2024, anyone? or just me😢
I'm here too! God I miss Roger's beautiful aggression. I know we are blessed to have Carlos and Sinner now, but Roger still reaches snapshots of perfection that no one will ever replicate.
😊
Here
Always coming back to admire RF class
👍🎾
Things that hurt me:
1) That Federer didn't finish No. 1 of 2017
2) The two match points lost at Wimbledon 2019
Only didn’t finish number one cause he didn’t play enough
He got it for a few weeks in 2018 anyway
If he played the clay season and reached semis and quarters, he would've been no.1 easily
@@BrandonSG13 No, because he got injured in the US season and screwed up his finale.
2nd one heart me most ever
I almost forgot about those match points until I find your comment :(
Roger's level in IW that year was astonishing. One of his greatest tourments ever.
indeed, he maintained that through miami as well
@@Tronny Amazing that he got through Miami as well, quite a dam tough draw.. Tiafoe, Bautista Agut, del Potro, Berdych, Kyrgios, Nadal
@@armadyl1212 Yeah true that, 2 MPs down against berdych and could've easily lose to kyrgios in that titanic battle
@man bat not really...
Basically, 2017 roger was absolutely brutal
I swear I miss the Roger of AO 17, IW 17 and Miami 17. Never felt that good.
No one beats that fed
Can't argue there... He was unbeatable in 2017
It just comes to show how good Kyrgios is. He was so close to beat that version of Federer
@@bowiththeflow7123 Berdych came closer
I would maybe replace Miami 2017 with Shanghai 2017.
This is the most aggressive version of Federer ever on any surface. His backhand was on fire even though he was 35 years old. Federer backhand played like Wawrinka backhand.
Utter domination indeed
yeah bro and he probably would've won the us open as well if the heat didn't kill him against millman, that entire year was insane
@@Tronny that was 2018, not 2017. In 2018, federer was horrible after IW
@@dewman7477 oh fk yeah u right, it was delpo, I watched that live on tv how could i forget lmao, yeah that was even worse he had so many missed opportunities in that match and after smashing him in miami
Idk what`s up with all this wawrinka`s backhands hype. He can only wish to do what federer does. Power wise, yes i give it to the otherr swiss haha
To be honest , I've never seen Nadal really look so shocked and helpless against Federer .
Federer beat him 4 out of 4 times in 2017.After that they have not met on HC and now, probably ,never will.Yeah,Nadal does look bewildered here though his performance was better than in IW, that year.
@/S_/H_/U_/K_/R_/A_/Y_/E / ,I was referring in the context of Fedal matches in IW and Miami. Nadal was bad in Miami, he was worse in IW.
@man bat Really , are you sure ??? Nadal reached the final in Australia and Acapulco before coming to Indian Wells .
man bat Nadal is out of his prime? He won the both the French Open and the US Open in 2017 quite convincingly and was the world #1. Plus he is 5 years younger than Federer. But he was out of his prime. That makes sense /sarc
@@celestialspartan7977 if they meet in 2019 in hard courts it is advantage to Nadal..
His 2017's backhand was the ultimate.
th-cam.com/video/cNKApfPqNf4/w-d-xo.html
I still come back to this video from time to time. 2017 Federer during AO, Sunshine double and Wimbledon was arguably his highest level. He finally learned how not to allow Nadal to harass his backhand and the tables turned - 5 consecutive wins. Best backhand ever.
Man, it has already been 3 years now. Time really does fly.
:(
Yep, goes crazily fast buddy
Now 4 years
Fed is so elegant
2017 and early 2018 was his gift to us. We had been hearing since 2011 that he was too old, behind the times, wrong racquet, weak era, etc. 2017 into 2018, after a knee surgery at 35yrs old, no less, he produced some of his best tennis.
Look at the way he moves on the tennis court. The way he dropped volleys, dropshots, backhand , slices. Everything about him is beautiful and graceful. Roger Federer is a beautiful player. It doesn't mean that Nadal and Novak aren't good. But Federer is something else.
