    Honestly, your adult life can be just as fun as your childhood. We’ve just been taught that adulthood=stress.

      Adulthood equals responsibility so yes it is stressful, bills, credit, insurance. It could be fun if you live off your parents or have financial support because you have less responsibility but most people don’t have that.

    • @isabellabencosme2084
      @isabellabencosme2084 4 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      Lillian Wallace definitely you’re right but i don’t agree with the fact that responsibility=stress of you get an education, a job, and a budget you can still have fun on a limited amount of money...

    • @lw8625
      @lw8625 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Spaghetti it depends on how well off you are really. I’ve managed living on my own with NO help since 18, I’m 25. However to have a car, home, insurance, pay light gas water mortgage/rent food, supplies, emergency fund , self groom The list goes freaking ON you have to WORK and unless you immediately have your dream job that can be challenging (not enough money!) Achieving purchasing a car or home requires thousands for down payment. Also you have to manage achieving good credit.No help and lots of responsibility means you have to work full time and many times a second job yet alone maintain going to school simultaneously. Life is really expensive and there’s only 24hrs in a day. If you make good money doing things like TH-cam then of course it would be easier and fun to be an adult also if you live off your parents or have any help at all then yes because you have relief from the load of responsibilities.Managing things are always easier when you have less responsibility. I didn’t even mention having children in all of that. One responsibility is not stressful at all, try maintaining 45 major responsibilities simultaneously and they never go away. It’s great to accomplish things but not easy, if it was easy everyone would do it. As you can see not everyone is not successful. You have a lot to learn.

    • @lw8625
      @lw8625 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also my life is fun lol I am happy! You get to do things! Vacations and party. No one tells you what to do but you! You can really do whatever you want with your life! Just prepare for it. Don’t ever say that being an adult isn’t stressful though because I have many friends that backpack across the world and have degrees but in the end they have had some kind of financial support to do that and after it all they don’t have cars, homes, much to show when they are ready to settle down and end up working teenage jobs as an adult because they opted out on a structured life which is fine. Your journey is yours. You will find out though. You will learn on your own.

    When I was in college in 1992 to 1996, there weren't video resources or more so even the internet to see what life was about abroad. I always wanted to study abroad but I was unable to for my college support my decision. I thought about doing the JET program (a program for college students or university students to teach English in Japan). Not sure if this still exists) but I had no command of the Japanese language or culture so I did not do it. Watching your channel and seeing the resources to explore your interests motivates me to maybe revisit this dream in the future. However, I praise you for sharing so much in your adventures in Japan, learning the language and absorbing the culture. You would be the ultimate ambassador for Japan in my eyes! I am excited for you. Thank you for sharing. And, I pray you are safe during this challenging time. xox

    • @lesweetpea
      @lesweetpea  5 ปีที่แล้ว +119

      Hi! As a non-Japanese resident, you're only allowed to work if you're a student (part-time) or with a working visa.
      I'm not sure a full-time student could live off of a part-time job... (for me I was doing youtube/influencer work so it was doable + i had saved a lot beforehand)
      As for a working visa or working holiday visa.. I think you'd need to make sure you're making at least $1.2K~$2K (¥120000~¥200000) a month. If you're American (or a country that doesn't do working holiday visas), companies that sponsor visas must ensure they will pay you enough to live in Japan or else immigration will not approve the visa.
      If you're a tourist, it's illegal to have a job. And thank youuuu! 💖

    • @lesweetpea
      @lesweetpea  5 ปีที่แล้ว +38

      @@miapearce8662 I think you should save for 3 months of living expenses and then get a job while in Japan that can support your living style. You can't stay in Japan longer than 3 months without a proper visa anyways.
      Estimate your rent, food, fun, transportation and misc.
      Rent+utilities: $750~850 Food: $200~350 Fun: $100~200 Transportation: $100~200 Misc: $100
      Depends on how much you personally decide to spend, but that's per month and then times that by three(for 3 months worth). After that, if you have a job in japan you'll probably make at least $2,000 a month or whatever the minimum is to be allowed to have a working visa. If you're getting working holiday.. I'm not sure how that works, but you still probably need a job.. unless you could save like a whole salary's worth for a year.

    I have to say this is more of just a "Living on your own for the first time" video really, as most of these things are something you have to deal with learning the first time you live alone no matter where you do it. But thanks for your video! I'm a bit past that stage of my life so most felt very common sense to me, but I'm sure you're helping a lot who haven't done it yet, and seeing from the comments it seems true. By the way, you're like me, complaining about our curly hair and it acting up, but I have to say yours looks stunning as does your makeup. It doesn't hurt that you're gorgeous naturally lol.

      Hey @Minnie, I’m glad you’re interesting in learning Japanese! From personal experience I’d recommend writing out a few Hiragana and Katakana every day (and saying them out loud when you write), then using the website WaniKani for kanji and Japanesepod101 for basic speech. Listening to anything in Japanese is also helpful to help you get a feel of the language (Examples include J-pop, anime, podcasts, audiobooks, etc). If you are interested in something more structured you could try the Genki language books, a textbook that is used to teach foreigners in Japan. It’s pretty easy to learn with so don’t worry about your age. Another option is asking your school if you could take Japanese as a language credit from a duel enrollment program or community college. I hope your Japanese learning goes well! ٩( 'ω' )و

      Hey, I am learning Japanese right now, I wish I started when I was young, I remember trying at around 12 or 13 and stopping. Just trust me and stick with it, If I stuck with it I would speak Japanese now. Learn Hiragana and Katakana and use duolingo on PC, the mobile version only gives you 5 lifes a day.

    You can also move to Japan or Korea as an English teacher after you graduate. Some schools will even take care of rent and utilities for you. But that’s usually the more “upscale, expensive” schools. If you’re able to get hired by one of them. They also don’t mind (and sometimes even prefer) that you don’t speak the language

    I love your videos! I have some questions. What's it like working in Japan? What are some jobs good for foreigners? Do you have any advice for foreigners looking for jobs? Also, I'm curious, can you get medicine in stores in Japan, like cold meds or pain killers, or do you have to go to the doctor?

    Greetings! Long story short, my occupation allows me to work just about anywhere & I've always wanted to experience Japan while I'm young & able. I just don't know how to go about it and began getting realistic about my move as of early May. I've narrowed it down to Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto but I'm open to other cities. I'm a young professional in my 20s & I'm just trying to gather as much information so I can take the appropriate steps to make this move possible by the end of the year God willing. Also, what's the current state in the country? As far as C-19 goes. Any feedback would be highly appreciated! Tysm for reading up to here! Hope to hear from somebody out there.

    I'm actually surprised that the doctors don't speak English. I was under the impression that anyone who goes through that level of higher learning (no matter what country) was basically forced to take it at some point. Interesting... Good tip :)

    • @lesweetpea
      @lesweetpea  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Most may have studied English but... many Japanese people don't interact with international people on a daily basis (we're only like 3% of the total population). So it's quite uncommon for a Japanese person to consistently have full conversations with people that can speak English.. so if they don't practice, they lose the ability that they may have had to speak English. Also, many do know some important vocabulary words, so that helps. That said.. in general, idk how much of any language you can REALLY learn from schooling alone if you don't use it in daily life or with friends..

    • @bangkokadventures298
      @bangkokadventures298 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@lesweetpea That makes sense... Here in Thailand (Bangkok specifically) every dentist and doctor I've dealt with spoke perfect English. But you're right, there are a lot of English speaking expats here to practice with, where in Japan that may not be the case. I hadn't thought of it that way :)
