    Piggypuggy, when I saw the 1.20 beehoon n porridge, I felt so proud of the owners still delivering such pricing. A way to serve the lesser community and people who needs to fill the stomach. Well done Uncles and Aunties!

    Whenever I’m back from the US, I always stop by China Town Hawker Center… cos that’s where I could find all those old school delicacies 😊 Thank you again for showing us more delicious and amazing food!!! To be frank, I have to get my mom to send me some Singapore coffee as it just taste so much better than having Starbucks in my office everyday ❤

      Oh gosh.. Starbucks.. and at such a price.. not SGD$1.30 😂 These days can vacuum pack it into small weekly packs. No prob w US customs for packed food items right? Ever shipped Bak kwa vacuum packed? 😄 or Bak Huu for porridge? The coffee grinder is a China brand. Flying eagle. Prob can get from Taobao.

      Try buying Owl brand 3-in-1 or 2-in-1 Kopi-O coffee sachets. They are convenient packs of pre-mix coffee that’s closest in taste to the coffee made in SG coffee shops.

    Love the Caribbean/bluegrass sound track rolling over the visual story telling, Piggy. Similarly, your occasional text commentary is a wonderful counter point to the clatter and chatter of the live sound recording. Champagne journalism. Champagne journalism.

      Thank you Mark 😄 it sounds way better than my slurping for sure. I found many speaking Cantonese there.. brings me back to the 70s market scenes where there’s always a Cantonese corner and Teochew corner. And some of these hawkers used to be at the streets right across the building. The lady was telling me she had been patronising the bee Hoon stall since their days by the street. Which was till 1981-2

    Just toooooo many good food stalls in this hawker. My favourite hawker centre. My usual first stop would be the Mong Kok Dim Sum stall to grab a queue number then proceed to buy and eat my food while waiting for their char siew baos LOL.
    Love that corner Hill Street fried kuey tiao. The uncle is so dedicated and he fried it plate by plate, hence the long queue but it's the type I love, not the wet kind. There are still many stalls I have not try there. That Bedok Chee kuih changed to the bigger size quite a long time already. Still attracts long queue at Bedok Interchange hawker.

    • @Piggypuggy
      @Piggypuggy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not many CKT places fry plate by plate already.. the other one is in Ghim Moh.. I think they wanna keep the cockles cooked just right..
      I once chatted the Hokkien Mee guy who fries 30 plates at a go.. he also said there’s definitely a difference between the first and the last serving even tho it’s just seconds apart. But he said no choice. Cannot keep up with demand.
      I think the Bedok Chwee kueh might have changed wverywheee coz the keuh comes from a central kitchen. Now so ex. 1 for $1.20.
      I like missed that Mong Kok dim sum when I was there.. alamak.

    If you do not eat in hawker centers, you will find difficult to absorb the "street culture". If you have been dining in restaurants and expect the same serving standards hawker centers, you are comparing apples to oranges. There is no comparison. Change your mindset and live in the streets for a while if you value the street food. You do not get the authentic tastes in the restaurants - even though the Micheli Award is there. Authentic and original tastes are only found in the street food. Flavour that has been passed down by generations.

    This Weng Kiang Kee porridge is legit good …. but if I’m very hungry I won’t want to quene 40 min. I personally prefer the Chef Leung CCF (hk style milled ccf) a few stalls down Mongkok dim sum for BF though …. You were early enough to dabao Fatty Ox as the beef brisket sells out fast

      @Piggypuggy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Is that right?? Almost everyone was lining up for that brisket noodles. Including workers there who are willing to fork out $6 for a plate.
      As for Weng Kiang.. I see many ah peks reading newspaper sipping Kopi while waiting for their porridge. Not bad huh. Only 5years into the trade. I wonder if I’ve missed some stalls like Chef Leung you mentioned

      @@Piggypuggy the owner was a ex hotel chef … so far the quality of his porridge is consistent whenever I have it. I like that this stall is located at the quieter corner which is less stuffy. Is all the food video showing being organic food?
    Are the video encouraging people to eat organic food?
    Based on the price of organic ingredient, the organic food is tasteless and not much sweetness and flavor.
    Should use more approved industrial food chemical to enhance the taste and flavor of organic food.
    Can eat more things into the body.

    Hi Uncle, my mum and I always bring our own stainless steel fork & spoon, and wooden chopsticks to hawker centres. I know it sounds silly but we hate eating with plastic utensils or ridiculous biodegradable utensils.
