The only time I liked her makeup was when she wore a cranberry color on her lids and smoked it out. I love her reviews and suggestions, but I just don't wear my makeup like she does. A gold shimmer and stark liner just isn't my taste.

I’ve started using my blush, bronzer, and highlighter on my eyelids instead of eyeshadow. For every day makeup, I just bring my liquid blush a little bit onto my eyelids when applying it, put some bronzer in the crease, and highlight the center of the lid. It makes the whole look feel very cohesive and put together, and looks a little more natural and easy than full eyeshadow.

A few weeks ago, Taylor had mentioned using silver eyeliner to brighten the lower waterline. I had already been doing that with silver or nude colored liner,BUT I had an LA girl rose gold colored eyeliner and it matches the Amber rush L’Oréal eyeshadow that you influenced me to buy and is now my go to eye look! The rose gold eyeliner on the lower waterline is slightly brightening but not in your face like silver, white or even nude liner. It is SO pretty that I do it daily!

My #1 tip is to apply
Loose powder with a damp beauty sponge. I think it helps the powder to melt into my skin and not look too powdery.

My #1 tip for when my foundation is too light: under painting my bronzer! Go in heavy with liquid or cream bronzer first, then go over it with your foundation. It balances out and you look nice and bronzed.

I do the sandwiching technique of setting spray. I have oily skin so this helps my makeup stay on longer and melt together. Also, using the right primer with the right foundation, with the right setting and finishing powder. Some primers don't work well with certain primers and the same goes with powders as well as setting sprays too. Thanks for the video!

Gorgeous Jess! I’ve also been going more minimal lately which is shocking for me 😂my newish tip is I’ve been dragging my powder eyeshadow or liner up from my LOWER lash line to make a baby wing, instead of my upper lash line as then my hooded lids don’t get in the way! Xx

I actually LOVE no makeup on the eyes! It gives like a romantic old world vibe 🥰 The only thing is using heavy face makeup can just look off with no eye makeup, so just make sure to keep the base really light and natural looking 💛 and try to avoid getting powder on the lashes!

#1 thing that made everything easier--- put on EYE makeup FIRST, then face and lips. I did foundation and face stuff first for so long, then tried this and never went back. Fallout is not an issue, and even if you mess up it's so easy to fix or patch up. I'm actually excited to get ready now because it's just easier

I’ve randomly got into the clean eye, soft pink blush/shadow look. Honestly it’s a collision of aging and learning less is more with wrinkles etc, paying far more attention to skincare to work on an even skin tone and skin texture versus makeup, and appreciating a simplified makeup routine. I feel like it’s also because when us millennials were teens we were wearing terrible products until TH-cam came along and then started buying ALLLLLL the products to now, learning what the good products are and how to individually use them to our benefit. It’s been a journey! 😂

I have 3 young kids and my makeup routine has drastically changed. I rarely wear foundation anymore and I think it ages me too. I usually use Elf halo glow liquid filter and some concealer where needed and then some light powder. I love that look so much more most days. I still do bronzer, blush, mascara and gloss, but that’s it. It is so quick and natural looking for my busy mom look.

Pretty much stopped using foundation…only on special occasions and even then sometimes I regret it. Instead I use concealer and a light powder only in the areas I need coverage. As I get older, anything I can do to not put more on my face helps my make up look so much better. I’ve been loving the NYX bare with me concealer. ❤

My tip is using a powder foundation to dust over my whole face when I’m done with everything else. It helps tone down any blush or highlight I maybe gone over board with. I also spray a hydrating mist after each layer of powder so I don’t look cakey. It melts everything together and then I use a finishing spray at the end. So I will do setting powder over any cream products, then spray, do color products, spray again, then do the powder foundation, and spray one last time. I know this seems like a lot but it goes by fast and helps me with my oily skin and the products I use. ❤

Great video. As an almost 50 year-old, I have texture and fine lines, yet still very oily skin. I always use a make up sponge. When I powder my face, I use the dampened sponge, which still gives me the coverage and oil control without the powdery finish. I have also discovered that I don’t use anything in the crease or on the outer edges of my eyes, and just use a satin shadow all over the lid for a one shadow look.

