Great series! Could you possibly talk about Corn's Nats 08 Oppression Monarchs for a future deck profile? Or Jeff Jones' Dark Skill Drain deck? It'd be great to see some points on how odd decks managed to be successful in formats dominated by 1-2 archetypes.
In regard to Jeff's Dad Skill Drain deck from 2009, he could easily go for lv8 synchros, Stardust Dragon + Drain and Colossal Fighter + Drain destroyed Gladiator Beasts and Lightsworn respectively, the 2 most popular decks of that format.
The activation of Raiza's effect can only trigger if the summon is successful, so Raiza does require declaring a target before you Rug. However, if you had something like Solemn instead, then you'd have to activate it upon the attempt of summoning Raiza, in which case no target is specified.
Sean has beat me a bunch of times. It is way closer to 50/50. Some times I upload the more exciting games. There was also a time he destroyed me with DAD Return but my recording came out poorly :(
I only played zombies for two events this season because of exactly this. Yes zombies can pop off but it's always either that or brick with them, and with my luck I brick a lot in bricky decks. PC was my deck this format.
I really appreciate the content, as someone who enjoys playing older formats I find this very insightful 👍
Love to hear the kind words!

That is so true! I was locked into thinking counter as if it was Warning.
Awesome matchup

Keep up the great work! You should do a match with that 2011 plant synchro deck you profiled.
I actually just remote dueled with my plant deck. You should check out Pak's Twitch.
Wow, Sean finally won one

Raiza+PWWB on a dead card is just crushing.
Other deck ideas.
09 Synchro Cat
08 Dad Return
06 Chaos Return
12 Dino Rabbit
13 Dragon rulers/ Spellbook
04 Chaos Yata
I already profiled Dino-Rabbit.
All of those other decks are on the way though.
