Im from Europe and in 2013 i traveled to Australia to see him play ... not his best year but the two matches that i got to see (quarter finals and semis) were a total previlage to watch - also i got to see him practice ... a dream .... hundreds of fans floking around him (where as at the time when Djokovic was at his best (and at no 1 - there were about 50 people at his practise sessions) anyway you get the point ...

Probably the only loss in Rafa’s career where I wasn’t too upset over the result, considering we had a throwback Fedal final, considering Rafa’s struggles in 2015-16, and because Federer 100% deserved it.
Roger and Rafa ARE men's tennis. Over and over these two warriors would bring out the best and worse in one another. This match again revived the maestro. That was enough for Roger to keep winning more big titles. Then the knee began again to give Roger more troubles than his body could take. A player of unappreciated grit and hustle. Here Roger had to battle his mental demons to conquer his greatest rival and nemesis yet AGAIN! Now Roger will make the Laver cup his last outing as a pro. As much as I would've loved to have seen him comeback just one more time, I am happy for the man. He has nothing more to prove, and his all-round all surface genius will remain exclusively his to savor. Diehard Fed fan and this is definitely my favorite match of his. I used to love the Australian Open cuz I would go out that Saturday night and get fucked up and record the match and start watching it the next morning when I woke up after a cocktail or two to get me going. I wouldn't check my phone or anything until the match was over. That was a great one to watch

The old dogs gave it all like there was no tomorrow, they played the best points of the match in the clutch moments despite their legs were done long ago. The best rivalry ever.

Just watching the new gen guys play in 2024 and Sinner has just won the Aus Open. Tennis really has gotten so monotonous since Federer - Everyone is an athlete and less of a tennis player. Everyone is standing much behind the baseline and every rally is a matter or endurance than anything else. I so miss Federer playing genius points standing right at the line - I doubt anyone of the new players will be able to effectively play at such speed with the ball being taken so early. Many years later people might feel that the game was slower watching Federer play but it was indeed the opposite - the pt at 3:10 will underline this
I and my family were in Thailand during the match. When Federer lost his serve on the fifth, I thought game was over. I checked back one or two hour later, it was somehow Fed pulled it off. What a miracle it was.

Just watching the new gen guys play in 2024 and Sinner has just won the Aus Open. Tennis really has gotten so monotonous since Federer - Everyone is an athlete and less of a tennis player. Everyone is standing much behind the baseline and every rally is a matter or endurance than anything else. I so miss Federer playing genius points standing right at the line - I doubt anyone of the new players will be able to effectively play at such speed with the ball being taken so early. Many years later people might feel that the game was slower watching Federer play but it was indeed the opposite - the pt at 3:10 will underline this

I and my family were in Thailand during the match. When Federer lost his serve on the fifth, I thought game was over. I checked back one or two hour later, it was somehow Fed pulled it off. What a miracle it was.
Not a federer fan and altough I expected this.. damn feels weird he's going to retire. Regardless he is and always will be a legend of the game and sports in general

Nadal and Djkovic can rack up 8-10 slams between them (as they will have a duopoly on Grass and Clay) for the next 4 years and will sneak in a couple of US and Australian. This match made me a Federer fan forever, a huge number of slams check beating your nemesis after 10 years check, i just wish he served an ace (which he often does) in the 2 Championship points at Wimbledon '19 to concretely close the Djkovic debate, but for me he is still the GOAT.
