Got my switch (Lite) last year end of December as my first gaming rig, if you wanna call it that. Its also my first console. This channel is something i never thought i needed but very much welcome it. Cheers mate, from Africa (Botswana).
Be careful of heat because the switch lite lcd is crazy fragile, look up “switch lite lcd horizontal lines” and you will see a bunch of switches with broken lcd showing horizontal scanlines. Bought mine on July 2023, lcd broke on September, replaced the lcd and it broke again on October. I waited until Dec 2024 (a year later) to replace it with an OLED mod and it’s been going strong so far.
Welcome! You will love it and you've found the right place for advice. I'm quite jealous, you can go back through switchup's videos to figure out what they recommend in the gaming sectors that suit you. Enjoy mate, and hi from the UK.
Literally me every other month these days 😂 there’s just too many games that have me hooked now. Like a Dragon Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is top of the top for me right now coming up as well as Monster Hunter Wilds. Saved enough money from work to afford both as well. So excited.
As a Game Designer, naming anything is incredibly difficult as you commit to it and if you choose wrong it can really effect player interest and thus sales.
@@SwitchUpYt its like naming your child before its even conceived. Once it has a name, its given permanency. Sometimes its used well like Untitled Goose Game where I imagine was named that during production as a stand in or project folder name then it simply stuck but other times they rename it once released like Golfclub Wasteland switching to Golfclub Nostalgia, but we always call it by its original name and mention the name change when introducing it. Names can be critical, draw in players, repel them or simply mislead and create disappointment. Its a minefield.
I neglected picking up Dust & Neon for the longest time because of its mixed reviewed, but I’m so glad I finally did a while back. It’s not life alteringly special or anything, but it’s just such a solid way to spend some time having fun.
I could name a game Jambalaya Junction... I just made that up 5 seconds ago. But it'd be a Paperboy inspired game. You traverse the French Quarter, you gotta watch out for potholes, pick pockets, speeding cars, people doing weird stuff on bikes. You gotta navigate past roads block off for second lines or construction. Your life meter is a hand grenade (the tall drink), you can refill your health by taking a sip, but you can't drink too much (or spill it) or you run out of health. The big boss will be Margi Gras. I don't know how to make video games
strikey sisters is like the best arkanoid game ever made. The combat element makes it so much more fun than a normal arkanoid clone. All the hidden content and massive amount of bonus content you unlock for beating the game make it such a great value.
Maybe it's just me but after the Christmas sales it always seems disappointing to look at my wishlist and see not many on sale there! Happy new years guys keep rocking the excellent switch videos
I do love these sales videos, we get to see such a huge variety of games. It's really cool getting to see the creativity out there from the indie world. One of my favourite things about the channel is the coverage the obscure titles get!
I picked up some really addictive games as of the last month, all of them from the different sales on the eshop: Parking Jam (been through it twice now, and still addicted), LogiKing, and Soul Dog TD. Bite-sized and so much fun to play!
This video has been one part of my Sunday routine. It doesn’t feel like the end of the weekend until I listen to Mark muse about sales, food, and other random thoughts.
Ship of Fools seems like a fun way to spend the night gaming with a friend might have to pick that up assuming I can convince friends to play something aside from Mario Party Jamboree when visiting 😂
I bought Slay the Spire on sale last week, and I've been playing it non-stop. I've completely run out of eshop funds. And now comes in another sales video with more than a few games I'm honestly interested in... Please guys give me a break hahaha
I'm with Mark on Shogun Showdown... Doesn't instantly grab me But Glen's enthusiasm for it might make me take a punt on something outside my comfort zone
if you guys see this, or if anyone else happens to know, would you mind sharing what the transluscent joycon pad dealies are on that switch that's displayed at around 6:25 during the doomsday hunters portion? are they comfortable? i really like the look of them.
You fellows not only give some of the best Switch content (personality, good explanation, fair reviews even if I don’t always agree lol) but also give back to the community with Switch giveaways. Glad I discovered y’all years ago 😄 See Yahhhhh
Luckily for the backlog nothing jumping out at me this week! Although one of the chapter headers said cassette beasts which is a game I've been tempted by for a while. But I did play Coromon a couple months ago so resisting another monster catcher type game for now!
I wrote a book back in 2021. I feel the pain of trying to name something! It’s 2025, and I’m finally releasing it this spring and TODAY I finally found its name. Very happy with it, too.
Getting back into playing games and love watching all your videos to see what’s on offer! Shoutout to whoever does the thumbnails for the videos, always makes me want to click to see the cozy pixel games in action ❤
Did y'all know that Train Valley had a sequel? Train Valey 2: Community Edition. I stole it for under $7 when it was on sale last week, so I had to grab it, you know. I can't have the first one without the second. I also snagged Cross Tails at its sale. I was not going to, but at the last hour, I closed my eyes and pulled the trigger.
If the music making part of monomals strikes anyone's fancy, check out Korg Gadget. It's not a game, it's music production software for nintendo switch. Has multi-instrument timeline arrangement with piano roll sequencing, and several different soft synths, and drum machines.
haven't heard of ship of fools or rise eterna before, will add to the list! i've been tempted by shogun showdown but i probably shouldn't add to the backlog haha
I really need to try out Chernobylite; bought at release but job has been so hellish since, so it's still in the backlog. It looks so good... But, thanks for all the co-op recommendations this week; my co-op partner (my youngest niece) is currently vacationing at the beach :P but I'll add them all to my Wishlist, see what she thinks interesting.
Switch has been in repair since before Christmas, best part of having time off over Christmas was playing switch until the early hours before I had responsibilities. There’s always next Christmas!
I know its sale video and its awesome as always, but i have to tell in case someone didnt notice, the Freedom Wars Remastered is being released, this game is awesome played online, totally worth playing it, and also Dodonpachi which I think was out of stock is now digital so its worth getting too
I have five of these games and the normal version of the sponsor so I actually escaped this week. Finally got my physical of SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos last week. I didn't get a chance to play it yet but another fighting game added to my switch collection. Hopefully Switch 2 will bring some ports like SF6 and Tekken 8 to really expand that fighting library to current day as well.

