Myles Kennedy is the man! You wanna hear Myles playing actual vintage guitars and Americana with occasional country affectations- his album ‘Year of the Tiger’ is exquisite!
Yeah, it doesn't sound anything like a Tele to me, but it does sound good. I couldn't see in the video whether it has only the three saddles a la old Tele, but if so, maybe that's why it doesn't have the best intonation. It does have a bolt on neck and maple board, plus the Fender scale length, so maybe that's why it sort of sounds like a Strat with humbuckers rather than a Tele.
It's just "BOSSenjoyer." I'm sure he'll show up here on cue. 😂❤ He called me "low T" and "cornpop" when I called him toxic in 3rd person because TH-cam wouldn't let me respond to him directly. 😂 These people are unreal.
John made a video questioning the value of pedals made by a company called JHS. The main guy Josh was seemingly agitated at John asking "are we being ripped off?" So Josh responded with a very detailed and honest video response about their pedal manufacturing and clarified why their pedals cost what they cost. Apparently some of Josh's fans are still upset. Bottom line is both John and Josh are fantastic TH-camrs and they settled the issue like polite human beings. @@ReagorNation
I don’t think that is going to happen. There is talk of Keith Urban working with Paul to develop the Tele version of the Silver Sky a few months ago and maybe that will come to fruition - and that might make it to SE? Having Urban tied to it would not be my preference but I guess no one asked me anyway! I also recommend the Vela S2. Used, under 1k all the time. Smart Tele style bridge (same one used here), trebly aggressive bridge pickup (kinda filtertronny), clean single coil neck pickup, lots of twang especially if you play near the bridge- does this all sound familiar? I think the vela does a Tele impression much better than the Kennedy or NF53.
Any sig model from the Core line, is gonna be an outstanding guitar. Paul said they lost their asses on them models. Mostly because the pickups ended up costing way more than expected to develop. Thats one of the main reasons I jumped at an NF3 in Gunmetal Grey with a rosewood fretboard, the day they released them. The trickle down affect of that research and development, finds its way into the SE line. Where it can be offered at a more affordable price. I'm really impressed with the level of QC and specs on them. They cut no corners that I can find? Other than straplocks and a treble bleed, its ready to go. I swtched the neck and middle pickups around on mine, so I can get the T tones exactly the same as that NF53. For a fraction of the cost. Peace!
Fun video! As others have mentioned, the NF53 is more of a Tele type... though it's closer to being its own thing. Also, the NF53 has the most responsive/interactive electronic set I've played on a guitar in my 40 years of playing ;)
I actually own a PRS NF53 and that has become my favorite guitar. It can really do everything I need it to do. I did not like this Myles Kennedy version tho…they are not the same guitar
I like a Tele But also like a les Paul. 2 months ago I bought the nf53. Since then my other guitars are collecting dust. It is strange to have a dream guitar in your mind and PRS is providing it. My search is done, perfect hybrid.
I think it's a PRS take on a tele style, and I love that. Wish it was closer to 2k instead of closer to 3k, but it is what it is. Maybe I'll get the SE version if that happens. ❤
There are 15 or 20 companies that make a "T" style shape guitar but only Fender makes and truly sounds like Leo Fender's "Telecaster". I love PRS's take on a T style...mostly I love PRS's necks and their overall craftsmanship. The almost $3k guitar Miles Kennedy T style has humbuckers...traditional tele have single coils so..... Also, sorry you got a relatively heavy one cause Sweetwater here in the U.S. is showing them as light as 7.2lbs.
It's an HH guitar. If you like the touch and feel of PRS guitars and you like the lines and heft of a Tele, you might like this I suppose. Even the switching doesn't make it sound like a traditional Tele to me though.
I have the PRS MK T-type - it's not a Tele, but it can do some of that Tele thing, and is a great rock guitar. Funnily enough, I have two PRS guitars - the PRS MK and an original American Silver Sky (that came with a hardcase), and I prefer the MK over the SS., although I love both. Then again, I prefers T-types to S-types, so that is probably to be expected
It’s similar to a Tele sound, but not exactly a Tele sound. Myles Kennedy said when he and Paul worked on it, they started with his favorite Tele, but then he asked for some changes to suit his needs, such as more powerful pickups. So it’s a little different.
It won't sound "like a Tele" in the traditional sense due to the pickup configuration. Everyone's idea of a traditional Tele has 2 single coils, done. I like mine with a hot single in the bridge and a high output modern humbucker in the neck. Tradition be damned. They're all Teles to me.
And some people don’t like how they look or feel. I’ve had 3 different ones. I don’t think they sound particularly distinct either. Some of it’s taste, not just prejudice. If you like them, that’s great, enjoy.
These sound like humbuckers, I don't think it has the spank of the telecaster. It sounds good don't get me wrong but it's not in the same realm as a telecaster. If you need that telecaster sound you need tele-type pickups.
