When you found his swamp bedding area, then backed out, and put the puzzle pieces together, was a master class in scouting. Your in his wheel house, and never have to disturb his sleep. Never depositing your scent in there. Your videos are priceless.

I certainly appreciate your comment.Being that our bucks can be so spread out in such large areas,I have a tendency of respecting their private domain, no matter what time of year.Absolutely no reason for me to go any further than I have to.
      Thanks again...

Awesome video!! The big woods I think scares a lot of people. It’s not a place for a person who’s worried about getting lost. You had some great tips. Glad I found your channel when I did. I could sit and talk deer and deer hunting with you all day

Great comment! Thank you.All I care about is to have people take a walk with me and see what we can find.I don't get into technicalities.Keep it simple, and just try to enjoy the game of locating deer.

Hey Bud, thnx for the informative videos. I've hunted the big woods of U.P. MI. 35 years. I'm like you I like to see whats over the next ridge. WOLVES other preditors and winters have totally desimated our Deer population here. So I'll be very curious your video of you going into low Deer high preditor area in the future. I'm so destraght about DNR here and how they have neglected the over population of the Wolves not even so much for but other hunters and our youth for the future, sad! Can tell we are like minded about our precious God given forests! Hunting secondary!! Thank you, God bless!

Thank you Larry for the wonderfull comment. There definitely is a lot more that nature offers us that many people do not realize.
I do agree with you in regards to any animal being regulated. It definitely needs to be addressed in many areas.

I agree, that was a bed around 14:00. As you were walking up to it, I said to myself, there's one of his beds.
Because it's matted but very large and round, I would say he probably uses it on multiple winds and just shifts the direction he's watching. When they're kidney shaped, they're using it on one specific wind.
Personally, I poke around the bedding way more than what you were saying (post season). That has to do with the difference in our amount of land and pressure though. The largest pieces I hunt are like 6000 acres with most properties less than 3000 and some as small as a hundred or so acres. Hunter access is usually abundant, so our deer are heavily pressured and won't stray very far from their beds during daylight. To be successful I need to know exactly where the beds are to push in tight to that safety bubble.
Majority of them seem to put up with an occasional intrusion. Some even put up with dang near harassment. Others vanish the first time you bother their area.
Not sure if it works like this for you too, but when I kill a mature buck from a bedding area, another mature buck will take over that area (usually pretty quickly). It's prime real estate.
Very much enjoy your scouting videos, keep it up!

Thank you for the comment.Exvellent thoughts.
The habits are somewhat different in regards to the amount of human pressure.Which is none.Their habits in many areas are dictated by the amount of predator traffic.

Plan on hunting the north woods this fall for the first time. Ive done a ton of hiking up there but ran into a Bigfoot with my grandpa when I was younger and honestly I’ve refused to go in the woods for 15 years but I’m ready to give it a go again this year! Gonna have a 45 on my hip just in case, watched my grandpas dog get killed 15 years ago.

Subscribed Dale, i like what your bringing. I would like too see some of your thoughts on gillie suit set ups and your still hunting traditional, right , thats where my hearts been for over 50 years of hunting

      Well thanks for the comment.
It just seems like you change your ideas on the whole hunting aspects as you get older. For me ,I just enjoy taking my ghillie and going wherever I want, and playing the wind. And if a tasty buck comes by,I'm taking him.
I've made a couple ghillies like many other guys, you can pick up some netting and jute, and some dye,and just create what you want.

What ratio of water, ammonia and doe urine do you use? Great videos!

    • @Buckman-101
      @Buckman-101  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

Thank you for your comment Thor.
I just usually throw in a cup of ammonia and an eighth a cup of doe urine, and fill a milk jug half full with water.Typically I really don't start using it until may,but as long as I'm out their I put it on now in case they start coming back for the summer.Feel free to add whatever you wish from that point on in the mixture.

Most of these areas are oaks.Hardly any white oak like down south.I really don't run into beechnut.
