This was a surprise - Astorga and Ponferrada Castles and Cathedrals

Astorga and Ponferrada, a stop over that amazed us on the road to Santiago de Compostela. Antoni Gaudí designed , palaces , cathedrals of great standing, some very nice local cake , Templar Castles from the C13th. It was completely unexpected.

Puts our monuments, town centres and shops to shame! ... and in the centres all we get are the odd hanging basket and not wisteria!!
Great statues, and till standing! ..... where are all the people?

Could have done without Elvis appearing half way through though!!!

Ha Roger we had to watch again to find Elvis 😂. The towns and cities are less populated than in the UK for sure , although I suspect things will change in the height of the tourist season.