I'm about to do a four way and switch mod on one of my teles. So one of the positions will put the pickups in series like a humbucker. Will let you know if any guitar makes the tele sound weak then after that.
I mean, the Tele itself is a pretty ugly guitar by most accounts. We just have a lot of nostalgia attached to it. It was ridiculed quite a lot when it first came out.
@@mikeomatic9905For most of my life I thought the telecaster was an unattractive guitar. That was until I bought on last year. My second favorite guitar on the planet.
I love me a good PRS, played one of these at sweet water and it wasnt my jam. Looked amazong though and well built, but I'm much more in the CU/CE24 camp. Love the SS as well. Thanks for doing an honest video on it! Would still love to see you demo an American CE24 and/ or the SENF-3.
To be fair, I remember Myles saying in the video that it was about harking back to the old (he was a tele guy) but with modern stuff. Very much the PRS way I suppose. When an SE version arrives, I’ll be all over this. Looks and sounds great. Personally I’m someone who’s after a tele shape, but not the clang-y sound that comes with it.
I’m a fan of both PRS and teles, generally speaking, and I own several of both. This guitar is really ugly. On the positive, it sounds fine, but I’m not sure who it’s for? MK fans? Assuming there are some? I had to Google who he is!
Got one when they were first released. It's not a Tele and I'm reminded of that when I pick one up. But it's a great guitar. The more I play it the more it becomes it's own thing. And I like that.
I really like the contrast of the neck and the body, reminds me of the really white rg550 neck. The birds look amazing and I like the owl. I think it sounds great too. The fact it doesnt sound like a tele doesn't make me like it any more or less.
I find the pickups a bit too dark sounding … not sure if it’s because I’m used to the sound of your SS or Blue Kline that you usually use, and that’s what my ear is looking to hear …? But definitely no twang out of this. Maybe it’s meant to Feel like a tele in the hands ?
I really like the design but they used 3 piece body and a scarf joint at this price point is a bit disappointing tbh .Maybe they spent a lot in R&D to compensate that. Nonetheless they sound great
PRS is running out of ideas so they copy the Fender Stratocaster and Telecaster. What's next? I will never buy a PRS. Their guitars aren't that great and the finishes are hideous.
There is still a lot of confusion created by PRS with this "NF" pickup naming - and they can't really blame anybody else for it. NF is not a specific pickup, it is a generic design that is individually voiced for every guitar model. Even more confusing, technically they are all dual-coil pickups, but some are voiced like single-coils (e.g. NF53, NF3 SE, Studio), some are voiced like humbuckers (e.g. Myles Kennedy, new Custom 24 models), some are somewhere in between (e.g. Paul's Guitar, neck of the S2 Vela)... and even within one "group" they differ wildly in output and voicing. Long story short... "NF" tells you absolutely nothing - it is PRS' successful attempt to beat Ibanez and Gretsch in shitty, irritating product naming. The NF53 pickups are voiced like single-coils, and at least the bridge pickup is modeled after an original '53 pickup and does sound like a Tele... the neck is closer to a strat, not identical but roughly comparable to e.g. the Fender Isbell signature model. The Myles Kennedy is a dual-humbucker guitar with some splitting-trickery in positions 2 and 4. In positions 1, 3, and 5 it does roughly compare to a dual-humbucker Deluxe Tele - I compared it to my Friedman T-Style with two humbuckers and the differences were minor - the MK did have the much nicer neck, but I really missed the second volume knob with 2 humbuckers. In the end I went for the NF53 to complement my main guitar, a Fiore, and play it far more than I thought I would.
the PRS Fiore is my main guitar for work. One of the best super strats out there for a reasonable price (compared to the Suhr stuff - which I don’t care for)
I kind of love PRS guitars and would love to buy one, but the main thing that turns me off is, weirdly enough, Paul himself. He's so weirdly arrogant and convinced about the whole tonewood thing. Either he's superstitious or he's a snake oil salesman. There really is no in-between with a guy like him, because he clearly knows how to build guitars.
This is not the PRS Tele, this is very much more Miles Kennedy than Telecaster.. For the Tele inspired PRS, check out the NF-53!
This is a PRS sound, not a tele. And it looks like a PRS. Of course it's a good PRS quality guitar, but it's not a tele.
Well if he’d compare it to a tele with humbuckers or HS-combination I’m sure it would have sounded more similar
This guitar is what a tele should be now…
I hate tele sound,.. I love my Myles :-)

Yeh same here. I’ll hold out hope that it becomes an SE 🤞
Not a bad strategy. I bought a DGT SE, and it's fantastic, I can't imagine spending any more money would be worth it...

Would love to see you do a review of the NF53. It has different pickups than the Myles Kennedy model.
I have the NF53.. neck profile and body dimensions are also slightly different. And the NF53 is slightly more Tele sounding.
I have an NF53 as well. I really like it. I haven’t played the Myles Kennedy model yet.
