A very great night reaction 🌃 🌝🌕🏔🌌🌹! Last Night was released as the lead single from Az Yet's 1996 album: Az Yet. It was also included on the 1996 film: The Nutty Professor, movie soundtrack. It was written by Keith Andes and Babyface. It was produced by Babyface and Mervyn Warren. The song reached #1 on the R&B chart and #9 on the Hot 100. The music video was directed by Eric Zimmerman. There are two versions of the song's accompanying music video, one with clips from the film The Nutty Professor and the other without. A lot of artists did that dance move in the 1990s including most famously Puff Daddy. Get your rest 🛌🏾 to be your best!
    Az Yet Info 📰:
Az Yet, from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was originally formed in 1989 as a duo with Shawn Rivera and Dion Allen, the two were later joined by Kenny Terry, whom they met singing in the lobby of the Wyndham Hotel in Philadelphia, Ali Hyman, Claude Thomas, Damon Core & Dyshon Benson.
A demo tape by the group found its way into the hands of Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds through his mother-in-law, Jacqueline McQuam, who held later various talent night showcases in order to highlight their work. Impressed by their sound, Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds asked them to perform at a concert with After 7 and El Debarge and subsequently added lead singer Marc Nelson to the group. Marc Nelson has wrote for artists like Toni Braxton, Brandy, Tamia, Tyrese and Jon B.
Az Yet released their self-titled debut album in 1996 on LaFace Records. The album featured a who's who of musical producer heavyweights including David Foster, Babyface, Sheila E and Brian McKnight. The group's first single: "Last Night", reached #1 on the R&B charts and #9 on the Hot 100, achieving Platinum status. The group's second single: "Hard To Say I'm Sorry", a cover of the the band Chicago's 1982 hit song, was nominated for a Grammy award (Best Performance by a Duo or Group) reached #8 on the Hot 100 and achieved Platinum status. Driven by these two singles, the album reached RIAA Platinum status in 2002.
Fueled by two top ten hits, the group's popularity led them to several television appearances in their early years. Live performances included: It's Showtime At The Apollo, The Keenen Ivory Wayans Show, All That and two appearances on Soul Train- the first in 1996 with Marc Nelson as the lead singer and the second in 1997 with Tony Grant.
Marc Nelson was removed from the group due to "personal differences" and pursued a solo career. Marc Nelson was replaced by Tony Grant as the group's lead singer who was subsequently replaced by Ledon Bishop. Marc Nelson, who had already released a solo album in 1991 called: I Want You, on Capitol Records would release two more solo albums post Az Yet. He released the album: Chocolate Mood, in 1999 on Columbia Records and the album: Marc My Words, in 2007 on Lyric Masters 911 Records.
During Tony Grant's brief tenure with Az Yet, the most significant recording he made with the group was an appearance on the popular remake of the song: "You're The Inspiration", with the band Chicago's Peter Cetera in 1997. The group continued to tour for several more years, experiencing exceptional success in Europe, Australia and Japan.
Az Yet left LaFace Records for Dreamworks Records and later appeared on movie soundtracks for the films: "Hav Plenty" (1998 Sony Music), and "Kingdom Come" (2001 GospoCentric Records), as well as the soundtrack for the short-lived television drama: "Fame L.A." (1998 Polygram Records).
After the group's breakup in 2002 and parting from Dreamworks Records, Darryl Anthony composed a new group with LeDon Bishop, Kris Gilder and Dante Harper and released the extended play album: "That B U", in 2004. The EP experienced moderate success. This formation of Az Yet disbanded in late 2007.
In 2006 Marc Nelson founded the R&B group: Blayse, which consisted of Terrell Phillips (formerly of Blackstreet), Marc Nelson and Tony Grant (formerly of Az Yet) and Gary "Lil G" Jenkins (formerly of Silk). The group name is an acronym developed by combining the names of the members' former group affiliations: BL from Blackstreet, AY from Az Yet, S from Silk, E added to denote the phrase "Everything You Could Want". The group never released a formal album but did produce two well received singles: "Back For My Heart" and "Forever".
In November 2007, the four remaining original members: Marc Nelson, Kenny Terry, Shawn Rivera and Dion Allen, reunited and began recording their sophomore album, set for release in September 2008. The group released their first single: "Share Life", on April 25, 2008.
Az Yet toured as featured actors/performers in 2013 with the Broadway musical: My Brother Marvin (The Secret Life of Marvin Gaye), starring Keith Washington, Tony Grant and actress Lynn Whitfield. Later in 2013, the group recorded the song: "Magical Moment", with Malaysian Idol winner Jaclyn Victor as a theme song for the animated feature film, Ribbit (KRU Studios).
In 2016, the group released the album: She's Magic.
Marc Nelson was nominated for an Emmy Award, for penning the theme song to the 2016 animated Christmas television film: Snowy Day. The title song was performed by Boyz II Men.
Marc Nelson released the single: "Wishing You The Worst", on July 24, 2017. The song was released independently via his production company Focused Artist Entertainment. He also released the single: Sack Full Of Dreams, in 2020.
Az Yet still performs their music live on stage in 2023.

I loved this song and played it repeatedly. It still sounds good! I don't recall Az Yet having another popular song. If anybody else knows of other songs, will you please share the titles? Thanks. 😊
