This was a lot of fun, Tasha and I enjoyed every second of this reaction. Which episode should we do next? As always full episode reactions will be available for patrons on Patreon.
If you not gonna do it in chronological order, i suggest episode 25 from first season. Just as the title says it´s the one were they reminisce over how they met each other and decided to live together (so constant flashbacks.
Season 1 Episode 8: Break In Such a range of emotions in this episode. I've seen GG so much I don't always laugh anymore, but there is a moment in this episode that never fails to crack me up.
Coco would have made more sense as a friend of the girls than a live in housekeeper. Three adult women living together would have been too sensible to have a live in cook. But I feel bad that the actor playing Coco was cut entirely.
Also, Bea Arthur had wanted to leave after the first season but was convinced to stay; she had to be convinced again after seasons 5/6 for S-7 because she again wanted to leave.
The cook was only in the pilot episode. Bc Sophia needed a place to stay, after the retirement home she was living at burned down. The golden girls was ahead of it's time. I would tell you, in what ways. But i don't want to spoil it for you. If you keep watching the series, wether full episodes or compilations, you'll be genuinely surprised.
It's supposedly Miami but that house is actually in Brentwood California , About 4 years ago it was up for sale for 3 million dollars ! And anytime someone is in the hospital and they show the hospital from the outside , That is Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach California , Where I worked for 5 years in the first half of the 90s ! Just a little trivia I thought you might like to know !?
My understanding is that originally they only planned to have the show be about the 3 women(Dorothy, Blanche, and Rose) along with the cook(Coco) but everyone loved Sophia so much they decided to keep her while ditching the cook as I suppose they thought 5 people was too much for one household. I’m glad they did this of course as I love Sophia, but I kinda wish they had mentioned Coco leaving to make room for Sophia as he’s just gone in episode 2 as if he never existed.
Golden Girls and Designing Women (and Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune) are the shows I have fond memories of watching with my grandma when I was a kid!
This show had the best writing - they won Emmy awards every season, if not for the actresses (Which it did - each actress won an Emmy for their performance), then for the show itself - it won "Best Comedy Show" (twice) and several awards for the writing in specific episodes. The only thing they faltered at was the CONTINUITY over seven years, and that's because they had new writers come in periodically.
I like you all's reactions. And I LOVED Golden Girls. Glad you mentioned the guy in the first scenes. And as I was watching, it was frustrating my energy because he didn't belong. I didn't remember him even being on the show. Glad they wrote him out.
Bea Arthur had a show in the 1970's called "Maude". This was a funny episode that dealt with changing attitudes around drugs: "Maude" The Grass Story (TV Episode 1972)
Blanche and the Younger Man episode TNT is a hilarious episode for you to react to for the Golden Girls. Thanks TNT for this great reaction! You can’t go wrong with the GG.
Wanna do it again? Nope. 😂 If my memory serves me right, it was a 4 bedroom. Still baffling to know Betty White (Rose) was the oldest of all the ladies, IRL, when the character is so naive. It's mind-blowing 🤯 to think that Estelle Getty (Sophia) was younger IRL than Bea Arthur (Dorothy) IRL, yet their roles were reversed, and nobody watching would have even considered that! Great show that one. 1985-1992. I wasn't even a month old when that show debuted but I love it. Been a while since I watched through the series. I think I may flashback to a better time for... the next 4 years or so
After episode 1 it´s Sophia who does most of the cooking. A true italian mom aka master cook. Rose tries often, but her coice in ingredients or how they are combined are just as ridiculous as her St. olaf backstories.
Season 4 episode 1 is one of my favorite episodes, and so is season 5 episode 2. (Is it bad i know this?) Blanche is just on point in that one. Blanche is my favorite and those two episodes are some of her best I think.
@@tntreactions No no I get you have 10 min its the norm its just most people show clips of the the beginning middle and end of a episode instead of like the first 10 min
The first episode is good, but the episodes get much better. They also had a lot of topics that were taboo on tv back then, like the gay housekeeper, for instance.
The 80s and 90s tv shows were so much better, family oriented, wholesome shows, but today’s tv shows are more reality types, where you dont have to pay the stars for each episode anymore, and just not funny anymore, or family oriented either today.
I love The Golden Girls! They're all retirement age, so at least 62 - 65. And Sophia is older & from "the old country". Rose was born & raised in her country & I'm not sure how/why she came to America. But she's got some stories & habits from her country that will have you rotfl! And if you watch the characters she's talking to you'll sometimes see them trying not to bust out laughing because of Rose's innocent line delivery. Some of their best outtakes are from other characters laughing at Rose! 😅Rose is played by the legendary Betty White! She's been a wild card & limit pusher since at least the 40s! She passed away not long ago at 100 years old! I bet the angels are having a great time sitting around the heavenly coffee table w/Betty! 😊💕 BTW - This show, like many in its day, was filmed before a live audience. So the laughter you hear is real, not a laugh track like most shows today. 😊

