    i like the "Don't force it..." line and here's another. "Any fool with a screwdriver could fix that. I've got it half looked after but I don' have a screwdriver". I really enjoy your videos and empathize with your arthtitic hands.

    For gluing veneer, I use a trick I learned a few years ago. You spread TiteBond on each piece (one side at a time only), leave it to dry for and hour, lay the pieces on top of each other, with the glue sides facing each other. Then you use a clothes iron, and iron them. The glue grabs instantly, soon as they are heated, and I have never had them come apart. It’s fast, easy, requires no jigs or anything. I just wanted to pass on the tip.

    I measure it as 173 Hz, or F3 -16c.
    I just love watching craftsmen at work. Most of my life has been built around eradicating skill by using computers, but now I am retired I watch this channel to see how things might have been. It must be fulfilling to create something that will be around for years to come.

    Jerry you are a wonderful crafts man. The tone on that body rings beautifully from just a little tap. I love the use of hand tools. I like the fact that you bevelled the support struts, I don’t know how many people would bother.

    My choice would be to join the two main pieces and have the seam in the middle then add wings of quarter-sawn wood on the edges. This would look like a two-piece back. Or did you really want a three-piece back? To my eye, a three-piece back looks like an economy build when the wood was not wide enough.

  • @johnmeeks9618
    @johnmeeks9618 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The dark shape in the center of the two outer boards should stay in the center of the back,,,don't loose that feature.

    Hi Jerry, Richard 🇬🇧 again. Was asleep but suddenly thought, couldn't you put your binding in your guitar body form and then into your vaculme bag, then youbwouldnhavenit moulded to the shape of your guitar ? I know there probably is a reason.
    Regards to you both
    Richard 🇬🇧

    • @RosaStringWorks
      @RosaStringWorks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Potentially that could work but you would really have to have an internal mold to keep from crushing the sides because the air pressure is enormous

    • @D989501L
      @D989501L 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RosaStringWorks oh hadn't thought of that, well at least with one mould side, it wouldn't take a lot to lay another one inside to make an Internal mould but i suppose you don't make enough binding to warrant it.
      Wish you and all a good weekend.
      Regards Richard

    • @amphetamineblue4172
      @amphetamineblue4172 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The other problem is unless you get it exactly lined up then it is going to have gaps and you would have to remove it all and redo it. Getting binding lined up properly is easier to do a small section at a time