My new fav discovery/tip is for people with rosacea or a lot of redness. The Erborian CC Red Correct Cream. It is a green tinted lightweight CC cream that has encapsulated skin tone pigment in it. It goes on green but as you rub it in it turns to a light-medium skin colour (unfortunately it may not work for darker or very light skin tones). I realized that I love my skins natural texture, I just like to balance out the redness and skin tone from my rosacea. It’s easy to apply very quickly with fingers, it wears really well even in the southern Spain heat, and it has extra SPF in it. The coverage is light but the tint covers the redness and looks sooooo natural. I haven’t really been using traditional foundation since I discovered this.

I switched to powder foundation because I felt like I couldnt nail down a liquid that looked good on my skin. I just turned 40 and using a powder foundation, setting spray, then going in with bronzer and the rest of my face looks so much more like skin on me. My 70 yr old daddy even said my SKIN looked good (and he fueled my love of makeup growing up). As I get older, less has become more. Although I do get glam every once and a while. BTW: love you, your channel and your fam! Such a joy to have an internet bestie! 😉💕

Makeup techniques that I do now that I didn't used to and it's game changing: only a tiny bit of mascara on the bottom lashes and not a huge coat, blush on the nose, only a glowy highlight and not glittery powder, bringing a darker crease shade further in and not using a shimmery inner corner (shimmery inner corner always clings weirdly on my slightly hooded eyes).

Hello Jessica you always look stunning.
I’m currently pregnant with baby#4 and I have three small children at home. I been doing my makeup similar to you. I been adding bronzer powder to my eyes 👀 and I feel like I look put together. I’m being honest I don’t wear mascara everyday. I also like to wear my blush more up and it looks great. I’ll be 30 this September and I been doing more of this natural beautiful makeup look. When I want to add a more bolder look, I’ll add a lipstick that I been loving from Pat McGrath. It’s unbelievable how those lipsticks are so beautiful and they stay on all day.
The Laguna bronzer is also my favorite of all time. I wear shade 2 and my the blush that I can’t see me without is the Hourglass ambient light. Those blushes stay on me all day.
Thank you for your video. I would love to see your hair routine. I been wearing my hair up and I need to try 😂to have it down more often.
    Best regards

I'm right there with you on putting mascara on my upper lashes only. One thing I do is I use a really bright cream blush (I'm pretty fair and I'm currently using Elf original Putty Blush in Caribbean) and then I powder all over (I'm oily) with a translucent loose powder. It not only sets the blush, but it tones it down a smidge and makes it to where I don't have to use a powder blush on top - plus the original putty blushes last forever on my skin. I know dark/bright blushes can be intimidating if you have fair skin, but I'm telling you, it can be stunningly beautiful.

I've been watching your videos for many years, since you got engaged to Tyler and even before that, when you filmed at your parents' home on your bedroom floor. I just want to appreciate how you handle sponsored videos or sponsorships. First, BRAVA --- go get that money and never feel any kind of negative way about that. Haters gonna hate. Money is IMPORTANT because it buys you options and choices and experiences and even things like medical treatment, education, a dignified retirement, etc. Secondly, you always indicate a sponsorship pretty quickly into the video. I deeply appreciate that. It peeves me when TH-camrs try to hide the sponsorship, call it a "collaboration" and they don't say "sponsored" etc. I have no issue at all with your sponsorships, Jess, because I trust you and I KNOW that if you are sponsored, you have tried the products and like it or them. Anyway, great job on that! XO!

On the topic of bronzer shade, I always used to use a cool toned bronzer because that’s what TH-camrs talked about using for fair skin back in the 2010s. It always looked so dirty on me and made my hate bronzer. Then I figured out I have warm/yellow toned fair skin and a warmer toned bronzer would look better. A warm toned bronzer changed everything for me and now I love bronzer!

I will definitly try the powder foundation on the eyelid trick. That sounds very interesting and makes sense. I have been only using mascara on my top lashes for years now, because i also think using it on the bottom lashes looks kinda weird on me. Also been applicanting my blush very high on the sides of my face because i am 43 and using it on the apples of the cheeks doesnt work on me. It pulls the whole face down and putting it up very high pulls the face upwards.

