@@davescockpit Yah not watching the dewpoint spread you really have to watch out for night time. The usual lights can disappear, or you have to file IFR.
@@nightwaves3203 which would be a problem since a) I'm an NPPL (M), which means b) I can't get an IR (or even an IR(R), at least until they unify all the licenses). Oh, and AP is not rated for IR either 🙂
Definitely not a "waste of time" Dave. You got to fly, made a sound decision enroute, good call, and landed safely. A lot of plusses there 😎.

Weather reporting a temp and dewpoint spread around 4 or lower will tell you likely not clear weather down low.
Thanks, all the forecasts showed a cloudbase > 2k so thought it was worth a shot, clearly not!
