This is how I feel the Catfight scene should be. In the US, London, and Australia versions it's always so comical and it doesn't fit. Elphaba and Glinda have so much history together. From hating each other to being best friends and having to separate and Elphaba being on the run, then Fiyero leaving Glinda for Elphaba and now Nessa dying... They should be angry at each other and it should be heartbreaking to watch. It really takes away the gravity of the situation when the audience is just laughing the whole time. Especially considering Fiyero is about to be tortured and lose his human body forever.
I always find this scene just so corny! But that does not detract from the performances of the two ladies. Just look at Willemijn! Every tine I see her I think that I really am watching the real Elphaba Thropp. The woman is just so utterly brilliant! So much talent! So, so very, very good at what she does. I have two favourite Elphabas. One is Idina and the other is this utterly brilliant lady. I just don't have words that can praise her enough.
Lol! What the heck is that sound Willemijn produces after the witch cackle of the first catfight (02:33)? Sounds like a whistle tone or a dolphin whistle or something.
I once saw a bootleg of the 2013 Dutch production where Fiyero comes in with a broom instead of a gun :D I would've loved to see what was going on backstage just before it happened.
Thank you so much for sharing! Willemijn is a phenomenal Elphaba, she is so passionate. All of the other actors are brilliant too, better than most of the English speaking casts I've seen.

I like the contrast from Stelley. Glinda, in Maguire's novel and in pretty much that same scene, is just like (very calmly) "You need to get your shit together, we won't talk like this, I had more right to those shoes than you did, bitch".

Irgendwoher kenne ich Elphabas Verhalten doch... Wenn ich mich ärger geht das genau so ab... Nur sind die, die mich kennen spätestens mit Sicherheitsabstand in Deckung, wenn ich mich so ähnlich verhalte wie Elphaba bei "Dann glaubst du also, dass Wirbelstürme einfach so entstehen?" (Ich weiss, heisst ein bisschen anders), weil bei mir die Explosion/Keilerei etwas schneller kommt ;)
Diese erste Scene von 2009 find ich die beste unter allen.willemijn ist und war die beste elfhie , Platz 2 die 2.te Version in dutch..wenn man den deutschen Text kennt versteht man auch dutch.

Some words are pronounced in English. Like in Thank Goodness and when Williemijn says Dorothy to substitute "little farm girl," in either German or Dutch.

In the Australian version it's mostly played for laughs with a little seriousness, the German version is mainly serious.
Just watched her in a English production and her accent is barely noticeable, her ability to adapt to different languages is amazing.
