Thank you so kindly for this awesome video. You went there on such a beautiful day and capture those prime scenes, Lovely Much calmer waters than I have read about. Thank you.
My recommendation is to keep it on your bucket list. It's worth every moment of the journey. I'd go back in a heart beat, but must work on my bucket list too.
I hope you do make it to this enchanting area of the world ,I am so lucky to have cruised to Argentina and Chile, very special memories. Brought back by this beautiful video . kind regards from Andrew. 🇦🇺 Australia
Beautiful video. My wife and I went to the same area ,March 2020 we had similar conditions .I feel so privileged to have done that cruise. Kind regards from. Australia
A beautiful video. So that's what Cape Horn looks like! I was on the first Whitbread Round the World Race in 1973/74. We rounded at night and as that was in the days before GPS, we all stood well clear of Cape Horn. That morning we made landfall at the Diego Ramirez Islands which are about 60nm south-west of Cape Horn. That enabled us to check the accuracy of our celestial navigation which had not been checked since New Zealand. By sunset, and still short of Cape Horn, the wind had built up to hurricane Force 12. The wind noise was deafening. Our yacht was 18m long.
Thanks for viewing my video. Sounds like your yachting adventure encompassed a lot of unexpected, yet wonderful experiences. Always good be be back home safely...
truly awesome and beautiful. i can't really travel so i look at videos on youtube. i appreciate the free vacations lol. this was remarkably well done and beautiful. thank you for this.
ThX for made this video! Ultimately great video from this area. All of the passengers on aboard were very lucky to got this mild weather on the route. You can find many-many sights in this area, the fog is bad luck if someone goes there.
Matt, it truly was a fantastic trip and had been in my "bucket list" for a long time. It's an incredible place and the trip to Antarctica was exciting as well as cruising the channels of the peninsula. You should go.
A professor from my former workplace visited Antarctica in early 2018, as the last continent for him to visit. He went there from Usuaia and he told me that the boat trip to Antarctica, the seas were rough.
4:12 As the ship travels south you can see current flowing from west to east (right to left). That's the Antarctic Circumpolar Current, responsible for the turbulent waters of the Drake Passage further south.
We were certainly lucky on our voyage. Yes, it was rough but nothing like we were prepared for. Sometimes one gets lucky. Coming back as a bit rougher than going down.
I know there is an area named tierra del fuego attatched to south america but on earlier maps there was terra del fuego and it was an island south of south america accompanied by other islands as well that you can see from cape horn. "Antarctica" continent was not on the map and lower part of south america was called antarctica. Other islands near were terra de lacach and terra de galeca i believe. You should be able to see antarctica continent from cape horn and you cannot. Only those islands and there is no snow or ice on them either.
We did this cruise this year. Cape Horn is so historic and the Drake Passage is a sailors graveyard. Crossing the Passage was rough water so I can’t imagine what it was like in a small ship 100 years ago. Yikes 🛳
I would love to live there away from people, politics, pollution, and pride. I most definitely want to know what it feels to be free and not be stereotyped, ridiculed, and judged the ultimate freedom.
Josh, thanks for your comment. The trip to Antarctica was something that I have wanted to do for so long. I found it to be a special place and leaving from Cape Horn and traversing the Drake Passage offered an exciting introduction to the voyage.
4:23 I beg to have respect and to correctly make the maps in the infographic: the southern territory of Chile corresponding to Puerto Williams, the Hornos Islands Archipelago (of which you make your video) and the Diego Ramirez Islands (the true "end of the world") IS OMITTED
Hi Andy. Not sure what your point is. Respectfully, I'm not sure about the meaning of the comment about the "true end of the world." Did I miss something in my video?
Hi love the footage. I have recently recorded a guitar video of Rounding the Cape' by Tol and Tol. If iwere to give credt to you, would you mind me using asmall part of your video as abacground Kind Regards................Mick
For whatever reason, we were just lucky when we went through the passage. It was a little rough but nothing like its normal rage. Thanks for watching the video.

Glad you enjoyed it. We were fortunate in that we had calmer than normal seas.
Informative, beautiful and quietly powerful. Love it! Thanks for posting.
Thank you for viewingñ appreciate your comments
Thank you for the kind words. They encourage me to keep posting videos of places we've visited. This one, of course, was very special to us.
This is on my bucket list, including South Georgia. But for now watching TH-cam videos will have to suffice. Great video. Nicely edited.
My recommendation is to keep it on your bucket list. It's worth every moment of the journey. I'd go back in a heart beat, but must work on my bucket list too.
I usually am not a fan of bucket list but I hope and pray you’ll make that journey someday D-Guess

The professor is right about the rough seas (Drake Passage). I was very fortunate to have relatively calm seas both ways we I went.
Brilliant. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Beautiful Scenery
It really is!

Interesting. I believe Antarctica is about 600 mile thru the Drake passage.

Me neither. What courage they had.

You certainly do get the sense of the "ultimate freedom" when sailing in this remote part of the world.
Superb !!
Ray, I'm glad you enjoyed the short video. Our voyage to Antarctica was a special addition to the South American cruise.
LOVE to go and visit 🕊 peace from goudhurst Kent UK 🕊
Thanks for watching and I hope you have the chance to make the journey sometime soon.
My mind keeps pulling me to these areas
I found it to be one of the best adventures that I have been on. Definitely worth the trip.
Beautiful!

Do you need any type of permissions to sail the Drake or around the Horn?
Sorry, can't answer your question. I was with Holland America on my journey.

Believe Cape Horn is in Chile
Awesome 👍
Thank you! Cheers!

Good Video
Perhaps the best cruise that I have taken - 28 days on the high seas.

Mick, I'd love to hear your guitar video. Where is it available. By all means, use any part of my video for your production.
what is the name of this song??
In Reference by David Tolk. Great soundtrack for this particular adventure
I would have to agree with you.
appears to be unseasionably calm. This is not its normal appearance...one of the most hazardous passages in the world...Far too many lives lost here
For whatever reason, we were just lucky when we went through the passage. It was a little rough but nothing like its normal rage. Thanks for watching the video.
Should have done some diving fishing surfing something
It would have been nice but unfortunately, time did not permit.
I don't know what all the fuss is about - where are the 10,000ft waves and the demon mermaids?!
I wouldn't try it in a row boat.
What's with people and dramatic music? Jesus
Beats me!