I had tried so many foundations which laid on top of my skin or looked "polka dotted" and FINALLY (Taylor Wynn) used a BB cream that was amazing and took away all of that issue. It is called Purito and it is cheap and works.

The super heavy makeup glam with smokey eye and tons of contouring is a more western style which I used to do more when I was a teenager and in my 20s, now in my 30s I prefer the more minimal natural makeup look! Thanks for sharing your tips!!

I’ve done the lip liner/lip gloss combination for years. Would love to see your makeup brush collection or which are your favorites and why? I love watching your videos. ❤

First off I wanna say that this pink is definitely your colour 😍 everytime you wear it, you always seem to glow even more. Second, I wanted to share a tip with you that is a GAME CHANGER!! It’s for when you line your lips and you don’t want the liner to budge (esp when you wear a gloss on top and it frays), this trick prevents it. So, you line your lips as usual and then you take a powder puff and dip the tip of it into some translucent powder. Then you just press that over top of your lip liner and it’s going to look a lil crazy cause your lips will look like you just ate a powdered doughnut. Then you take a fluffy brush and dust away the excess powder sitting on top your lips. BAM your lip liner will not move all day!

I have been using two different moisturizers for my t-zone and my cheeks. I also have been putting on my foundation/cc cream/tinted moisturizer with my hands and then blending out with a beauty blender and I have noticed SO much more even coverage!

Is anyone else loving the "From the Cutting Board" vibes from the beginning of the video? I love the makeup content but also really enjoy the lifestyle/cooking aspects of this channel.

Jess, I love hearing you mention your favorite store, Meijer. I only get to shop there when visiting our daughter in Ohio. Went there today and got two dresses. The Penelope Rose brand dresses, super cute by the way, are 50% off! Run, don’t walk! They would look great on you!
Love this video, I’ve watched you since day 1 and most of what I know about makeup was learned from you. Thank you for sharing your life, knowledge of makeup and family with us. Love you ❤

A few of my favorite tricks I was sharing with my sister last weekend so they’re fresh on the mind. Using aquaphor as a highlighter and dotting it on the tops of my cheekbones and right under my eyebrow, I will even use it in my inner corner or over my eyelid to give a shiny look. Plus, it’s moisturizing so it’s two birds in one!

Applying foundation with my fingers then going over with a sponge or brush to finish blending. The warmth of the fingers helps the foundation sink into the skin!

I stopped wearing lower lash mascara and lower liner fifteen years ago. I instantly got rid of my problem of smearing and transfer and I think I look more youthful.

Jessie, recommendation for you. An even better, less expensive dupe for the Makeup By Mario liner. The L.A. Girl Ultimate Intense Stay Auto Eyeliner! They have two browns that are beautiful, but I’ve been using the navy blue shade in my tightline and it brightens my eyes like crazy! It doesn’t budge, at all! The Sephora one is great, too, but still smudges slightly on me. Try it! It’s like $5.00!!!

I use to wear liquid eyeliner everyday, but lately haven’t wanted to. I’m definitely going to try the pencil and smudge it.

Definitely going to try out the eyeliner trick, but I recently switched to a lighter brown liner (Makeup By Mario Soft Brown) & man, it makes my medium brown eyes pop.
I think I'm also gonna try doing under eye concealer BEFORE foundation as I think it'll cut down on the amount of foundation I use.
Loved this video! Gets the creative juices flowing! 🥰

This was a fun video to watch... thank you Jessica for sharing it with us :) I don't wear mascara on my bottom lashes anymore I just line my eyes with a brown eye pencil then smudge . It gives my eyes a softer look - I like it much better :) I use Mineral makeup, have been for years 🥰 Take care everyone 🌹

I love tacos too. There is a restaurant in Louisville, the Recbar that makes a Philly taco, it is to die for.
Wow I just was able to see how long I’ve been following you and I started in April 2013. I knew I’d been with you a long time but time goes so fast. You still are one of my all time favorites, and one of the very few who’s opinion I trust. Here’s to the next 10 years!
