    Been following for a while, wonderful to see you're getting back into Slipknot content, but without a doubt your other content is still amazing too, love that you expand into other things such as novel/book reviews and other cool shit, you're also a very technical guitar player and a good teacher, thanks for all you do!

    Started playing in January, been trying this on my Ibanez Gio since day 1! Got a Fender Jim Root Telecaster last week and having a lot more success, I can play the whole song on about 65% speed! Thanks so much man

    Hey I'm learning guitar on acoustic and I was wondering what skill level it takes to play vermillion pt2 or how difficult it is

    • @BlackacreDoe
      @BlackacreDoe  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I definitely would learn all the fundamentals before trying to tackle that one. It's not difficult, but there's some chord shapes and timing that could be challenging if you haven't been playing for a while.

    Right before the last chorus the stabs aren’t octaves they are fifth and six string power chords on the 1 and then to the 6th fret, if you listen to the isolated guitars. Just wanted to point that out but besides that this lesson is great as usual.

    • @BlackacreDoe
      @BlackacreDoe  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Like at 9:00? I learned it from Jim's DVD, he can be seen playing octaves here: th-cam.com/video/XXchfWRya1A/w-d-xo.html. I probably should've noted that in my lesson I was mostly teaching what he plays on the DVD, but I didn't even know there were isolated tracks from Iowa floating around out there. Edit: I just listened to the isolated tracks, and you're definitely right about the album version, thanks for bringing that to my attention.

    Slipknot are a strange anomaly for me, I've been playing guitar absolutely years 15+ big thrash fan can play through tons of more technical music, Solo's and also write my own music so I like to think I'm quite well rounded, but there's something about Slipknot riffs even the easier ones I just find hard to grasp, I think it's because there feel is so different to how I write myself and it really bugs me lol

    • @BlackacreDoe
      @BlackacreDoe  2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Yep, a lot of people unfairly write them off as "easy" to play, yet I bet those same people wouldn't be able to play most of their stuff accurately lol.

    Hello, I just found your channel tonight and absolutely love it! Your killer! How long have you been playing? Slipknot is my absolute favorite band of all the time. When my cousin introduced me to metal, slipknot was the first band. I've been wanting to get into learning guitar for a very long time and have been considering pulling the plug finally. With that being said, any tips for a beginner and what guitars would you recommend for a beginner? I don't know the first thing about guitars, choosing guitars, or where to start. Would just appreciate all the feedback as much as possible. Thanks again for slaying it and being an inspiration to me.

    • @BlackacreDoe
      @BlackacreDoe  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the kind words, I've been playing for a long time. I'd recommend studying with a teacher who has the same music taste as you and as far as choosing a guitar, I'd need to know two things before I give you a recommendation. 1. What is your budget? and 2. Do you like more aggressive, metal style guitars or do you like more traditional looking guitars?

    • @christianbradley9910
      @christianbradley9910 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BlackacreDoe I suppose I'm not too sure on what kind of guitar. Would you be willing to provide recommendations for both? I think I definitely like the heavier sound for sure. As far as my budget goes, I thought about buying used through like eBay or something for my first guitar. I'm thinking maybe between 200-400 for the guitar and amp. Is 200-400 reasonable for an entry guitar? I could probably go a bit higher though.
      As far as finding a teacher, how much does that cost generally and are there any apps or programs that I can use to teach me or apps to find an instructor?

    • @BlackacreDoe
      @BlackacreDoe  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@christianbradley9910 For metal, I'd recommend something like an LTD M10 or Ibanez RG421. For a more traditional style, there's tons of cool options that Squier and Epiphone make that would be in your budget used. Guitar lessons depend on a bunch of different factors, but I'd say expect to spend about $30 a half hour or $60 an hour. I would just google "private guitar lessons near me" and check out any Guitar Centers or local music stores around you.
