PERFORMANCE and TOP SPEED of a Stryker LX 380 paired with a Mercury 9.9hp

Today we are at Sakinaw Lake @ Sunshine Coast in beautiful British Columbia testing out the performance on a Stryker LX 380 paired with a Mercury 9.9hp MH (manual start). We have 2 people plus a large dog (red golden retriever) Cali weighing in at 80lbs, so basically 3 people, plus a full tank of gas. With an inflatable boat, you want evenly distribute the weight for maximum performance. We had 2 adults on either side of the boat and our dog Cali was in the bow. We had no problems getting up on step as well we reached top speeds of 26km/hr.

I have a question. Did you drill the transom when installing this engine? Did you just stick it on "butterflies" as standard. Thank you in advance for your answer.

This used the standard butterfly bolts.

It would be ok, depending how many passengers you have.

How "open" did you have the throttle in order to plane with the 9.9hp?

I always give it full throttle with any motor to get it up on plane, then back it off. It ran really well at half throttle while up on plane.

Does the new hull design help the 380 get on step with a 9.9? I plan on running a new Merc 9.9 from last year and my old V-hull. I don’t want to have to register the boat and some of my favourite lakes have a 10hp restriction.

Yes it does! I find the LX 380 with new hull performs better than a LX 360. The 360 and smaller boats have the traditional bow.

It would work, however the optimal passenger load would be 1-2 for the hp
