@@Rokaize They target people who are not tech-savvy, show them advanced looking things they don't understand (or make something up) and claim it's a huge security issue. Then charge large amounts of money for "fixing" it. Another variant is guilt-baiting, where the scammers make the non-tech-savvy victims feel like they messed up in some way and then demand a "correction", which involves sending a lot of money. A lot of honest elderly people can fall for that. For example they can call about a 50 dollar refund but make it seem like 500 was sent instead while processing it (all fake). Then demand 450 from the victim as a "correction".
It is funny how out of character Kitboga went with this and the scammer still wasted lots of time. Kitboga played the role of some very tech-savvy old lady when scammers would be expected to waste more time on a lady that knew nothing.
I think a lot of these call centers penalize the scammers if they're the ones that hang up the call, to make sure they don't go "soft" on their victims, which is why they'll spend several more minutes insulting Kit trying to get HIM to hang up on them.
I did this to a Microsoft scammer once. I was playing around with Windows 3.11 (because it's the first windows with built in networking) in a VM and a scammer called. I played the role of an old man. When the technician started telling me where to go, I kept saying that I can't find what he's saying...This went on for almost 2 hours and escalated up the chain to 4 different techs. Finally, the boss got on the phone and said that Windows 3.11 was too old and that I needed to upgrade. Still playing the old man, I said, "well, you're Microsoft, right? So why don't you upgrade me now while we're on the phone. I'll pay you. I got my credit card right here". He hated me telling me that because that meant I was an easy mark, but they had no way to take my money that I was so readily to part with. He kept telling me that I needed to buy a new computer. I said, why, when this one works perfectly fine. I don't need the newest and latest of everything...I told him that my 1950 Buick Roadmaster was still running great from when I bought it new. My 1949 Zenith Refrigerator still works and my Philco TV still gets the local channels! I said that's the problem with you young folk...don't know the value of things because you don't keep them long enough to value them! He insisted that he can't work on my computer because it's too old! I said, that it wasn't too old when I bought it in 1994! I said that I got a free copy of Lotus 123 and Wordstar which I still use! Seeing them still continue to try to scam an "elderly" person on such an old machine goes to show how cold they are. An elderly person in that position likely has no family to guide them into upgrading, and they are probably broke as well.

If they can build a cockpit or truck cab and then install everything properly, they could def get a Windows emulator. My now passed grandfather worked on and operated one of the first big computers while in the Navy in the 50's, and it was called a Facsimile Machine. NASA Apollo engineers would also be able to use modern day computers, even if there was a learning curve.

@@Rokaize They target people who are not tech-savvy, show them advanced looking things they don't understand (or make something up) and claim it's a huge security issue. Then charge large amounts of money for "fixing" it.

