  • Leg Mount Ride - Sometimes called the low low mount, or thigh mount. A position of control used by Demian Maia, Jake Shields, Shinya Aoki, Khabib Nnurmagomedov & Tatsuya Kawajiri. Lately, Khabib has been using it the most when he triangles his legs up against the cage in a low mount to work his "Khabib smesh" ground and pound. This video shows different entries, setups, options for passing, striking and submission.

    Could you show some high percentage attacks from this position like Head&Arm or how to get to the increasingly popular “Dagastani Handcuff & Split Leg Ride” for MMA?

    • @elumiomerk4013
      @elumiomerk4013 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My two cents, is that it came from a part of wrestling called mattwork, you have top wrestling and bottom wrestling, and they have their own rules for pins and stuff. Catch wrestling uses it for pins and submissions as well. Freestyle came from catch wrestling according to the internet, don't know about folkstyle. I saw a greco video and it had some bottom wrestling too. I don't know the historical specifics.
      Moving on, I guess it was modified in MMA for strikes, or maybe somebody just used in an mma match because of muscle memory and it worked.

    • @SonnyBrown
      @SonnyBrown  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can find it in folkstyle wrestling although not extremely common. I think its proved far more effective in MMA.

    Is this effective in BJJ?? I can't imagine it being effective because you can't land any punches, and it puts you way off balance, and the guy still has access to his hips and arms, and you can't really do much with it. I see it being effective in MMA just not pure BJJ. Please correct me if I'm wrong! I wanna be wrong! I'd love to use this when I get back into training. I'm a Purple belt so I'm in no way a beginner (I am compared to some of you though lol), but I've been out of the gym for 3 years due to being an old 27 year old fuck with a family and a career; so I'm asking because I may have been missing out on some of these "newer" techniques. Im hoping to start back up next month, and I'd love to be able to use this if it's actually effective, because triangles have always been my specialty (any type of triangle.)

    • @SonnyBrown
      @SonnyBrown  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey mate, I use it all the time when rolling BJJ but obviously a bit differently as you have no punching. Instead I use it when passing to help secure position and then I can slide up to full mount relatively easily. The only real offensive options are the Hammerlock if they turn on their side or you can start to setup a head & arm choke from there. Hope that helps !

  • @jacktheladstevens

    If it's used so often then why the fuck did McGregor have no clue how to escape/reverse it!?
