I'm hoping you could answer this question . I am a 67 year old woman and disabled. I was put in a RD complex 1 bedroom upstairs apt that was suppose to be temporary until a downstairs came up as I have many medical issues. 5 years later I am still in an upstairs. I retained a Dr's note for a 2 bedroom downstairs ( 2nd bedroom is for health related equipment and grandchildren help and sleepover) in which I was denied by the property manager and very nastily I might add and not to mention the apt I'm in is falling apart with no maintenance to be found. What are my repercussions and where do I start? would just move but I don't have the resources right now
Hi Joanne, Really sorry to hear this... My best advice is to look up a Fair Housing nonprofit group in your area or state. I guarantee you there are at least a couple.... They can help you determine if you're entitled to any protections...
