I think we may have the definite edition of Super Mario Bros. 1 on our hands! I've always wanted a version of SMBDX with all the content, but without that awful screen crunch. I think we'll finally be getting that soon!
I’ve always liked the color palette of having a red and blue Mario like from Donkey Kong in these games, so I wouldn’t hate it if there was an option to switch between the two palletes
I love that Luigi not only has his fixed palette from Deluxe while his old palette becomes his fire palette, but his sprites were altered to be more unique! That's an amazing touch!
SMBDX was the first version of the game I owned as a kid and I loved the new changes it added. I considered it my favorite version tied with the All Stars version (which I hope this project will marry the two in some ways). Needless to say, I appreciate this fan revival and I’m looking forward to playing it.
Will have to watch for this! SMBDX was one of my favorite games growing up, spent hours grinding for high scores in Challenge Mode. Would definitely love to see the scoring changes from that ported over if challenges are intended to be a separate mode in this as well (10k points in place of 1UPs from combos, limited points from the Koopa stair trick).
