  • Quick look at Thales PRC 148 MBITR broadband 30 - 512MHz antenna 23386 - 1600500 1 - it have impedance matching transformer inside base that allow TX / RX in very large frequency span from (end of HF), Tactical VHF, Airband, VHF, UHF. Very interesting. I will make more test to try it out.

You put a question mark next to the PRC 152. I want to let you know that they are definitely used on the Harris Falcon III PRC-152.

Thanks, writing Thales make me believe it was dedicated for MBITR

In the military I had such an antenna, it is of very good quality - flexible and receives the signal better than the original 27 MHz antenna when you do not hold the radio with your hand. The original antenna requires more weight. unfortunately I do not know how to get such an antenna. It has a very good advantage because a radio that is standing alone, e.g. in a window, etc., receives signals well, and with the original antenna it receives signals about 3 times worse. They should produce such antennas for 27 - 28 Mhz portable devices because they are much more practical.

Thanks for comment, I'm not sure if this antenna will be good for TX on 27MHz (basically everything on low band)

Hello..I enjoyed your video....I do have several French DY 27 B dyno power inverters for the Prc 8-9-10..Its extremely rare...any info, feedback would be appreciated..Thx.

    inside? 1 transformer, 1 capacitor and 2 x 200 ohms 5w resistors .73

Thanks for feedback - so basically anywhere outside real resonant we are going to be cooking that base - that might be issue with TRI replica that can output > 10W - for sure it was not designed to handle that. 73

Where did you get the one? Thanks

Hey, auction military surplus - but don't buy them from China (as they are made in USA) - no chance they will have genuine, cheaper.

Similar to Sergei's question, but for this antenna specifically, will the radio he specified (136-174 MHz & 400-480 MHz - Output Power 0.1-5W) work with the antenna in the video? Thank you!

      Yes it will work.

Hi! Can (Thales/Harris 30-90 MHz) military antennas be used on PRC replicas? I have PRC 148 from TCA (136-174 MHz & 400-480 MHz - Output Power 0.1-5W). Thanks!

In general no, in Your question You stated frequency range where each antenna will work and replica is way outside. Those long blade are for low band. I did not have 30-90 to measure impedance at input - if they are flat 50ohm then You can use them safe (just won't be effective) if they are not flat 50 ohm then i would not use them as they can (will at some point) blow radio output stage amplifier. Without having in hand can't tell for sure - just making educated guess.
