoreYouKnow I was somewhat surprised to see buttermilk in this recipe, but I love it as an ingredient in cakes (as you know, haha). I think it's a secret ingredient in a lot of things...as is ginger 😂 Those cookies turned out great! I can see why making cookies is therapeutic for you. My music of choice is either post-hardcore or "cumbia pop" lol Wow prices have changed. Another great recipe!
I learn new things everyday and always say 'the more you know'. I am making these again for my holiday cookie baking, the ones I made for the episode went to my Firemen! I love post-hardcore! You have excellent taste and I can see how it would be great to cook by.
@@yesterkitchen I'm sure that the firemen were very appreciative! What is your favorite post-hardcore band(s). My favorite is probably We Came As Romans!
Great video, Jill! The cookies look so good. 😍👍 And check out that miracle blouse! It looks like gray with black but in the close-ups it's purple.💜 Or is it only on my smartphone? 🤔
Hi Anja! LOL! It is a purple and black tie dye. 😉 Miracle solved!! And thank you! THese are really good cookies! I bring everything I make to my local Fire Department and they loved them!!! 💖🍸
I’m going to try these! Nice that it doesn’t have to citrus candied fruit for my taste. I don’t know where in a store to buy dates. Maybe where the raisins are? Thank you and God bless💕
@@christinawhite9256 you are going to love them! And you can usually find dates in the produce section. But that my vary by region. That's where mine are. 😊
The transcript has so many errors that it is hard to understand the last ingredient, the after the red cherries. It looks good and would like the recipe.

Thanks so much Jeff! I decided to go a little out of the ordinary for this series, except for the last one which will be a classic!!! 💖🍸

Hi Lance! Welcome! Rus is just awesome! If I didn't follow the original recipe, I would so be soaking the fruit in bourbon! 🍸💖

THanks Kory!! 💖🍸

Hi Debra! TH-cam isn't always great with the transcript, but the recipe for these delicious cookies is in the description below.