The year we saw the best of Roger.. Winning slams at age of 35.years..... I waited 5 years of agony and heartbreaks to feel this ecstasy.... ❤️❤️❤️💯
Imagine watching him in his prime we were getting endless ecstasy
And I'll gladly wait another year for this kinda display of tennis. Rest well weary warrior.
@@98TheJackInTheBox 😂
@@98TheJackInTheBox bro we grow up watching federer we watch the best tennis ever we cant ever get that again we are lucky indeed
@@ouazizireda8809 it hasn't hit home for me that he's gone
"Too big, too fast, too strong... and simply, too good..." - Robbie Koenig.
That backhand that year is just unbelievable astonishing !!!
I think every real talent should master the one-handed backhand, or am I mistaken?
I cannot imagine it was fun to play Roger between January and March 2017. His sustained level from the AO through Miami was insane, especially for a 35, nearly 36 year old.
Rafa be like: I can't exploit his backhand anymore, no?
Ombeliebeble no?!
@@MKD1101 That's ok, because I made you cry like a baby lol. Get Doowwwwn.
@@thisnamealsotaken it's a joke idiot.
What a backhand, what confidence, aggression and power. Also such beautiful tennis it's positively moving to watch.
I still remember the early part of 2017 like it was yesterday. Roger had this newfound confidence on the BH side and was absolutely rifling it DTL & it had his opponents, mainly Rafa, SHOOKED!
Shookt!
Mountain top Federer. The aggression, variety, calm, focus, and belief in 2017 was an alchemy of brilliance.
Watching this quality of play from Roger is like watching magic! I’m so happy I decided to take the day off and drive 4 and a half hours to watch my all-time favorite player and play an enthralling match against Berdych in Miami! One of my best tennis memories ever!
Just realized Federer had a crazy lineup to go through for Miami: Tiafoe (NextGen), Del Potro (US Open Champion), Bautista Agut (Ferrer 2.0), Berdych (long time top 10), Kyrigos (NextGen Star), Nadal (ultimate rival)
The truth is that tennis is at its best when Federer is flowing. it just is a dream to watch.
What a season this was for Roger. 5 years on, I still remember what a wonderful year this was with the resurgence of Roger and Rafa. The performance of Roger that whole year was sublime.
Roger's feel for the game, brilliance and display of raw emotion touches you on a completely different level when compared to Djokovic, Nadal or any of the top players. People often try to rationalise the GOAT - the truth is there is nothing rational about the love for Federer!
The fact he did this far past his prime is just more evidence he's the GOAT! STATS AREN'T THE END ALL BE ALL!
Djokovic winning 3 grand slams at the age of 36. Federer did this at 35. Shows why Djokovic is the GOAT.
The level in IW was the best he has played since 2006. It looked like nobody could hang with him. In Miami he was less dominant and those conditions are probably less favourable to him than in the desert but the mental toughness and physical skill was still properly on point. What a great year for him!
Boomshki! What a piece of commentary!
He had a killer backhand in 2017, he has win Miami, indian wells, Australia open, wimbeldon and Shanghai..... He's the icon he's the goat 🦌
What a superhuman comeback it was in 2017! A dream year…Just incredible to realize now the insane level Fed was playing at…and that backhand!
While Fed takes an inevitable exit from the tour, a lot of the 2017 highlights will help us relive his legacy..And not to forget the outfits, Nike outdid itself with such an amazing collection…FedForever
It wasn't just that Roger transformed his majestic backhand, but he took so many chances with his aggressive style. Just so damned sublime ❤
Roger performance at AO, IW and MI that year was crazy good! Don`t get me started on that "new backhand" points which were jaw dropping...! Miss this guy! Was sooooo lucky to meet him at IW 2017!
His backhand was absolutely insane in the first half of 2017
R Federer is probably the Greatest Tennis Player of all time he is relentless and who can tire from observing his performances
best tennis level ever
Talk about elegance and class no one does it better than the goat himself Roger
Almost forgot to watch this today
Glimpse of the master from glory days... the G.O.A.T.
I have never seen a level of play as high as Federer's when he wore that green shirt in 2017. He was an absolute assassin on the court.
2017 similar year comes to 2021 ...