Xenoblade is a bit of a tribute to previous monolith software games, mixed up with blade as the game revolts around a blade or blades.
@ it d be so cool if there was a way to submit questions and you d do an episode answering the ones you fancy. Or selecting a few to add in the community tab. We could have questions for you like how many switch games do you own or whatever and questions to the community like what’s your monthly budget to spend on games. Just an idea not sure if it s a good one . Anyways, good night ! ☺️
I wish I could like Highwater more but I hate the boat. The turning radius is terrible and it feels awful to use. The map has tons of hidden locations to explore but there's rarely anything to find which in this case is a blessing because using the boat is so bad so just go directly from A to B. Otherwise the aesthetic is nice and it reminds me of the book Zodiac by Neal Stephenson.
If I created a switch game I think I'd call it 'Just part of the backlog' then it can join the list of switch games purchased after watching one of these videos.
Thanks again for the winning OLED. From the guy who lives from the Land of Kings (where you were born, Mark). Though, probably better to refer to it as the Lans of 'Gypsy' Kings. Keep up the excellent work guys!
Sometimes, these videos and this channel give me a sense of hope. That we can still get good things in this life. Cheers! And good luck on the backlog and wallet :)
Considering Highwater from that list, played the golf one and interested to see more of that world. Is there a still a Switch to be given away? My daughter wants to have her own Animal Crossing island and isn't allowed to delete my game save! Plus she watches these videos too and after each one shouts "See yaaaaaaa". If you don't ask...
Not heard of a single one of these, always nice to be introduced to something new. Highwater looks visually stunning, obviously nothing ground breaking like we get on PS5 but I mean the art direction and how ot comes together is visually pleasing to the eye. Might have to check this one out. Cheers guys 🍻
After going through hundreds of your videos the games I decided to buy with my Christmas money were FEZ, Phoenotopia, Everafter Falls and Drova Forsaken Kin 🥰
Can’t wait for switch 2, I hope it has Oled texh or better out of the box. My old PS Vita was the Oled model, such a good screen. Cheers for the video guys!
I had no idea they added more to blasphemous 2!! I really liked that game, I actually stopped playing just before beating it because I hate beating things 😅, or finishing things. Like tv shows. I just watched Star Trek enterprise again and I didn’t watch the last 5 episodes cuz In my head id rather it feels like it continues lol. But I definitely will play and beat it now that there’s more stuff! Thanks for the heads up
Doomsday Hunters really is decent. Not too hard at the beginning, can get wild later but its fun from start to finish. Can see why you call it Hades-like, its definitly not like Enter the Gungeon or Binding of Isaac
I'm treating SwitchUp as my own personal game. I'm slowly working my way backwards with your videos. I've been watching for about two years now (got a Nintendo Switch late... I'm poor, what can I say) and I've liked every video but also plan to have a 100% LIKE and a 100% WATCHED achievement. Watch this space. Haha!
Which games are you considering? I’ve tried to gather up some more obscure releases in this one! Mark
Figment, never had it and I love this kind of games
Have you looked at the preview reviews for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 as yet Mark?
Highwater ❤
@@Sini_s_piciousI have had it for a while, great fun and creative mate.
@Jedbullet29 so Cool, I'd love to try it really
Got my switch (Lite) last year end of December as my first gaming rig, if you wanna call it that. Its also my first console. This channel is something i never thought i needed but very much welcome it. Cheers mate, from Africa (Botswana).

Could u be any ruder? What is wrong with u? It doesn't cost anything to just be kind.@@mrGrier728
enjoy your console man, its great!
you gotta play skyrim and zelda on that!

It's Sunday and I wanna buy something!! To hell with the backlog! Gimme that dopamine rush!
Edit: I won!
Hehehe yeah I feel that mood. Mark
Not for me. Putting all my pennies into my Switch 2 fund now. Every time i pass up on the urge to buy a game, I put a few quid in the pot.
Backlog be damned!!!
@concept226 now that's a good idea! Congrats on the self control haha

Shipped one off to the place you were born 😮 Your dad will be gaming hard this weekend 😂😂

Thanks for another great sales video! Thankfully, I’m safe this week. I’m still playing Tinykin, which I picked up last week on sale. So fun!

