Hahaha thanks. We went two nights in a row but I didn’t want to bore people with more food footage… or maybe I was too busy stuffing my face the second night
It was a great adventure ! Nice video recap and so much in there to understand better what really makes Champagne ! Loooking forward to seeing the upcoming videos ! Cheers 🍾😀
yes! a long video! excellent as always… interesting, informative and entertaining! as a tip though, seeing how long it take for you to output the long videos, maybe change the whole approach, at a first glance, looks like you have an old school standards for these videos, all nicely edited with music break ins and all that. maybe find a raw, quick and more modern way to chop up these videos up? you are way too nice and deliberate with these :)
Thanks Vlad for always watching! It does take a long time to edit and that comes from going through all the clips and putting together a story that will keep people engaged. Otherwise people click off and youtube kills the video... I am chopping up some of the clips for TH-cam Shorts as you will see over the next few days.
Another interesting video Matthew 👍 visited Taittinger myself but did not get to taste what you did (obviously?). I really like Les folies and Comtes is on the wishlist. Of the big brands Pol Roger is more My reference but Bollinger is close 😉 Being passionate about Wine I strugglere a bit with the price of champagne and the Wine sensation it brings or rather the lack of it. However, last Easter I visited Hure Freres which really impressed me as it posses that Wine sensation I’m looking for. Going for the small grovers is where you make the good buys like Jean Laurent (+/-16€ @cellar door) and it cost more than double @home. Cheers
Thanks a lot as I loved this video and wish it got more love. The price of Champagne isn’t easy to swallow but for the amount of work that goes in, I do think they can be fair. Some of the cooperatives like Palmer in Champagne make more affordable options
I'm hoping I see you touring the island of Madeira like this someday. This format would make it easier to absorb. I've been searching up info about Madeira fortified wine lately.
I hope to make it there too one day! I've been to nearly all of Europe's great wine regions BUTTTTT Madeira has eluded me thus far... I do love Madeira as well
Great video Matthew. Nice job. I would love to see where Meunier was proven not to be related to Pinot Noir. I was under the impression that the name change was to given Meunier its own identity in Champagne.
Thanks! I’ve heard arguments on both sides, al the producers were adamant about calling it Meunier without the Pinot. Regardless, it can make fabulous wines.
@@drmatthewhorkey I have seen an article by #Jamie Goode arguing for it and Tom Stevenson is 100% certain, it's a clone of Pinot Noir? I'd be interested to know what evidence these producers were quoting, who were saying it was not a clone, Dr?
@@drmatthewhorkey Sorry if that came off as rude, I’m just very curious about this pronunciation. The correct French pronunciation is like “pino-nwah” but he seems to say “pino-n’wow” at 12:27. Never heard someone say it that way!
You’re like the Rick Steve’s of wine 🍷 👌👍
Hahahahahah that is quite the compliment!
That dinner at Gueuleton looked next level

It was a blast, here's to more adventures in the future! South Africa?? South America??? hahahah
@@drmatthewhorkey And so much more to discover in France !
Oui oui
@@drmatthewhorkey Would be great to see you guys on Santorini?
@@philipquick7423 I hope so too!
Love this video
Grazie Stefano!
Great episode! And on a topic I love! 😀🥂
Hahahah I bet. You a Bollinger guy too?
I love the richer styles: Bollinger, PR SWC, Taittinger Prelude… but no real problem w drinking great BdB either 😀
That was really interesting, thanks.
🙏🙏🙏

Nice video, only one small thing: the volume during the interviews was a bit low compared to your narration.
Thanks! Yes it’s hard to control audio in a non-controlled studio setting

4:25 what glasses are these?? My best guess is the Zalto white wine glass, but they look slightly different shape
Glass is by a company called Lehmann
@@drmatthewhorkey Thank you!

That is a compliment to Carl hahahaha
Hello sour
?
Why does Carl pronounce Pinot Noir like “Pinot N’wow”? Very odd lmao
He does speak French…