Mark my word ...
Federer's come back stronger ever ...
Historic comeback from federer..
God bless him...
And he is surely tag greatest player👍
Bless from all over world from federer's fan ...
As much as I would love that to happen it is quite improbable
2021 even better year for Novak😄
2017 was a very memorable year as a Federer fan. Thanks Tennis TV for these highlights.
8:35, probably my favourite shot combo from Fed that year, possibly ever...
The way he constructed that point was unreal. And Stan was hitting back like a bazooka.
That half volley on Stan's missile FH went back with some interest. Only Roger can pull that shot off with that much ease. Followed by a ridiculous drop volley. Too fuckin good!
The combo when he moves his opponent off 1 side of the court and finishes it in the other end was better imo.
Stan shot to the line: Big shot fed has to defend
Fed: no i dont think i will
ends the point 1 shot later on the net
Stan: WTF?
That volley was ridiculous
The way he sneaked into the net deceiving the oponent nd surprising the oponent was amazing
Federer’s outfit 😍
One of the best season Federer had
Amazing because his draw in Miami that year was so tough..to take out RBA, Delpo, Berdych, Kyrgios and Nadal…crazy.
i can watch this time after time after time, what a dream come true that was, loved every single match and the one against kyrgios was something else.
This Roger gave me the best tennis memory
After watching this is there any doubt that he is the greatest player ever?
Roger during his Renaissance may have been his best ever. He went from already GOAT status and found a new level, even if for just a few months.
Can't believe Wimbledon has been cancelled!! I was hoping for another Djoker Fed final. And also seeing how the younger players fared! Plus the Spanish guy that always loses to Roger and Nole 😂
No need to be so mean, Bautista Agut tries his best.
@@gabrielvergarasanmartin5233 Damn😂😂
@@adriantroickic8477 And that how does that "Spanish guy" fair against Djokovic?
What's with this pathetic troll? 😂😂 Stop living in the past, dudes, it was the only year of his career when Federer dominated Nadal, just ONE, get over it
@@tennisradu After AO 14 to now.
The streets will never forget 2017 Roger
2017 was my favorite tennis year. My 2 favorite players winning all GS, Laver cup introduction with Roger final win, Rafa and Roger’s match at the AO, etc.
True, for me too
In 2017 Roger federer play like flying Superman..
Unbelievable tennis from Roger, 2017 was a crazy year
Was this the best Federer everer?
I personally think he played the best in the ao final against nadal
No way.
Yesserer
Maybe tied with the utter domination over Murray - ATP Finals 2014
Arguably.
AO 07 and Federer 05/06 is in the mix.
comeback to this video every once a year... what a treat
This wasn't the best Federer as many people wants to believe, but definitely was the most pleasant to watch for destroying Nadal with such ease.
IW 17 was close to his best though. AO 17 and Miami 17 showed his clutchness.
It was definetely the best federer. He himself said in 2015, that he played better in that year than in 2005, and 2017 was even better than 2015
@@alexfratelli8936 his age, physical fitness, and achievement doesn't support his statement.
@@alexfratelli8936 You didn't understood him.
He meant about his experience. Of course he's a "better" player because of it, he knows much more than in 2006. That doesn't mean he wins more, and anyone who watched him can say that a lot of his shots were better in 2005 than now.
@@Masterdoctorgenius14 IW showed what a great Federer with full confidence can do.
He showed it before, like in RG 2011.
Miami was just madness all the way 'til the very end. Insane level.
Federer's draw in Miami was absolutely insane, from first round to final
2017 was really a dream came true for Federer and his fans. What an achievement!
The only thing I didn't like is ...
The INDIAN WELLS courts have became slow by each passing year ....
2017 The year Roger Federer backhand is unstoppable
BEST🌟 ATP providing us with tennis we need🙏
This was a great run in 2017 and perfect way to open the season. His backhand was incisive and clinical.
The Man did not even go for a change of clothes, he just hung around the court beating one after the next and then flew to Miami and finished his job there.
This is the treasure for me forever.
Love to the GOAT from Japan❤
Just imagine this Federer clashes with Djokovic 2015, WOW!
