    These things are so incredible and underrated, I think JPL should be more exposed to the public, as they are also doing incredibly cool and advanced things

      @Jme TN HYDROGEN HAS NO NEUTRON. MANY THINGS YOU DO NOT KNOW ABOUT ATOM AND THEIR SMALLEST UNIT LIKE ELECTRON ,PROTON AND NEUTRON,MESON,NEUTEINO,ANTINEUTRINO AND MANY MORE ,SO U SHOULD STUDY HARD AND THEN COMMENT.

    This is a fantastic video! It is wonderful to learn that access to microgravity on ISS has such an important use. Is it critical to the functioning of the Cold Atom Lab that it is deployed on a human-staffed station, or could it be aloft on some other non-inhabited satellite?

    Cold Atoms are elements in the periodic table that exists in their natural state at a very extreme low temperature, some of them close to absolute zero Kelvin for example a metallic or a Gas element.
    If you suddenly release an enough amount of Cold Gas into Earth atmosphere the difference in temperature creates the effect of a bomb perhaps similar to what a nucelar fuel does when fision takes place.

    Still hearing "in two places at once" which is not exactly true. Reality is probabilistic until observed/measured and quantum phenomena appear beyond the resolution of the system.. the data representing those quantum objects could be thought of as being in an UNDEFINED state, obeying wave probability laws until particle actualization.
    Massively impressive stuff NASA.. more content please !

    One could assume an ultra cold atom wouldn't be very useful for keeping accurate time in an atomic clock.

    Oh, I get it finally. The atoms are suspended in the trap but would fall to the bottom of the trap due to gravity. Not a problem in space

    #NASAJetPropulsionLaboratory, switch to the metric system!
    You know that you really do use the metric system rather than the U.S. customary system, because it is more practical for it is based on the decimal number, 10! All countries, including Canada, Mexico, Venezuela, Brazil, Peru, France, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Russia, Australia, and South Africa use the metric system, and it is used in every field of occupation, including astronomy, aerospace, healthcare, military, science and international trade.

    The coldest experiment in the universe?!..
    As a scientist you should never define something as "The most" anything, knowing something "more" is possible...

    • @xXscreamingkoalaXx
      @xXscreamingkoalaXx 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's boring. Also they know pretty dang sure that things dont get colder than absolute zero. Look up "negative temperatures" and whether they exist.

    • @thederpydude2088
      @thederpydude2088 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You both DO have a point. What the video means probably, is that this is the coldest we can get in the natural universe, or simply that it’s the furthest they have gone so far. However, they could get colder since the video said that it IS slightly above absolute zero.

    • @XFourty7
      @XFourty7 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thederpydude2088 Yeah.. My initial point was; Assuming that we are the only things in the universe conducting experiments is sad :P... "The known universe" would be more applicable, but even then if someone or something else exists they know about it too lol.
