It's so nice to be able to move there. However, be advised watch out for police in Baja . They are harassing tourists for bribes/extortion of cash at traffic violation stops, especially in Ensenada. Don;t speed or run stop signs. The worst police department is in Ensenada. The city council and woman mayor allow them to demand bribes for fake tickets. No Courtesy is ever offered. Porto's station is the most corrupted. Never ever tell anyone how much money you have. Too many bird lame drivers do this and get ripped off. Carry a fake wallet with ID copy and only about $40 bucks. Hide the rest. Video record all traffic stops and advise cops you will post this in you tube. Call 911 if innocent and ask for supervisor ASAP, you are scared for your life because your freedom to travel is being blocked for a bribe. Notify the American Consul ASAP, so they can followup with officials to stop this practice in Baja. Have fun. Senior stop opening up your wallets in front of cashiers with so much stuff and money in it. They will signal a friend to rob you. Got it?

I just retired and at the young age of 69 decided, no more regets... I'm moving to Mexico! I've never even had a Passport! Since I can't decide between LaPaz and Oaxaca, I will stay awhile in each and see what God's plan is. There's no rush. I've watched countless hours of YT videos on moving to MX, travelling in MX, etc., and just found yours. You 3 are by far my favorite YT'ers, favorite Baja sojourners! Thank you, thank you for sharing the beauty that awaits! Can't wait to watch more... to travel the same path. Enjoy!!

Congrats on retirement! Both Oaxaca and La Paz are wonderful cities! I'm sitting in Oaxaca as I type and we've fallen in love with it as well. I hope you find the right place that feels like home to you! ❤

Wow, I loved how you captured the essence of Baja California Sur on this road trip. From the peaceful towns to those hidden beaches. I recently did a similar trip and documented my experience. There’s no place like Baja for an adventure like this!

Baja and the Sea of Cortez is beautiful. That campsite at the beginning looked like it was in Mulege. we have visited Loreto twice and the last time was last October. We spent a week at Villa del Palmar Islands of Loreto about 30 minutes south of town. The waters were calm with no waves and at 82 degrees which is really warm. Thanks!

Appreciated your info on the TIP. Since we aren't required to have them--even as legal residents--here in the peninsula (long-time special exemption), I don't have need of them...UNTIL I want to take a vehicle from the peninsula to the mainland by ferry. So I found this information very useful and timely.

Hey! Yes! The plan is to do RORO from Panama to Colombia. Overland Embassy is who we're going to go through to ship our rig since they have so much experience and connections shipping vehicles this route.

Hi there! Yes, our TIP did say for 10 years. I've heard it's different for different years, makes, and models of vehicles though. Maybe this blogpost I wrote about driving to Mexico will help clarify: www.chrisandsara.com/post/crossing-the-land-border-from-the-usa-into-mexico
