    That bone chilling right hand. Maybe he wasn’t the flashiest and he certainly never claimed to be the greatest but Joe Louis could beat any boxer in a fight because he possessed the great equalizer. He could lay out a one hitter quitter at anytime. His power is really mind blowing, he weighed just shy of 200 most of his career.

    • @bossplayermfs5972
      @bossplayermfs5972 4 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      No doubt about it, Joe Louis was a God in the ring he was blessed with that great punching power and had the greatest boxing trainer EVER in one Jack Blackburn who taught Louis everything he knows and it payed off Louis is the only champion in boxing history to have 25 title defenses 22 of them were won by KO's and held the championship for 12 years! To me that's greatness at it's finest and to answer your question yes, Louis would have beaten any hw fighter in his prime.

    • @viperfanaccount688
      @viperfanaccount688 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      He faced much lesser competition as boxers weren’t as skilled (especially defensively) at the time. So likely those newer guys would beat Louis. It doesnt matter though what matters is how dominant he was at the time and how no one could figure him out other than Schmeling for 25 title defences. Highlight reels of any boxer look flashy especially Louis’s but you need to consider how technique has developed and competition of the era. The late 40’s is when you start to see real skill in the HW division with more blacks becoming contenders due to Louis breaking the colour line

    • @bossplayermfs5972
      @bossplayermfs5972 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    • @grantchilders6029
      @grantchilders6029 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I think he had a right hand that could end any fight in a second. He wasn’t flashy with footwork and he actually approaches his opponent like he’s about to swing swords rather than fists. I’m not so sure modern boxers would just blow past him, Joe would want to slowly push them into a corner and get close to land his shots. I think his power is right on par or maybe greater than Tyson or Foreman. I think a lot of people sell Joe Louis short though.

    • @rokmin8550
      @rokmin8550 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@grantchilders6029 I agree 100%, his punches weren't wild like some punchers (Max Baer comes to mind) so they didn't LOOK like they were as powerful, they were short and crisp but if you look at the person getting hit, you could tell they landed with stunning force. Look at Arturo Godoy's face and you'll see what I mean!