This man is simply incredible.
The moment his backhand on point, nobody can stop him.
Federer's backhand in these two tournaments and infact entire 2017 was unreal.,..
All court aggressive tennis of the highest caliber. Such a treat to watch
I really liked this format, you should do more videos like this
This level is incredible . Federer played insane tennis really
Great memories!
El mejor de todos los tiempos, cómo extraño verlo en los torneos..!!
Re watching this because Indian Wells is this week & we all miss you sm Roger
le retour du boss
I watched Miami final by waking up 3 AM morning in India and china I couldn't expect more. Just pure joy of being Federer fan that time.
We all needed this right now
If he had shown the same kind of mental strength at IW 18, IW 19 and Wim 19 like he showed vs Berdych at Miami 17, things could have been so different
Yes, mental strength/confidence is a fickle thing and I'm not sure it decided the outcome in those matches. It might have made the losses possible, but if a player gets to match points, all explanations for them being bound to lose are mistaken, because a bound-to-lose player never gets that close to winning. Wimbledon 2019 was a few inches from being Federer's. That first serve at 40-15 hit the tape and would very likely have been an ace.
@@Molybdaenmornell That first serve was luck, but many of those unforced errors in the tie breaks were due to mental strength
But there's a difference between Djokovic and Berdych.A Wimbledon final is a whole different scenario too.
He said himself that a 2006 RF would beat the 2017 version. Mostly because of his speed/defensive qualities. But surely he played some miraculous tennis that season. I will also remember Halle 2017, Rotterdam 2018 , Basel 2019 and Wimbledon 2019 (even though he lost).
man, man, ... that backhand , that 2017 backhand !!
Bruh I swear this man was on some other shit during that first hard course swing of 2017, it was a thing of beauty to watch tbh 😂
17:52 How in the world do you volley THIS??? Something I will never understand. Nobody except Federer would be able to win that point like that...
Just check how steady his hand still is on that
Insane, if it was me I would have ended up breaking my wrist
@@lucan1701 fr that was going so fast
He not only volleyed it, but directed it to the other side of the court. A mere mortal would celebrate just volleying it back down the middle.
This was simply a magical month. Unreal tennis from Roger
The best Match i have eher Seen in my life ist the Match between Kyrgios and Federer in Miami 2017.
Jan The Rock Leibetseder same. Such unreal shotmaking from both players in that match
For me it is the best best-of-three match ever
@@miroslavjanecek9993 Murray-Robredo 2014
@@advays9815 those were good but not like this one
It also depends what kind of tennis you prefer, Federer Kyrgios is the most interesting match-up for me
Federer's 2017 season has become a must see video for anyone wanting to know what excellence in any given sport looks like, and a cautionary tale for young tennis players about what happens when someone plays beyond his means. As wonderful as it was to watch, that kind of level became physically unsustainable.
It could have been sustained if he was 10 years younger.
The most dangerous roger I've ever seen... This version of hims is just inevitable.... The outfit... And the skills he had especially the backhand🥶🥶🥵🥵🔥🔥💥
Como disfrute esos dos torneo como fan de Roger, los partidos contra Berdich que se cago, contra kyrgios y el doble baile a Rafa.
legend
Got to see him live at Indian Wells Championship 2017. He looked much thinner in person. What astounded me the most was the sixth sense anticipation of both players. At least got a checkoff on the bucket list. Greatest All Time. Switch to a lager racket earlier in career and he finishes with 26 to 27 slam titles.
This version of Roger was probably the best ever
What an incredible year 2017 was for Federer... too bad he injured his back in the Montreal masters.
This is Federer’s Sistine Chapel, a moment in time when the great one perfected his art. Federer truly brought the sport into another realm with his craft.
I will never forget that Green shirt and the counterpart white one..Fed decided to rewrite history and reinvent himself.
He ended his tennis career on a great note
Love this. Tell you what tho the NikeCourt outfits that year were pretty nice!
Golden legend in universal
Wonderful upload. Can't thank enough.
Attacking, aggressive baseline tennis at its absolute best.
