Thanks so much for the tutorial, I have a 1996 T-100 4x4 and the plastic in my latch fell apart similar to yours, I headed to one of those "Pull A Part" yards and pulled parts from two different 4 Runners and also an old Camry. I gained lots of experience pulling the latch assemblies apart at the salvage yard (I didn't want to buy the entire assemblies) which helped me when I swapped the mechanisms over to mine. I also gathered a spare set for each door while I was at it. The truck door closes just like new again!

@@sweine1974 Hello! I'm from Russia. There are only two Toyota T100s in the whole country. One of them is mine, and the other is somewhere in another part of the country. This is a very, very rare car here. I know that many parts are suitable from other models. The problem is that there is almost no information about this car and the numbers from the official spare parts catalogs almost do not overlap with the catalog numbers from other Toyota models. It’s good that there are people from America who make useful videos about this car. (sorry if I write some words incorrectly. I’m using an automatic translator. But overall I think it’s clear).
The door slamming is the only think I don’t like about my 1997 4Runner. I’ve looked for new plastic parts but no luck. Can only used parts be purchased?
Where did you end up finding your replacement part? It seems like it only comes in an entire assembly instead of just the face plate that you swapped out. Did you get it from a salvage yard?
Steve, is there a way to open the door when it's stuck closed? My 96 t100 not longer wants to open. I have taken the door panel off, all the rods are connected but no amount of pulling on the rods will open the door. Is there some trigger I can click from the inside of the door to open the door?
I had to take the bottom bolt out that holds the window track in place. It is at the bottom of the door edge. Then that gives you a little room inside the door to slide that whole mechanism down and around it. Does that help?

Salvage yard. From the back door of a four runner if I remember.

Maybe 30 - 45 minutes. From start to finish. I havent had to take them apart since my last fix.
