Thanks for posting this. I'm driving my late parents 1994 Intrepid and it still feels special to this day. I took it to sophisticated mechanics here in SF for repairs and they were amazed at the quality of the ride/performance.... one said it reminded him of classic Mercedes! The 3.5 ES pulls far stronger than the stated 224 ft-lbs... I love the ride, better than any of the Cadillacs or Lincolns we had.
Mom & Dad bought a new, fully loaded Intrepid ES in 1997. They put over 250,000 miles on it before they finally let her go. If you take care of your car, it will last.
Greetings. I have one of the same engine 3.3 year 96. Seeing this video gave me a very good idea. Restoring small parts of my car. Repaint it and apply that glossy finish. My car has helped many of my family to take them from one city to another, they are pleased by interior spaciousness and the smoothness of the journey. On each trip Iam always the one who drives it. That's why my relatives appreciate me. I live in Mexico, Reynosa, Tamaulipas.
I took my dad's 1995 Intrepid on my driver's test in 2002. Now, just a few days ago, a 1st generation Intrepid sold for $350 at a local auto auction I attended.
I had a 1996 Chrysler LHS with the 3.5 liter. It was a great road car and had lots of interior room. It also did well on fuel economy. But so many things started to go wrong around 75,000 miles. Air conditioning, radio, tie rods, sensors, sub frame bushings, head gasket. And the headlights were lousy. I took care of it and wanted to love it. But it developed too many problems as it aged.
They called the 3.3l V6 an overhead cam engine. It's an overhead valve. Funny how they get little details wrong in their own videos. I miss my 97 intrepid. The 3.5 was amazing, the styling was my favorite of all my cars to date, fuel mileage was decent, room was off the charts, had a good balance of ride, handling, snow traction, and the reliability was decent.
i owned a 1996 dodge intrepid ES 3.5L V6 with no restrictor plates to limit its speed. it was the best car i've ever owned and it was over a decade old when i got it. i wish they still produced the mid 90's edition instead of the crap they made after in the 2K's
These were awesome cars, if Iacocca had stuck around long enough to see them through the final release stage when small things like reliability and small parts sourcing was completed, they would have fared better in the long run. Instead, Bob Eaton took over right before their release and cut costs wherever he could, resulting in them not being very reliable in the long term.
Dad got one in 1996. The biggest POS ever. Everything went wrong with it. Brakes, oil pump, AC, interior panels started coming off. Dash warped in the sun, read brakes literally fell apart... All before the car ever reached 75K miles.
Those are not the fault of the car, but the owner. A car needs regular maintenance. When you live in a hot climate, the freon will be used up faster and need a charge, if you leave the car in the sun and not sheltered, the dashboard will warp, if you ride the brakes constantly, they will wear down. So the fault is you, not the car.
krzrrazrrokr When I was out in rural Nevada in 2006, you wouldn't find a single car that was over 10 years old that didn't have ruined clearcoat. Desert sun will totally kill the paint and plastics of a car unless you keep it maintained and cared for.
@@palebeachbum Define "other cars". If you mean newer cars with modern paints that withstand heat and sun baking, that does not apply to a 30 year old car.
I have 2 97s and they have the 3.3 and they are so strong and yes the front suspension doesn't fare to well under extreme driving conditions but I haven't had too many issues other than electrical issues and I'm picking one up in a couple days gonna be my 3rd one and this one is showroom quality I'm so excited
Hard to believe that 214 HP was considered powerful in 1993! Of course the 400 HP 1992 Viper was more than 100 HP greater than almost every other car available at that time. Things have certainly changed
Hola es el mejor carro del mundo son los mejores Dios bendiga esa fábrica oooooo empresas de ese maravilloso automóvil gracias x su existencia 🤗🤗🤗💪💪💪👍👍👍🖒🖒🖒los amo mucho
I'm driving one now 93 3.3 Lt 239905 looking like crap rides not smooth but running and running and keeps on ticking done a lot of work the last 6 years not really major change almost all freeze plugs last time change the 2 back of motor had to pull out to fix and put it back in last time i had overheats problem love my car it's just wore out on the riding running like a beast want another one less miles and rides good💯💯💯
When I first got my 3.5l Intrepid, i was very happy. Then, I had major problems with my transmission, head gasket and it threw a rod all before 100,000 miles. When it worked, I actually really liked the car however, it gave me sooooo many problems - too bad actually.
This car was a POS after 3 years, expensive small parts needed to be fixed almost every year. Sensors, electrical and transmission problems like clockwork. As for a riding and driving car it was really good other than that, can't say anything else.
My Mom's Intrepid was Hot Garbage! The engine would literally cut off in traffic, we could have been fucking killed! She bought an accord in 2004 & we have had 0 problems. Best car our family has ever owned. No more American cars for us!

My grandparents had a 1993-97 Dodge Intrepid ES years ago and they loved it as much as I did. Its my all time favorite Dodge model.

I've got 264,000 on my 1996.
239,000 on my 97
It's up to 280,000, check my channel for a vid. of it.
yea we just bought a 97 and it has 228000 miles and still runs like a top
Mine is still going strong. she is a 3.5l witha 174k on her.

That's a good deal. They usually go for $2,000.
More leg room in the back for people you actually like.
People often forget what interesting cars the Intrepid/Concorde/LHS/Vision were.
If you want to get a Dodge Intrepid, this one is the way to go!
"can be used to haul people you actually like" damn son lol
3:46 Chrysler doesn't even compete anymore. They just produce car in the hope of people actually buy from them.
True. But you can thank both Mercedes and Fiat for that.
My 1st "decent" car. Same color but with a rear spoiler. It was like a spaceship back then, in a world full of Ford Tempos and squared GMs.
Same here. I had a ‘78 and ‘79 Cutlass before I got my ‘95 Intrepid for college. Was a great car!
Very beautiful car
Back in the day, those were nice cars
Still nice cars. Great platform.

This car is beautiful.. unfortunately we don't see any nice ones in the streets today.. the ones we see on the streets are rusty and totally junk!
+hemidesign I still drive a 97, currently at 222,000 miles.
it is beautiful when I was a kid from 2-4 1/2 my mom had a 96 intrepid and it's the reason why I love cars
+Sleeper Iroc I have the intrepid es at 86,973 miles, a 2004 I think.

The early nineties were a great time to be alive.
Damn right 😎👍

I like the New Yorker from that era a lot.

@@MrWolfSnack Except other cars don't have those issues under the same conditions, rendering the quality of the Intrepid as inferior.