Sick and Tired 1 & 2; Henny Penny
Season 1 Episode 8: Break In
Such a range of emotions in this episode. I've seen GG so much I don't always laugh anymore, but there is a moment in this episode that never fails to crack me up.
The complete series in chronological order is best way to watch.
😂
@@tntreactions Season 2 Episode 4 "It's A Miserable Life". Rose and Sophia are funny in it.
The show doesnt even pick up until the end of the first season, so it's a good sign you're already laughing ☺️
they only wanted Sophia for this episode, but stayed for 7 seasons, and got rid of the housekeeper.
Coco would have made more sense as a friend of the girls than a live in housekeeper. Three adult women living together would have been too sensible to have a live in cook. But I feel bad that the actor playing Coco was cut entirely.
@@sweeney60True -- it made sense for Cocoa to be Blanche's cook when she lived alone, but not with the three women together.

@@tideoftime Not really, because Blanche the one initially struggling with not-straight persons a few times across the series.
Why would the only want her for one episode when she's one of the main characters mother?
Yess please react to the whole episodes in order they have so much good lessons and story lines not just comedy ❤ MORE WE NEED IT!
I enjoy watching you both enjoying Golden Girls. I used to watch this show with my mom.

Sophia only stayed like her episode one look a little bit she becomes the firery person rather quick then just the retirement home elderly person
SHADY PINES, MA!!
One of the best television pilots ever! Sets up the series perfectly. Love your reactions to it.
Please keep watching!!!! Yeah, they had the cook for a moment but the writing and their friendships are where all the great humor comes from.

GG never bothered much with ensuring continuity. Luckily it really doesn’t matter in this show.
It was common for a show pilot not to match with the second episode.
I think Betty White originally auditioned for Blanche because she was Sue Anne Nivens on the MTM Show and Rue was supposed to be Rose Nylund
"Mary Tyler Moore" show was timeless & priceless! 👍
You are correct but then the show runners and team decided to switch them. Only way Bea would be on the show.
This show was so underrated for many years, but it's really funny!!!!
This show paired with ‘Designing Women’ and you’ll have the best laughs of your life.
I was going to suggest 'Designing Women'. I am watching that series right now on Prime! Hilarious!!!

@@donaldoutdoors Ooh, it's on Prime? Thanks for letting me know!
What made this show so great was Betty White (Rose) and Estelle Getty (Sophia,. They were both natural comedians.
You guys are in for a treat I love the Golden Girls ❤
Watching y’all laugh makes my day. Thanks for starting this show.

The cook was only in the pilot. Once Sophia was there, she became the main cook, so they didn't need him anymore.
My favorite part of the whole episode is when Dorothy threw Rose into the closet.

Betty white was a national treasure. She plays the stupid lady perfectly
I hope you'll be watching more Golden Girls episodes. They are so good
Enjoyed this reaction! I just liked and subscribed!
Subbed for Golden Girls! Watch the whole show!
Sofia who I can't remember her real name is actually the youngest of the 4 of them.
Estelle Getty, born in 1923
After episode 1 it´s Sophia who does most of the cooking. A true italian mom aka master cook. Rose tries often, but her coice in ingredients or how they are combined are just as ridiculous as her St. olaf backstories.
I love all the old shows! Bewitched, I dream of jeanie, the munsters, i love Lucy! All great shows.
Did you know that both Dorothy (Bea Arthur) and Sophia ( Estelle Getty) were roughly the same age?
I used to watch this show with my mother. I better subscribe if you decide to watch it all.
Loved this 😂 You guys should react to Sophia’s funniest moments

You have to watch the episode when Blanche, Rose, Dorothy go to a nudist resort.😅
The episodes get much better after the pilot. The pilot is groundbreaking but it musts gets better and better.
I still watch and love this show
The thing is they aren't even that old
SKIP TO SEASON 3 AND GO FROM THERE THEN DOUBLE BACK.
Love this show
There missing a good bit more that was really fun to tell more of the episode
Unfortunately, we can't upload the full episode to youtube so we will continue to do clips.

I believe that the characters were in their 60s except for Sophia who was in her 80s.
I think the cook was only there for the one episode.
Love it
The first episode is not that good. IMO. They were just feeling out the waters. It gets better and better.

Rose Nyland was born and raised in Minnesota.

Sophia Petrillo: 79-86
Rose Nylund:55-62
Dorothy Zbornak: 54-61
Blanche Devereaux: 53-60

The cook was only in the pilot episode... He didn't fit the formula of this show at all.