Love the aesthetic to Blood Will Be Spilled, the ant dudes with the western look fits perfect 🤘🏻
Kind of reminds me of the movie Rango 😅

Hear, hear! My favourite indie of 2024 👍🏻
Fantastic game.
I need to finish Xenoblade 3 first 😂
I'm with Mark on Shogun Showdown... Doesn't instantly grab me
But Glen's enthusiasm for it might make me take a punt on something outside my comfort zone
A shout out for a Seattle corn dog, $0.99. A hotdog on a stick, dipped in corn bread batter and deep fried. Served with mustard.
Oh nice sounds tasty!
Grabbed Prince of Persia Complete edition for 50% off sale rn 🔥

Ember Knights was the multiplayer ‘Hades like’. Definitely worth a pickup!
Been playing Doomsday Hunters because I grabbed it on sale. Thanks for the recommendation! Fun game to play in bursts.
Blasphemous 2 and Doomsday Hunters are most interesting to me. Could have given a shout out to ramen noodles for the price comparisons at the end 😂
True True!
Just got the BioShock collection for cheap in Game
Played them on the Xbox and now love having them in handheld!
This stage I’m waiting on that direct.
Wallet needs a breather 😅
This is the first time my backlog hasn't grown! I already bought all the games I liked when you recommended them before XD
"Blood Will Be Spilled" is a reference to "There Will Be Blood" I think.
That makes sense I think
Just bought Wolfenstein II which has a great sale on atm. Story-driven Doom? Yes, please!

Yeah it’s got a great loop. Mark
“Bar GJAIN”, the dad is strong with this one 😂
I got away unscathed, but mainly because this videos inspired me to boot up Blasphemous 2 which has sat in the backlog since a previous sale

I got Chernobylite last time it was on sale and got sucked in for way longer than I had anticipated. No regrets!
A few on here that I’ve never even heard of! Good digging fellas
Looks like Doomsday Hunters look fun! I'll have to wishlist it first since i got Terra Memoria yesterday.
Your link to 3:53 is claiming to be Cassete Beasts when it’s Dust and Neon instead.
Cool I’ll fix that cheers
"Try not ti Die" is a safe name for any game genre i think.
I over-spent on games around Christmas. I'm currently playing Astroneer. I need to get back to Chernobylite at somepoint
What backlog? Sure I can play all of these games when I retire!
Keep up this awesome series guys…love it!
True true - there’s gonna be a lot of us OAPs playing Switch games haha
Don't leave it that late. You're fingers might not be that good at that stage 😢😅
Thanks for always keeping us updated on what's up at the Nintendo shop
Ember Knights? Amazing game!
Yeah that’s it
Nice one thank you as soon as I heard that. I knew this is the one me and my Fiance can play 6:59
Looks like it's time to add Highwater and Ship of Fools to the ol' list!
All these Switch 2 leaks may just be the most genius and effective marketing strategy yet!!
Makes me feel like I need to drink more water!! 😂
Monomals looks so awesome. Ive had my eye on it for ages and I think I'm finally going to pick it up for my backlog.
It's only 30 fps, though. The switch 60 fps trailers are misleading.
@@MTaye7 aw man really? That kinda stinks but I don't have any other platforms to play it on so I don't really have any other choice.
@KidBowsur For 5 bucks perhaps it's not that bad. I paid 15 bucks and I can't play it at 30 fps, it just strains my eyes too much.
Dust and Neon is such a fun little game. Bought it for $5 AUD ($2 US), put 80 hours into it. Crazy good fun
So many nice ones I think I’d pick most of them 😅 have a great week!

the 2d sidescrolling action game called Blade Chimera that appeared recently on the eshop.
Blasphemous two is definitely a standout here. Figment 1 + 2 at those prices are a great deal.
That blood will be spilled looks similar to steam world heist. Just western in it's thematic and with bugs instead of robots.
New Years Resolution: no new games until the Switch 2 arrives, lets see how long this one lasts...
I also have a friend who lives where I was born. But then the hospital found out and he had to move 😅
You had me at the Time Travel bundle. 😃
Wooo another oled up for grabs? Yes please! Thanks for the videos guys!
Ship of fools seems perfect for me and my wife! We recently got Keywe, that's a great one for coop sessions. Thanks for the Barjans and Vetkoek!
Ship of Fools is my latest addiction! Great video as always lads!

Ember knights. One of my personal favorites
Dust and neon looks just like that space marshals game
Must not spend money yet saving… saving new purchases for DKC Returns this week 🙈 🙉 🙊

Might grab shogun showdown, need something light and easy to pick up and put down, cheers for the list
I finished Blasphemous last month and bought the second right after, but I first need some less grimm games to dive in 😆
I just got an OLED this Christmas and my gf and I have been filling out our library, I’m a fiend for sales so videos like these are perfect!
