  • In this video, I’m going to show you how to fix a 2005-2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee car door handle that is broken. This one happens to be the driver side, rear door, but this process will work for any of the doors.
This is one of those projects that I have just been putting off for no good reason.
Let’s just say that the wife is happy that I finally fixed her jeep door handle.
If you want to know how to fix this yourself, watch this video… the parts are ordered are below:
    Door Handle (Gray): amzn.to/2GT235e
Door Handle (Beige /w Chrome): amzn.to/2YULsEr
Door Handle (Beige /w Tan): amzn.to/31qui31

I just picked up an 08 Overland hemi with only 110k miles, runs great, everything works including the reverse camera/sun roof and interior/exterior are basically flawless. EXCEPT that ALL 4 door handles are broken. I did not know this was common with these and was just wondering how they broke all 4 handles haha. Seems simple enough, guessing a Saturday afternoon to fix all of them.

Im throughly liking your jam!. And your funny - you would think Jeep would have gotten something right after all their years of quality - but sold to the. Lowest bidder as always -but super classy and well done! Thanks for your commentary and an issue that should never be.

@@hankm16 LOL. Well it's my life goal to rip out door handles... kidding. Each one happened because the door swung back at the person getting out (me for the front doors, and others for the rear doors) and hit people on the hip, right at the door handle. They all shattered inward. I replaced them with handles that weren't so brittle.

I really wish our country would improve quality control. Honda screws the door handles into the door card. Why is Jeep plastic-welding the handles into the door card... which for most of the population, requires replacing the ENTIRE door card??? That's HYPER expensive. Jeep needs to take some notes from the Japanese. Make all parts replaceable as much as possible!!

Thanks for making this video! Super easy to follow and I was able to replace 3/4 door handles really easily after watching (the 4th one is in perfect shape for some reason. go figure)
For other people referencing: I was initially confused about my interior color because I kept seeing grey and beige replacements and mine isn't as cold as grey but it definitely isn't as yellow as beige. If you're in a similar position, you're probably looking for the khaki color. You should have a sticker on the interior of the car door panel (once you remove it) that tells you the interior color if there's any confusion.

Awesome video. Do you know what size those screws are? 1/4 inch maybe?

    • @IAmAFixer

Sorry, I wish I knew, I’m not sure. Couldn’t have be 1/4”, but very course thread

@@IAmAFixer Thanks for responding. I'll try looking at 3/8 or 1/2 sheet metal screws.

I Am A Fixer Thanks for making exactly the right video for me.
I need to get the screws right though. Could they be some kind of wood screws? I feel like sheet metal screws would be too fine to properly thread the way you recommend. The washer heads on those screws make them even better but hard to find.
I bought kits for BOTH sides of the Jeep. My wife is basically driving a police car at this point. I just want to be sure I have the right screws before I start popping off the door panels.
Any more guidance you (or anyone else) can provide would really be helpful.
      Thanks again for the video!

Brett Boley they are definitely a course thread. The kits I ordered came with the screws. Did your kits not have the screws included? You may want to reach out to the seller if that is the case.

I Am A Fixer Thanks for the reply. I checked the kits last night. Purchased from two different sources and neither came with screws. Oh well. Just part of the challenge. I will post a link to whatever I end up using.
