    I drive a Tesla Model Y. Road trips are easy-peasy! The supercharger network is vast and reliable. I have driven from New Jersey to The Villages several times and have had no issues. Finally, EV batteries are 95% recyclable. No lithium ends up in landfills.
    Considering that my electric bill for the car is $1.25 a day, and I never need a tuneup, oil change, transmission work, a new muffler, or a brake job (the electric motors help stop the car, extending the life of the brake pads), I will never go back to gasoline again.😊

    Thank you Rusty for advocating for dogs that are walked on hot pavement. Many new residents come from states that don't experience such high temperatures.

    Hey Rusty … just watched your latest video. Got a good laugh out of the birds mating behind you. Had a thought, instead of playing random screen saver type videos you should play local advertising videos and generate yourself some additional revenue. (No need to post, just thought I’d pass along the idea. If you do, let me know would be interested in advertising our local bike shop)

    Enjoy your videos. Very personable. In a recent video (not this one) I believe you showed a map with a proposed medical complex south of the Turnpike. Any more on that? Also saw a few concerns about emergency medical access. Any data on EMS response times, home to Hospital ER? Who runs the EMS? Know where I can find? Thanks for the experiences you impart and advice given.

    I know not everyone feels this way but I am a proponent of solar energy. I became that way after I went through hurricane Ian when I lived in Englewood Florida. We had 150 mile an hour winds which knocked out the power to our neighborhood for 2 weeks. I had recently installed a system and not only did it stay put on the roof, But many people lost what was in their refrigerators and freezers due to the prolonged power loss. We never had that. So when I moved up here one of the first things I did was get a solar system and I have 2 Tesla power banks. I also put extra panels on for the pool I want to have at some point. ARC has no jurisdiction to stop you from placing a solar system. It's Florida law. And I asked about what happens if I need a new roof and for $100 per panel they will take them off and put them back on.
    The hurricanes generally mid state are not as bad as where I was on the coast but the weather patterns are changing and I just don't want to be caught with no power. It is pretty devastating as my neighbors found out. Sorry this is so long.

    Rusty, you might want to make clear that if you want a fenced-in back yard, the developer has homes that come equipped with that, for Villas, it's "Courtyard Villas," and for "Designer Homes," they are called "Veranda Homes." You just can't install fences in other types of homes that do not come with that feature.

    People mainly need to realize the DURATION of the heat down there. Because you can look at the average high for July, see that it is 91 degrees, and think it's no big deal, because places like Kansas City and St. Louis have average highs of 89 in July. BUT... the big difference is the number of days it is hot. The Villages averages 104 days per year over 90 degrees, while Kansas City and St. Louis only average 35. That's nearly TRIPLE the number of days over 90 degrees per year.

      also the humidity and FL is much closer to the equator, both of those make a huge difference in the FL heat

    Thanks for the video Rusty but I have a question.
    I wanted to bring my old British sports car over and just work away on it inside the garage. It wouldn’t be visible from the street at all.
    Surely all the guys that show their classic cars off at the squares must tinker away on them to get them ready.
    Thanks

      You can work on them, INSIDE your garage. Many have Classic or collector cars and keep them up themselves

      That’s good to know, it would be really draconian if they had an issue with it . . . But it specifically has the word “RESTORE” in the screenshot Rusty showed in his video and that’s exactly what I need to do with my car.

    Good informative video this week. Glad you're having fun. You're 100% right - buy if you want to live in the community, not because you want to live in your house 🙂 Thousands of things to do, holing up in your house wastes all that opportunity.

    Hahahaha...I saw the birds and wondered if you'd catch that. Also, how do you REALLY feel about yard art 😂 😉 We went to check out other 55+ communities in Central FL and we felt none compared to TV as far as vibrancy, number of activities, etc. The other communities seemed like any other neighborhood anywhere else with a pool and community building.

    Great videos. Just curious can people put in artificial grass instead of having to have sprinklers and maintaining a lawn? Also I'm dying to try pickleball! Also what's the deal with the palmetto bugs aka roaches? Are they an issue?

    • @noreenn6976
      @noreenn6976 ปีที่แล้ว

      Palmetto bugs are not an issue

    • @lauralampe1664

      My friend lives in a patio villa neighborhood near Lake Sumter Landing. She said her district does not allow owners to replace grass with artificial turf.

    • @karenstasik2979
      @karenstasik2979 ปีที่แล้ว

      The reason they will not allow artificial turf is because of drainage issues. They do a good job here of drainage off your property into the retention ponds.
      Not a fan of the St Augustine grass but it is there for a reason.

    Re: Solar panels. I have seen some realtors on TH-cam telling that some Florida insurance companies are now not wanting to insure homes with solar panels because of the addition expenses for storms & hail damage to them. Also if you need a new roof you have to pay about $1500-2000 to remove it & about the same amount to put it back on new roof. This is also another reason Florida insurance companies are frowning on roof solar panels, should there be a hurricane and they need to replace a roof with solar panels. Check with insurance companies before adding solar panels.

    Rusty, I would like to find someone in the Villages who knows a lot about Adobe lightroom and photoshop for a Mac. Have you run into anyone I could hire to get me up to speed? I used to use premier pro and Lightroom. It just changed faster than I could keep up with. We really enjoy your videos. Part of what led us to the Villages

    Very interesting video, and well done. (I'm against tacky yard art, too.) This was the first one of your videos I've watched, and I'm going to say I found the background videos very distracting. JMO, and I'm sure others will disagree. If I "watch' any others, I'll just listen but not watch.

    Solar panels are a scam. My son rents a house with them and gets charged from a solar company for the power they produce. Not the cost of them, what they produce. So solar isn't free!

    Excellent show! I had a local landscaper install a pair of trellises in my backyard. The work was ARC approved but the height of the trellises exceeded the height of my back wall much to the disapproval of my neighbors. Eventually I had the company lower them. Not sure if ARC was aware of the height of the wall and trellises when the work was approved.
    Great info on the prescription drugs at the doctors office. I take a photo of my prescriptions with my phone and store them in my favorites for quick access. Keep up the good work!