I think Kit more just wanted to hear what bs the scammers would come up with to try and scam money since this is such a unique situation
@@SteveJones172pilot my dad is the type who is very tech illiterate, but thinks he is way smarter than he actually is. we literally left him alone in the house for 2 hours while my mum had to get surgery and in that time he got called by a scammer (not sure how often you get this specific one in other countries but in the UK a common scam call is someone pretending to be an ISP and threatening that your internet will be shut off if you don't comply). in just that short amount of time they were so threatening and urging that he was convinced by them even though we didn't even use the ISP they were imitating. he has brain damage meaning he struggles with critical thinking and so he did the entire thing of installing a remote access software and logging into the savings account. the only reason they didn't get away with it is because they got greedy and tried to take _everything we had_ and the bank saw a bunch of transfers of £3000+ multiple times into a random account, it flagged up some kind of fraud detection, and they stopped every transaction and froze the account.
don't get me wrong my dads a dickhead and I don't like him, but even despite how I feel about him it made me so fucking angry. how can they so callously trick a clearly confused and disabled old man, who was saying the entire time "oh i'm really not sure I should be doing this, I'm worried, my wife deals with the money but she's having surgery" and still sleep at night? we live below the poverty line, if they hadn't been so greedy and not flagged the fraud detection they'd have literally ruined our lives. it was genuinely so surreal to come home and see the exact remote access programs that I see in scam baiting videos installed on his pc. I backed up his important files and then wiped the whole pc just to be on the safe side. we had to have a serious talk with him about what to look out for in scams and especially that its always better to be suspicious and he no longer has the login for the savings account (at his own request). I agree so much, please please talk to your friends and family who might be vulnerable to these kind of scams! it literally ruins lives
@@SteveJones172pilot absolutely! Not only did my dad suffer emotionally from this but physically as well. He used to be quiet the alpha male and ran a large company back in the day. He had a stroke last year and is now almost child like in his behavior. This was a VERY upsetting experience for him coming to the realization that’s he’s not all there anymore and his baby girl (even though I’m old now too) had to rescue him. He was very appreciative but extremely humiliated and it broke my heart. These scammers are scum of the earth. So grateful I watched these videos. Everyone should share with their family and friends.
@@alexmichelle7721 So sorry to hear what you're going through (and him!!) I have the same situation going too.. 85 year old stepfather who used to own and run a software company before becoming a lawyer, but he's had a few small strokes and now gets very frustrated he can't really understand the computer anymore. Getting old sucks, but it beats NOT getting old I guess.. Anyone who would take advantage of someone like this are definitely scum as you said!!
@@FelineBlue Hey, we all have trouble inside our familys. This does not mean that outsiders can be forgiven to give trouble to our family members. After we dealt with them, we can go back to fight against each other as usuall :)
i'm 10 months late because i've only just discovered your content.....but omg seeing the old ass windows screens gave me flashbacks to childhood and messing around with my first pc... damn dude lol thank you for the nostalgia and for trolling the living hell out of these people
I love Kit's videos because they're both entertaining and educational! I've learned a lot from watching him and other scam baiters. Yesterday my knowledge was put into action when I was checking out at Dollar General and happened to notice a man who was on the phone with someone while looking at gift cards. The more I observed, the more warning signs there were that a scam was in progress. I alerted the cashier and she went to see what was going on. As I left, I saw the man walking out, no longer on the phone and having bought nothing. Thanks to Kit bringing awareness to how these scammers operate, someone was spared becoming a victim.
You are amazing for speaking up and trying to save someone from being scammed
Dollar General must pay you real well for you to protect their property like that.
I started messing around with computers around the Windows 95 era, but this is still so nostalgic to look at
Your IP ADDRESS IS BEEN HACKED
Windows 95 is nostalgic. This is just arcane.
"Hello Microsoft? I think my computer's gained sentience." I've never laughed so hard!!
Windows 3.1 + Nokia, is the best pair ever haha, great video!
When you asked the woman "should I use write or notepad" I nearly choked lol! Simply golden 👍. Keep up the great work and a big hello from England 🏴🙂
How this dude doesn't burst out laughing or have the patience to deal with these assholes in general is a mystery to me. When they call me I get fed up after 10 minutes and tell them to hurry up and beg for gift cards. For some reason they hang up immediately. 😆🤣😂
Same longest I've been able to last is 2 minutes. Gotta work on my stamina...
@@nad663 I hear that voice on the phone trying to steal from my 90yr old mother and I'm RAGIN !
Level 7 techkneeshin detect many of the echoes, I must the terminationeds a hackers and each and every wirus
the more people like us who know this kind of scam well we make these scammers waste time and the less time they have to scam people who unfortunately fall into this kind of scam.
Lmao
The best was when a "Microsoft Tech" called about my windows errors, when I was running a Linux system. And when I explained that I'm not even using Windows, he straight out called me a liar and told me he could see what I am doing on my computer! I laughed at him and hung up.
I wonder what wouldve happened if you didnt hung up
Last I checked, anyone on the phone with MS was deep into existing problems - the $350/hour kind that are the developer variety. MS never cold calls desktop users.
@@flinch622 absolutely never. Too bad most don’t know that
why would microsoft even call you if you were running linux
@@notthatntg They wouldn't....Dude was a scammer.
Sir what kind of phone do you have?
“I have a Nokia”😂
I like how the scammer is confused and not think this is a joke lol. This scammer is so blind. It's hilarious.
Omg DOS!!! When I was really little, my Grandpa (who was really into computers, he built a computer in his basement in 1979, he invented a lot of things for Ford during his career, and had some really interesting stories about what the internet looked like as someone who was on it before it took off) he had several computers when I was like 7, the older one was for the kids that had DOS on it and he had games we could play on it. All I really remember from the DOS part of the computer was this matchmaker game. You typed in up to 8 girl names and 8 boy names and then the program had all these hearts going in a circle and then randomly it would match a girl and a boy name together. This was endlessly entertaining for a 3rd grader who would put her friends names in and laugh at who the computer matched them up with😂
The internet was a great place until 1996 or 1997 when too many "regular" people started getting on it. It pretty quickly turned into the horrible cesspool is is now. Back in the early days, there was no spam, no pop ups, no BS of any kind, just a zillion different websites that were hard to find, but all had some new info on them. It actually took some doing to host a webpage back then, so all the pages had a purpose, it wasn't every idiot with their phone spewing crap 24x7 like it is now
I'm surprised they don't hang up immediately.
When I get calls about extending my car's warranty they always hang up when I say it's a '67 Chevy.
Same whenever i say it's a horse drawn carriage. First dude said "come again sir" and when i repeated it and said "the name's pretty self evident dude"
Try 2017 Honda CRF 250l rally
I always say "It's a 1953 Studebaker Champion"
I tell them I have a 2019 Nova. One person told me to go fk myself once haha
A friend got one of these calls while we were hanging out on Discord. He put them on speaker for the whole group to enjoy.
The car warranty scam script starts with them trying to get you to tell them what car you have. He answered in variations of "Which car?". Consistently implied he owns more than one, without spelling it out for the scammer. Kept pressuring the scammer to identify which specific vehicle he is calling about.
Cue 5 minutes of "Which car?" "Your car" "Which car?" as the scammer cycled through his script lines, trying to get the make and model of "the car".
Playing doom while screen sharing is just diabolical 😂
That VM reveal to the clueless scammer absolutely killed me 😂
Network Architect here….. This is pure GOLD. I rarely comment but putting Win 3.1 on a vm to see how they’d act is just priceless. They kept thinking it was Linux….. do they try the same scams with *nix distros or is it OS specific? Scamming scammers looks like fun. I’d spend all day playing with them. You’ve got an endless supply of fun right there!
18:20 The fact that he's trying so hard to made it look like it has AI on it to do such a command is hillarious😅
This one was absolute gold. One of my favorite videos of yours!
It's so funny watching Kit trying to hold himself back from laughing hysterically, lol!
That’s my favorite part!
"The hackers have installed Windows 3.11 and deleted all your files. To stop the hackers you need to spend all your money in your bank account to buy Target gift cards. OK"
I'm so glad he's doing this, he should get a grant for providing a public service for harassing these jerks
These scammers are so committed. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. So many memories.
This OS is older than most of the scammers. Their reactions to it are hilarious!
The FineBro's next series: Scammer's react
The best part is that 14/4 was enough to break his brain...
He didn't even try! Come on bro, 7/2, you can do this! ERROR... 🤣
That scammer was very creative inventing his own commands.. and inventing the output that he typed himself!
🤣
It’s impressive that grandma is running a virtual machine and he is still going and doesn’t realize. I can’t even do that.
